I had a seriously irritating and uncomfortable experience at this Dillard’s yesterday*. I went Christmas shopping for boyfriend and wanted to get him dress shoes that are also comfortable. I am no shoe expert so I would expect a notable store like Dillard’s to have knowledgable employees. I was greeted by a middle eastern guy about my age(mid 20’s) who was passive aggressive about my budget. Yeah, I said some shoes he recommended are ugly and I was on a budget but don’t rush me to choose a shoe when they’re that expensive for me to just dole out hundreds of dollars for your sake. Then I told him I’d look around first just to see what the competitors are charging in the rest of the mall and asked him if he knew where then men’s bathrobes were before I left. He told me they were upstairs to the left. I circled the whole upstairs and it was ALLWOMEN’S CLOTHING! Is this guy deaf? Annoyed, I left and sought out other shoes from several stores. Seeing that they were all in the same price range I headed back to Dillard’s where this time, nobody was to be found. I circled that section for maybe 10 minutes before another customer and her mother showed up looking for shoes too. When I spoke to them they said they had come back from looking at other stuff since when they were looking at shoes earlier that nobody was there either. That dude must have been gone for over 30 minutes if that was the case. Another employee saw us and said he would get the guy that works in that department. I told the ladies that if it was the same one that«helped» me when I was there a couple hours prior I would talk to a manager. Surprise! Same unhelpful employee and it looked like he just woke up from a nap when he walked out from the back. He helped them first, which didn’t really bother me, but when he spoke with me in the middle of their conversation he basically asked if I had decided already! Once more, I asked what shoes were built for comfort as well as dressy so when he pointed them out he could finish helping the other 2. I overheard some of their conversation and apparently, they didn’t like his passive aggressive nature and started to scold him. I guess one of the women asked him to see if a shoe came in a different color so instead of going in the back to check he just said there wasn’t. He began to defend himself without apologizing and at the same time tried to stifle the argument because it caused a different employee to walk over to see what the problem was. They were taken care of by the nicer of the 2 employees and left me stuck finishing my transaction with this guy. I had to get the shoe I selected in the right size to I could look but he automatically took it to the register. Ugh. Can’t I look at it one more time before you ring it up? I finally purchased the damn things and walked away relieved and frustrated as contradictory as that is. I came back a couple weeks later on my lunch break(I work in San Tan Village in one of the businesses above the stores) to discuss the issue with an actual manager. She knew immediately who I was referring to and explained that he’s new and that she would let his department manager of the situation. By the tone of her voice I got that he’s been a nuisance for a while. I got nothing more than an apology which is ok. I just feel like the lack of quality customer service is something they care little to none nor are they concerned with customers experiences there. P. S. This review was meant to be posted a week before Christmas*

This is for the sales people in the men’s department. I had us come here instead of going to the Superstition Mall where Daniel was an excellent salesperson with awesome customer service. The men’s department at the SanTan is really bad. The complete opposite of Superstition Mall. If I could give a zero star, I would. Got zero service or friendliness. Will NOT be back to buy anything from this department. Maybe you should see Nadine in the Juniors department. She could teach you men something about great customer service.

Wendy in the Michael Kors dept was excellent. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The lady in Lancôme was also friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately the Mac counter was ho hum. They helped me but seemed very disinterested borderline annoyed. If there was another Mac counter nearby I would’ve shopped there instead. The store is clean and organized.

The Santan mall location in Dillards is the ABSOLUTE worst store. You could stand there with a clown suit and no one would even look your way. Not once do they ask if you need help and most of the time you do since their products are in the cabinets for the color you need. Also, I have gotten my makeup done there before and it looks terrible. I could do my make up better with out a doubt!! My biggest issue is it happens every single time I go there and this is the closest one to my house so of course I go there. I will definitely NOT be returning to that location. I stood there with my make up picked out ready to be rang up at the register for over 20 minutes and wasn’t helped until I started walking away. I did not make a purchase due to that. I would not want that location getting my revenue as they do NOT deserve that at all. TERRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE

MAC cosmetics department: Not impressed. I was making a large purchase and I was completely rushed by the associate«helping me». It was not busy at all, so I don’t see why I was rushed. Unfortunately, this is the closest MAC to me. Bummer.

Not one to normally write about a big department store but have to say every time I’ve been in here, good selection and good staff. A big shout out to a little bit older guy who works in the Men’s department. I believe he’s from India but I could be wrong. I can’t remember his name but he always takes great care of me. Tonight he saw me walking in and I was waiting for someone to help me with watches. He ran over to me, said hello(he remembered me from 2 months ago) and said, hold on one moment, I’ll get someone over here to help you… sure enough, he did just that. A few minutes later was on my way.

I’m starting to like this Dillard’s more and more. Nice staff, great designers, very clean, it’s a great place to shop. No one ever shops here, you can always get front row parking and the shoe department kept me occupied for an hour. Both Dillard’s and Macy’s at San Tan mall seem to be mini-version department stores. Macy’s use to be my go to place but Dillard’s is really growing on me.

So Dillards does not let girls try on dresses if they don’t look like they are going to buy. Which mommy and daddy might buy them. What jerks. Has no one ever seen Pretty Woman? Big big mistake.
