It’s a great place for the rates they charge. Front desk is friendly, rooms are quaint and clean. Beds are superb. It’s nice to be able to spread out in their 1 or 2 bedroom with kitchen units. And, nice to be able to cook a meal if you don’t want to eat out. I see mention of smoky rooms, but that has never been my experience. Bathrooms a bit dated, but always clean linens and really nice soap. Executive Manager, Dick Taylor keeps a close eye on the entire property and the crew is always working on paint, gardening etc to insure a pleasant visit.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving. It is one of those places that make you cringe and get the Lysol out. When I asked the cleaning lady to use a broom off her cart, I noticed that it was kept in a slot along with the toilet plunger. So, when she sweeps the vinyl floor in your room, she is spreading feces, in effect. I will never stay here again and would never recommend it to anyone.

A great little cosy and quiet place on a budget friendly staff has a tub and shower, outside entry and microwave and fridge in room clean and comfortable. However no a/c in room but this is not a warm climate here so not to worry they do provide a fan.

Yes, you get what you pay for, this isnt a Hilton, dont expect Hilton quality. That being said the room was warm and inviting, the woman running the hotel reminded me of my grandmother and I felt as invited as I do at my grandmothers house. It looks like the hotel was an apartment building at one time so I think most of the«rooms» have a fully functioning kitchen which is great for families visiting the area. We used the kitchen to prepare several meals, it was a nice break to campfire cooking! Also, they have laundry facilities.

Old and really tired. Two miserable nights in a bed that was collapsed in the middle. Road noise was high. Carpeting was dirty. It’s cheap, but still not worth it. Spend a little more and stay in a place you can sleep.

We loved the Westwynd. It is a bit of old-fashioned Americana. This nice place is not a cookie– cutter place. They keep a very quaint garden with pretty flowers. The room was impeccably clean. We left a tip for the housemaids. Loved the very friendly front desk girl, Linda. We have to go to Gig Harbor again next month and I rebooked a suite for 5 nights. I recommend this cute place. It’s unique, clean, and affordable. Too bad no hot tub though!

The motel gets pretty adequate reviews on Trip Advisor, so this past weekend for July 4th, I booked a room. The room was only $ 71, which wasn’t too bad for a holiday weekend. The room was pretty well kept and clean. They do allow pets, and I didn’t notice any pet hair or anything on sheets, comforters or floor, so I think they do a pretty good job in keeping the place tidy. Microwave in room is always a plus. And I didn’t smell any smoke at all in the room(and I’m very sensitive about smoke). Not a bad place to stop if you’re looking to stay cheap.

I chose this motel because it looked cute enough on the internet and being in a workshop all day I only needed a close place to sleep for one night. At first seemed silly to pay hundreds for a B&B that I’d only be sleeping at. Silly maybe, but undoubtably sweeter. My experience of Westwynd is «ya get what ya pay for.» As I entered the office the stage was set for the remainder of my experience. The office was saturated with the aroma of nicotine, as were the two kind ladies who assisted me. For $ 65 plus tax I got a single room which was designated as Non-Smoking but which had been a smoking room for so many years that the smell of nicotine permeated everything. Even my sheets smelled like nicotine so much so that I felt compelled to inspect them further. When I turned down the sheets I found some long hairs interwoven into the fibers. Well, ok, so unsavory to say the least but it was getting late, I wasn’t in the mood to start from scratch looking for new accommodations, and my immune system rocks so I pushed that mental image far, far away. Frequent travelers know that lots of economy accommodations that used to be smoking but are now non-smoking were never gutted and remodeled, but I think this one accommodated a litany of non-filter chain smokers. I was glad that I brought incense. The bed was soft and droopy as a squishy cotton ball. Felt like a hammock for about the first two seconds then I realized my back was going to be screaming WTF in the morning. There were no blackout curtains so the street and commercial lights outside glowed throughout the room like a gigantic night light. I think the best way to explain the room’s ambiance is to think about crashing at a friend’s grandparents’ place that hasn’t been remodeled since the late 60s or early 70s(these grandparents used to smoke a lot and decorated this guest room with bric-à-brac from their friends’ garage sales). The room was clean enough but not spic-n-span. It had a small, clean microwave and a one-person coffee pot. Larger rooms are available with more amenities for families or for those wanting a kitchenette. Westwynd offers no wi-fi. Before I made reservations, I was told that guests often surf on unsecured wi-fi but during my stay I never once found an unsecured connection. None of the local restaurants or establishments offer wi-fi. If you wanna get you some wi-fi, you have to get on the highway and drive. I found no healthy eating options nearby. The only espresso is a bus down the road where I bought an Americano that I wasn’t compelled to finish. There is a fruit and produce stand next to the espresso bus, so I shouldn’t say there are«no» healthy eating options. Cool if you’re vegan, I guess. Feeling conflicted between 2 stars and 3. Westwynd is probably ok if you’re cool with traveling on the cheap and ok with what goes along with cheap, but I’ve definitely had better experiences in economy lodging so I’m giving 2 stars.
