Worked with Mr. Olsen a bit over a year ago and figured we should review him so others know of our experience. The story is further below. Pros: Great communication in setting up appointment Fit us in with short notice Acted professionally Cons: Didn’t do as he said he would Could have caused our buying of a house to fall through Unapologetic We were working on buying our first house long distance. There were some hiccups getting the paperwork to us(title company used a wrong address) and we needed a mobile notary to get the paperwork done in time. This of course made the situation even more stressful than it already was. The title company found Dean Olsen via the web and we worked out a time and place to meet with Mr. Olsen. My wife was working that day so we setup a place near her work(a Taco Bell, I kid you not) so she could sign everything during her lunch. We were running about 5 minutes late in meeting him, so I gave him a call to let him know. It was then he figured out he was headed to the wrong Taco Bell(address had been given) and that he would be late as well. Thankfully he showed up shortly after we did. Mr. Olsen was very knowledgeable on where we needed to sign, initial, and where to affix a notary stamp on all the documents. Since we were signing for our first house, this was great. He had also printed out all of the paperwork that had never reached us due to the title company’s snafu. We thanked Mr. Olsen for fitting us into his schedule, since we needed the paperwork to arrive the next day to get the deal done by an already extended and«final» deadline. We looked up a UPS store that was less than 10 minutes away and verified the pickup time for next day delivery. Being aware of the time crunch we were in, he said he would get it sent off. We thanked him for this and even offered to take it ourselves to make sure it got done. His reply was something along the lines of «It’s my job and I’ve been paid to see the paperwork off.» Fast-forward to the next morning, when no paperwork arrives. In fact, two delivery times go by, with no paperwork. Worried that Mr. Olsen had sent it to the wrong address, he was contacted. From what I can recall, he told me went to a different postage service(a mailbox place that UPS picks up from). He said that he dropped off the package while the UPS truck was outside and that he was told the package would be sent overnight. He had no clue why the package hadn’t arrived yet. I then called the mailbox place he used, only to find out that there would be no way he could have gotten the package there in time for an overnight pickup, since the UPS truck would have come by earlier in the day. I then called Mr. Olsen back to inform him that he had missed the cutoff to send an overnight package. He did not apologize or offer to try and fix our situation. He didn’t have a reason as to why he had ignored our suggestion of the UPS store that he seemed to be alright with the day prior. This of course led to the signing of even more paperwork to get an extension to the following Monday(which thankfully every party agreed to).
