I’ve trusted my two polo horses with Alexis Barker, the owner of Lucky One Polo Farm, for many years. She’s extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and attentive to my horses, and though I live in Austin, it’s worth the hour long drive out to Giddings for the peace of mind she gives me. Lucky One Polo Farm opened about a year ago and started as lush hay fields. It is now home to 30+ horses and has multiple riding areas, including a polo field suitable for practice play and a hunt field with stadium and natural jumps. Lessons are available for many different riding disciplines, and I take advantage of the opportunities for combined training and polo. We have during-the-week practice games on the field at Lucky One with boarders and friends visiting from Lexington, Austin, and Houston. Each Saturday and Sunday during the spring and fall polo seasons, Alexis and her assistant, John, trailer my horses to Manor for playing at the Austin Polo Club. During the winter and summer, I dabble in combined training and go for trail rides. Alexis makes regular schooling and showing trips to Pine Hill, and we meet her and the horses at McKinney Roughs in Bastrop for trail rides. She’s very flexible and accommodating, and just makes it happen for us. Whatever your horse needs may be, she can help.
