I purchased a model from«The American History Store» as a gift. I expected the clerk to put the model in a box in front of me but instead he went into the back and brought out an already packaged one. Being the trusting customer I am, I figured it was fine. I carefully handled, stored and wrapped the gift to give my friend for Christmas. After my friend removed all of the wrapping paper, he proceeded to open the box that the model was packed in– only to discover that it was in pieces and completely unfixable. Disappointed but not hopeless, I got the receipt and we decided to bring the model back to the store. Unfortunately, their customer service was just as broken as the item I bought from them. The same clerk I bought the item from(probably the owner) refused to issue a refund, exchange, or a replacement even with the receipt, faulty model, and original packaging accounted for. What a waste of time, effort and money. I trusted this store– don’t make the same mistake.

A neat place with tons and tons of history books, two floors worth. If you want a history text or book for a souvenir for yourself or someone, be sure to stop here.

Spent a week in gettysburg. Had an interest in black powder muskets. Gave them a call to ask them about a 800 dollar item and was given this response. «What do you want? I’m very busy.» As a shoppe owner i’d fire you. As a customer i will now go elsewhere. I was shocked and quite taken back that they can treat their customers that way and still be in business. Dont go here, shop elsewhere.

I simply love this place. Two floors of historical topics, in book, audio, and video form. Some of the most treasured books in my collection have been purchased at this bookstore. I make it a habit to stop and pick up my copy of The Gettysburg Magazine. I could get it delievered to my door, twice a year, but it wouldnt be the same as hitting up this fine bookstore. the first floor is all civil war, while upstairs you will find items from many different historical eras. Upstairs you will also fine some collectible pieces. very tempting they are indeed. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. they will let you browse to your heart’s content. I always make this one of my first stops while in Gettysburg, as it always has something or other to lighten the load of my wallet.
