Signed up for a walking ghost tour and a visit to the Jennie Wade House. Our group of four were pretty excited as this house has been recognized as one of the most haunted houses in the U.S.(#6) as recognized by the Travel Channel amongst others. I am by no means a believer in the paranormal, however I am no sceptic either, so I entered our tour with an open mind. As we started out with our guide, Chris, we simply crossed the street to a stone wall that bordered the National Park which was across the street from the National Cemetery where Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. Chris told several ghost stories from the park and the cemetery while educating us on what a paranormal experience might look and feel like to the senses. We then moved about 150 yards to a grassy knoll that was closer to Jennie’s house. We were again told about more recent reports that supported several ghost legends and Chris always reinforced that there could be a smell, a vision, a touch or a noise when engaging the paranormal. This experience was heightened by the fact it was getting darker and the area was flooded by fireflies. At one point a firefly lit up about six inches from my face and It actually startled me! This part of the tour lasted almost an hour and to be honest I started to lose my attention and was slightly bothered that we weren’t actually«touring» anything and it was taking us so long to get to the sixth most haunted house in the U.S. However, after the experience I realized that this is an important part of the program as it presents you with a variety of paranormal events and educates you on things you can look for to maximize your experience. By the time we gazed upon the bullet riddled door which was the entrance to the house I was excited, hopeful and even a bit confident that we were going to have a successful experience. We were not disappointed. We entered the house and in each room Chris explained the various paranormal«residents» that have been documented by experts and some of the typical hauntings that have been reported. Well, on the second floor in the Widow’s house is when my wife encountered her’s. In the bedroom while looking in the mirror the cabinet door opened below. Several other guests supported that the door was DEFINITELY closed previously. I then took the attached photos. You cannot see the cabinet door but the mirror and the window to the right. I believe there to be a shadow/silhouette of a man in the curtains(my wife think it is just the pattern in the lace curtain) none the less we AGREE that our experience was REAL! If you are looking for a place where you see a full blown ghost appear and disappear this may or may not be the tour for you. However for $ 10(1 hour 45 minutes long) to experience one of the most haunted houses in America and have a high probability of having a more subtle paranormal experience, this tour is a must! The one aspect that would have heightened this for me would have been a little more time in the basement and keeping the lights off for a moment or two. I think the fact that there appeared to be a number of others in our group of 24 that kept an opened mind helped enhance the experience. I could see where a skeptic in the group could bring things down. Our guide, Chris, was energetic and knowledgable and her excitement was contagious! She was a great story teller and we will look for her to be our guide on our next tour! If I visit again I would definitely want to experience a midnight tour if offered and possibly a tour of the orphanage.

Did a tour with Ghostly Images where they actually have an actor portraying a ghost of a confederate soldier. It was great! Very interactive, thought provoking, funny and enlightening. I highly recommend Ghostly Images.

We went on this tour because of it’s great reviews but we must have gotten the wrong guide. We did the orphanage tour and spent most of the time sitting in the dark«waiting» for a spirit to present itself. The basement was a good setting and the guide was informative but the majority of the audience was teenagers and younger and the guide was more historical instead of entertaining. Most of the tour was the basement and then standing in a parking lot while the tour guide spoke about ghost stories and what previous tours reported seeing. You could tell all the kids were bored as soon as we left the basement and went outside. I would have like more engagement, more spooks and a touch of comedy to entertain and keep the interest of the youger audience. The vote was unanimous to never do this tour or a tour with Ghostly Images again. The tour guide was informative(good if it was a college lecture class) but not at all entertaining.

After experiencing a «so so» ghost walk the night before, my son and myself were still hungry for more so we signed up for the orphanage tour and we were not disappointed at all! Our guide Alexsis was amazing balancing both great historical knowledge of the area with perfect story telling abilities, making the almost two hours of tour the highlight of our visit to Gettysburg(Besides the battlefield tour of course). Highly recommend!

In my mind there are two types of Gettysburg ghost tours… the theatrical kind where you walk around with a guy in an overcoat with a lantern, or the kind where you hold seances in the dark recesses of legitimately haunted places. Ghostly Images is definitely the latter. These tours are held by very enthusiastic, informed and professional guides, often with the help of a psychic(which is actually pretty cool!). They are way more intense than the typical walking tour, and for that reason little children probably would not fare well. Ghostly Images are interested in evidence, and often bring ghost hunting instruments for the use of the people taking the tour. My husband and I did two tours with Ghostly Images during our recent long weekend in Gettysburg, the orphanage and the Jennie Wade house. Both were spooky, informative and fun… everything you could ask for in a ghost tour!
