Another nice visit to our local restaurant Good breakfast among locals simple and efficient

I’ve been coming here for many years. It’s typical diner food with reasonable pricing. The staff is always friendly and attentive. While this place certainly has a loyal following, I prefer the Lincoln Diner. The food preparation here is a bit bland and the menu selection is somewhat limited. However, I give it 4 stars because of the great service and the consistency of the cooking. I do recommend stopping in if you’re looking for reasonably priced, typical diner fare.

I was looking forward to eating a nice steak sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayonnaise. Be warned. They only have hamburger rolls. They put the minute steak on a soft hamburger roll! Unk! I would have left immediately, but I was hungry. So, I endeavored to eat this sad looking hamburger look-a-like. They also make a horrible corn beef on rye. My husband could hardly taste the rye in the bread. Apparently, the rye bread is a blended with regular flour to make it bland. If you want a great corn beef on rye… go to O’Roark’s Tavern in Gettysburg. O’Roark’s makes the best corn beef sandwiches on rye!

Great home cooking and friendly service. I highly recommend this place when you want a wholesome meal at a very fair price.

Good food, good service. Waited a while(30mins) for breakfast. They were somewhat busy, but not packed full. Waitress was nice and kept apologizing for the long wait. Would definitely go back. Cheap breakfast.

Went for breakfast. Just ok coffee. The most tasteless home fries I have ever eaten. Super salty ham. Menu only lists a tiny section of eggs & omelets. They supposedly have french toast & pancakes but not sure how you would know that. Prices decent. Staff is friendly. Do yourselves a favor and go up the street to Perkins.

Food was not great — coffee was even worse. Service could use some improvement as it took us over an hour to get out(food was delivered 10 min after ordering… clearly not a kitchen issue). Won’t be going back.

Nice family diner. It is obvious this is where the locals come for breakfast. The food is good and the price reasonable. On walking in, I was sure we would have to wait for a table as the whole room was full. The hostess however took us to another room immediately — the place is really large! For breakfast, the fare is pretty standard — eggs, omelettes, waffles, etc. one exception is scrapple — never heard of it, so had to try it. For anyone else who doesn’t know, scrapple seems to be ground sausage deep fried to a crunchy exterior. It comes out looking like a deep fried hash brown. It is really quite tasty — though I’m sure it shot the cholesterol through the roof!

What else can one say– this is a diner. Food reasonable cost and great value. Don’t be afraid to eat here. It will not be a memorable experience yet it will not break the bank when you are paying for a large crowd. Specifics, baby BBQ rack very good. Chocolate cake super dry. Cheeses cake good but not a wow. Haddock just OK. Grilled cordon blue less than exceptional. Server helpful and engaged.

Tasted better than it looked! Had steaks and crab cakes and fried fish /shrimp and pasta that were all good. All dinner plates came with choice of salads and veggies. Good selection, fast service, did good with kids. 5 stars for the type of diner /cheap but not fast food place that it is. Not at a all fine dining — it knows its place and did it well.

Never again! We went there for bunch waited to be seated. The only thing good was our waitress. My granddaughter ordered pancakes the syrup was watered down so bad it had no flavor. As we were waiting for our order a lady ordered a drink the waitress brought her a drink it was not what she ordered. The waitress oh wrong table and took the drink to a lady at another table. I almost puked the first lady took a sip that’s when she knew it was not what she ordered. Thank goodness she was not waiting on us. I would not go back even if it was free.

Waited 15 minutes to get a menu. Then we waited another 8 minutes before we decided to walk out. Other people were upset too.

We have been here over four times and never a bad item. The meats I hear are farm fresh. Nothing has been added to the don’t get list.

Short Version: Large amounts of good food for a fair price! Full Story: In an era of fast-food«value meals» this is a refreshing alternative. I just had a breakfast of a western(ham, onions, green peppers, cheese, etc) omelette, home fried sliced potatoes, wheat toast and beverage for $ 5.95($ 6.31 with tax) plus tip! Elapsed time = 30 min. Will a gourmet food show ever feature this eatery? No! Will I eat there again? You betcha! The eggs were great while the potatoes were somewhat bland. Some of the reviewers here don’t seem to have noticed that every table has salt, pepper and ketchup, plus the server will fetch other condiments if asked. In addition to the food value, this is one of the increasingly rare places where the entire staff is not simply employed — they WORK together to put out large numbers of accurate orders as quickly as possible. On this outing, the very busy cashier/hostess used a free minute to clear a table. A bus-person took and delivered a beverage order. One server aided another without being asked to do so. TIP: If you are visiting from another region, try a side order of scrapple. This meatloaf-like favorite is sliced and then grilled. What’s in it? Everything except the hog’s squeal. Just don’t consume this before having laboratory blood work done or your doctor may prescribe new meds. But, properly grilled to a crisp exterior while still mushy inside, it is worth sampling.

Eat where Ancient People eat. They are picky, and are on fixed incomes so you know where they eat will have decent food at decent prices. On dates I try to impress significant others by taking them here and making up stories about the old couples around us. Brief moments like this should clue me in as to why I’m single more often than not.

This place is all right. Picture a diner like menu with mediocre food. The staff are very nice, almost like family, but temper your expectations for gourmet here. They do have a beer license and you can take up to 212 packs with you.

We stopped by for breakfast and it was super busy, but we were seated fast. Breakfast was great, service was good, price was best(cheap eats)! :) Yes, it does look like a much older crowd though, but we don’t mind! Mom and Pop Diner style place! We would eat here again!
