This café was odd. Nothing seemed to match, and there was no music. The beverage fridge was half empty, and the fountain machines were there but not set up. It had a full coffee menu, but didn’t smell like coffee at all. We went in for lunch around 1pm and the only other person we saw in the 45 minutes we were there was an older lady coming in for her daily free ice cream. I know this because it was widely discussed by the staff, along with how clean the windows looked after being wiped, the finer points of what is supposed to be in the fridge, and in what order the chalkboard menu items should be displayed. The toasted sandwiches were fine and the bread was nice and fresh, but it would have been better if they weren’t cold in the middle. Really, the food was nothing special. I’d say it would be fine for takeout, except it took longer than I would want to wait if I was in a hurry. There’s probably a better place to go nearby, I’d say skip this one and move on.

I was super hungry and was feeling a sandwich for lunch Price: Look to spend about $ 8 for a sammy and chips. Parking: Street. Food: My first two orders for a sandwich got turned down because they were out of some ingredients. Note: It was around 11AM and the place was empty. In the end I ended up with a turkey wrap and it was not memorable. I scarfed it down because I was starving. Note; they serve Ice cream.

I was really disappointed with my experience here, especially after reading good reviews. Let’s start with the service. There was ONE employee. She wasn’t mean or rude, but just seemed completely apathetic that we were there. There were four tables, one of which still hadn’t been cleared off, and we were the only two customers inside. We weren’t sure if we should sit or go to the counter, because there was no sign(that I saw).(For future reference, you order at the counter.) The server informed us that they were out of turkey and roast beef, which basically eliminated half of the items on the small menu. Not a problem… we got breakfast sandwiches instead. My friend asked for a fountain soda, but was told the fountain was new and wasn’t hooked up yet. Again, not a problem, but when she asked for a cup with ice(for her canned soda), the server seemed annoyed. When it was time to pay, we were informed that the credit card machine was not working. WHY were we not told this BEFORE we ordered? I normally do not carry cash, but was lucky this time. The one saving grace is that the food wasn’t terrible. That’s why I’m giving it two stars instead of one. We will not be returning.

This is a solid place for Gettysburg. Very affordable and usually quiet inside. Coffee is good and cheap for latte or cappuccino. Sandwiches are fresh and definitely have some flavor.

Was looking for a quick breakfast. This place is so cute! Just got a simple bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and it was to perfection and you could tell it was fresh! :)

I only had Mr. G’s Ice cream here but it was delicious. Mr. G is located a couple blocks up the street. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and asked me if I would like to try and flavor before I purchased. The guy behind the counter recommended the watermelon ice cream. I tried it and it was delicious, the chocolate chips added to the effect. I had a waffle cone and enjoyed it immensely. I love old fashioned ice cream!

Second time in 2 days I’ve eaten here. Brought 3 teenage boys here yesterday and they polished off their sandwiches and yummy kettle-style chips. We waited a bit for the food but it wasn’t a problem because we had time to kill. Brought my husband back here today and we are currently sitting outside, eating our sandwiches. Husband liked the Turkey and cheese and my Ham & cheese is equally delicious. Seating inside is ice-cream parlor style but the umbrella-covered tables and chairs outside are great for catching a breeze and people watching. Kids working here are polite and careful as they prepare the food. I consider this a great find!

Way understaffed. I waited 30 minutes for two decent sandwiches. I think there was maybe two or three people in front of me. Coffee was good. If you want ice cream you won’t have to wait because they will stop making the food ordered by the person in front of you to get you your ice cream cone.

Café on the Square is tucked into the southwest corner of Lincoln Square in the space that used to be Bender’s Card Shop. Three of us decided to give it a try yesterday, and we were all very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Reuben sandwich on ciabatta bread, and it was a winner. The bread was fresh and chewy, the corned beef, lean and thinly sliced. A good pile of sauerkraut, the right amount of Thousand Island dressing, with melted Swiss on top. It was perfect. I usually prefer my Reuben on rye bread, but this was a nice change. My lunch companions had a tuna wrap and a turkey sandwich, and they were as enamored with their meals as I was. The place is bright and clean, and perhaps a little sterile. There’s no display of meats or cheeses, and unless you sit down and read the menu, you wouldn’t know if it’s a coffee shop, an ice cream parlor, or delicatessen. Or maybe all three? It may lack an identity, but if they continue to make such good sandwiches, I’ll make it a frequent stop for lunch during my work week.
