So since I always pass this place when I am in Germantown I decided to stop in and try some pie. First off, there shop is pretty cute. I just love their glowing cupcake sign. Plus the people who work their are friendly and really helpful. Now on to their pies… everyone talks about the Slap your mama pie. Now I will admit for a chocolate pie, its good however it does not compare to their strawberry pie. My oh my their strawberry pie is fantastic. It has a gel consistency with the most amazing crust. Its my new favorite pie. I can’t wait to try their other types of pies!

What can I say, we have quickly become«Dukes» at the Pie Folks! We have carved a path of trying all the different flavors of pie, at the expense of our daily caloric intake. Thus far we have tried the award winning«Slap yo Mama Chocolate Pie; or «Slap» as they reference to it in the store. It is as advertised, very good, we prefer it cold, out of the refrigerator. Right up there for us is the Apple Pie, Pecan Pie, and the German Chocolate; you can not go wrong; the German Chocolate has some characteristics of the«Slap», so it can’t go wrong! We also ventured in to the Coconut Pie, the award winning Strawberry Pie; they were good, but the previously mentioned flavors outperformed to our taste buds. We also gave the Peanut Butter Pie a shot, it is perfect for the Peanut Butter fanatic, but that was not us. It was dense consistency, with a peanut butter flavor to match; in the future, we will probably go with the Peanut Butter and Chocolate, being the Reese’s Cup fans we are. I do not see our Duke status being in jeopardy, as there are more flavors to try, including a Key Lime flavor, and a Cherry, that you need to special order.

The pie and cupcake were really good. It was unique because the pie was like a gel and not a traditional soft pie. I had the strawberry and would definitely recommend this to a friend. The service was also great and is a cool new bakery shop.

I love this place and the concept of it. It feels so home-grown, with the shallow-dish pies, sandwiches, cupcakes, and cookies. Chalkboards tout specials, and little curtained windows framing tiny parlor style lunch tables make this place cute. This said, you must know by the word«Folks» in the title, that the food is southern style, down-home cooking. Sometimes the sugar crystals can be discerned in the pies. I think the crust is a hair bland(or maybe underdone), but I am a big pie crust fan. The selection they afford guests is so impressive, considering the smaller size of the shop. I wouldn’t expect to find anything besides the basics and maybe a Slap Yo Mama(sugary chocolate silk pie) or Sweet Potato pie here, and that’s what they do well. I haven’t had their key lime pie, but I’ve been to the keys too, honey, and AIN’T NOBODYTRYINGTOBUYANAUTHENTICKEYLIMEPIEINMEMPHIS! *whew* That said, stop in! Great for holidays, celebrations, a special treat for the kids, or housewarmings.

Ron and Audrey love what they do and Pie is their blessing to the Mid south. My wife and I have not had a pie in a while but will be coming there very soon! I will say we enjoyed the Chocolate pies and I wish the very best to The Pie Folks! Keep up the fantastic work! Please try them!

I want to go here every day and order pie! They had at least a dozen options, maybe more: apple, strawberry, peanut butter chocolate, Bourbon, pecan and more. I tried the slap yo mama chocolate pie that everyone raves about and the blueberry pie. The blueberry pie was delicious and the crust was buttery and flaky – a real treat if you like blueberry. Now, let me say, if you visit the pie folks and do not try the chocolate pie, you are missing a few screws up top! The chocolate pie was one of the best things I have ever eaten. My grandmother makes a killer chocolate pie and even my chocolate pie is really good. But the chocolate was perfectly sweet with a silky consistency that I have never gotten from a homemade chocolate custard/pudding pie. Seriously, stop being dumb and just order the Slap Yo Mama and not the silly gluten free option!

I hate to give bad reviews but I hate to receive bad food I have paid for even more. After a trip to Key West, my husband and I have been on a key lime pie kick so he stopped and got one from Pie Folks. The pie looked pretty but had a full layer of whipped cream. Those in the Keys only put it on the edge of the crust — this didn’t really matter to me though because I do like the cream. Upon slicing into the the pie though I see the dreaded green dye. Why would you put dye in food that doesn’t need it whatsoever! This just doesn’t make any sense to me. Traditional key lime pie is a creamy yellow color from the egg yolks. Also, this pie was sweet. Key limes are tart and so one would expect a key lime pie to be a little tart and a little sweet. A suggestion to Pie Folks: remove the dye, you don’t need it and add more key lime juice. I do realize that not everyone likes there pie tart but it really could use more to get a little closer. To a traditional pie. I will be making my own from now on. They are just too easy to make. 3 egg yolks beaten for five minutes Add one can sweetened condensed milk and beat another two minutes Slowly add ½ cup key lime juice and beat until combined(I add a little more… in between ½ and 2⁄3) Pour into pie crust — graham cracker or my new favorite, shortbread! Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees but don’t let it brown on top. You just want it to set up somewhat. Refrigerate at least four hours. You can make your own cream by whipping about ½ — 1 cup of heavy cream with about 2 – 3 T sugar.

I recently went in and ordered a Slap Yo Mama Chocolate Pie and an Apple Pie and both were SUPERDELICIOUS! The staff at the counter were very friendly and helped me make my pie selection. I highly recommend this place and will certainly be back and recommend it to my friends!

Was the best pie ever. The millionaire mocha pie was delish. Ms. Audrey also gave me a lemon cup cake and a bite of ‘slap ya momma’ pie. Ms. Audrey has a new lifetime customer anytime I am in that area. Go by and get a sample and see for yourself. Not just about the pies either, Ms. Audrey is very sweet and I look forward to my next visit. Thanks Ms. Audrey.

Yup — it’s about the pie and the pie was great. I visited Memphis for Thanksgiving and my mom ordered us 5 pies from here. She comes here regularly and was stunned at some of the negative reviews. In her experience, the service has been great. Plus the owner goes above and beyond to meet orders. Sounds like there have been some problems over the past year because a neighbors pipes burst which ended up shutting down the Pie Folks for a bit and communication was not the best. The caused confusion and slowed down business which may mean this place will go under. If you want them to keep making good pie for you to eat, spread the word by bringing these delicious pies to your friends.

The owners refused to serve a person with a service dog. They berated them and threw them out of the store. What kind of place refuses to serve a person with a service dog? I will never spend a dime in this store

Hands down, the best pies we tasted on our cross country trip which was dedicated to barbecue and pie. Audrey makes wonderful crusts and fillings. We tried and loved the Slap Yo Mama, Mammaw’s Apple, Hallelujah Mocha Java and Company Iz Coming Coconut pies. All were delicious. Just writing about it makes we hungry. This place is well worth a trip. If we lived in Memphis, we would be there often. And the owners are the nicest people.
