Memphis Ortho put me in a brace for my wrist when I broke it a few months ago. They called the other day and needed my address so they could send me a bill. I asked why I was being charged because I pay my co pay every time. They told me I was being charged for the brace since my insurance didn’t cover the full bill of the brace. I told them that is not my issue and that I should have been notified of something given to me if Insurance didn’t cover it all because I wouldn’t have taken it if I knew that. I already had a brace I bought at the store but I was told the one I was being given at Memphis Ortho was better. No mention of insurance not covering it all. I contacted my insurance company and asked if the doctors office would know if something is not covered or fully converted by insurance. My insurance company told me they may or may not know and if they don’t they can go on the insurance website for doctors through my insurances site and look it up. That’s what my insurance company told me. The point is Memphis Ortho just assumed I would pay for something regardless if it was covered by my insurance company or not. And if they didn’t know they could have done more to find out for a fact before giving me something then sending me the bill. Just a heads up to everyone that they did this to me. I personally don’t like a doctors office not notifying me of something that insurance wont cover then sending me a bill. My personal belief is that is not right. You can’t just assume a customer has money to pay for something so you don’t notify them at all. I will not be coming back here. I am still in the middle of this and trying to work this out. Heads up if you go here.
