A few friends and I happened to wander into Clermont this past Saturday afternoon. The winery is situated in a lovely setting, with rolling hills in the distance in one direction, and rows of vines in the other. Our tasting was enjoyable, and we found the staff to be very friendly. Full disclosure, I don’t have a sophisticated palate when it comes to wine, but Clermont more than satisfied my casual interest.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate my friend’s birthday. It was a really nice location, and we had the whole place to ourselves. The wine tasting was only $ 5 per person, and while you aren’t able to select which wines you would like to taste, we did enjoy most of the ones included in the selection. We did not end up purchasing any bottles, but we really appreciated getting to talk with the owners and learning about the history of the vineyard. I would recommend going on a day that you can relax, sit on the back porch, and enjoy the gorgeous views of the nearby Catskills.

Nice winery. Was very impressed with the wine tasting — all the wines were good, and the tasting was only $ 5. Beautiful winery in a rustic remodeled barn. The vineyard looked nice for a stroll, but since it was a chilly day, we’ll do that when we return in the summer. Bring your own food for a picnic near the vineyard. The owner, Al, took the time to tell us about the workings of the vineyard. Definitely worth a stop.
