Great homemade burgers & fries! Would definitely go back and worth the drive from Danbury!

How many times have you stopped at an old-looking drive in hoping you’ve found a place would be worthy of a Calvin Trillin road food review, only to find it is the usual disk of flaccid hamburger and frozen fries? Not here. The owner has a background in fine dining, and it shows: great fresh ingredients carefully prepared. House made fresh onion rings, fresh cut crispy fries, and always a great selection of sausages. Hoping he gets a year ’round place, as I miss it too much in winter.

Discovering good road food is always nice, especially when it’s on a road you frequent. In this case, you pull off of Route 7, onto the gravel lot and pull up next to a very old, red and white food shack(20 layers of paint, ordering windows with a view of the cook’s gut and a cantilevered overhang to protect you from the elements while you order). I’ve been here twice and ordered chicken sausages both time. They were perfectly grilled, crunchy outside with a juicy snap when you bite into them. Dijon mustard artfully applied and nestled in a standard bun, it’s a perfectly satisfying salty protein snack. This time, I ordered onion rings as well. White onions in a light, crispy, slightly oily batter. Pepper was mixed in the batter; salt added on top. Lip-smackin’ good. The only thing I wanted was some brewed tea to wash it all down; all they had was Snapple. Overall, just what the doctor ordered for the drive home.(Not a real doctor.)

Some of the freshest tastiest fast food. They’re always very nice, their dogs are spectacular and sides are very solid. They have a farm stand going at the same time with local produce(or semi-local) it’s from a family farm in Ellenville NY. Any kind of dog is good, their pulled pork is more than adequate, and the fries are beautiful. Cash Only, and the hours are a little eratic.

Great little place by the side of the road. Staff is always super friendly and recognize regulars, which is nice. The burgers are wonderful; they have a unique taste different from any restaurant burgers I’ve had. I personally love it, but it could be a personal preference. The fries, however, are objectively fantastic. Cheap, tasty, friendly.

Driven by this place 100 times, finally stopped in for lunch. It’s a small red shack right on route 7 in Wilton. A couple picnic tables. Nice little spot, road noise is a bit loud but not unbearable. Had the Wilton Dog, which is a hot dog with onion, chili, bacon, and a cheese whiz sauce on it. Also, had some onion rings. Both were good, not fantastic but ok for lunch. The onion ring portion was a bit small. Service was good.

I had some of the best onion rights of my life here. The onion flavor comes through and tastes strangely delicate, unlike the mass of fried batter that you might find with a lesser onion ring. The pulled pork sandwich was wonderful, although maybe they could consider toasting the bun. My husband had a hot dog with pickled okra, and went back for a corn dog — I don’t know what they put in their batter, but it’s awesome. My friend Mark had a burger and fries, and he seemed very happy. Altogether, this is everything I expect from road food, and in a very pleasant setting.
