Excellent breakfast and coffee. Was in town over Valentine’s Day weekend and enjoyed a delicious breakfast and great friendly service. Felt right at home. Recommend this place for breakfast or lunch.

This place is amazing for breakfast. Such an imaginative menu. The fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. Had the french toast special w peanut butter crème cheese and fluff and banana all i can say is OMG! My husband had the corned beef hash omelette it was huge and delicious and came with paper thin home fries. This is a must stop breakfast place.

I use to love this restaurant, sadly last time I was there(about 2 weeks ago) that changed quickly. Our waitress pressured us for our order, when she brought the food she asked if my husband want butter & syrup for his pancakes? Really why didn’t she just bring it? Also she brought us hash browns instead of home fries & acted upset that we still wanted home fries & she had to get them. She did bring home fries right back. Then she said she would be right back with butter, syrup & a warm up for our coffee. Needless to say we never saw her again well, at our table that is. Because she stood behind the counter & counted her tips while we waited for the stuff we needed to eat our food! When my husband’s food was cold we asked the bus girl for our check. My husband went to the counter to pay & the waitress would not even look at him & continued to count her tips laugh & joke with other staff. Now I am a former waitress I have NEVER stiff anyone on a tip because I know things happen but we did not tip this girl. I am going to try this resturant again today because I love the Eggs Benedict so much but if the service is anything like the last time I will never go back.

Great breakfast place right in the middle of Geneva. We came here with a bachelorette party over the summer and had a delicious brunch. One staple item: french toast with Captain Crunch cereal in the batter. The portions are huge and the cost extremely reasonable. Only downside was the service. Our waitress forgot about us several times — ordering took a long time, as did receiving our food. However, everyone was very cordial and extremely nice. Overall, a great place to eat — but come early, because it gets pretty packed on the weekends!

My fiancé and I are new to the area and have been steadily trying out the restaurant scene in Geneva. Seeing as this was the highest rated breakfast place on Unilocal,we decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the place was packed — so that must have been indicative that it was good, right? A steady Sunday brunch crowd. The service seemed to be a bit disorganized. Someone rapidly taking drink orders, someone clearing tables, the other taking orders. It was a bit frustrating having 4 different people asking the same questions. It seemed to be a bit expensive for breakfast to me. I ordered the Chunk Monkey Waffles which was described as having butter pecans, chocolate chips, and sliced bananas. Sounded good enough, but once it arrived it was one small waffle with four small slices of banana and mini chips. Certainly did not seem like it was worth $ 6.75. My partner ordered the sloppy omelet which was worded strangely on the menu. It seemed as though you were to receive ham, sausage, and bacon in an omelet, but the waitress later returned to ask him to pick one. This was also very small and not worth the price. Overall this place seemed like a tourist trap, a place you go to staying at the hotel across the street. Probably won’t be coming back…

They don’t waste money on ambience but the food is outstanding. Typical breakfast place with great prices and good selection. There were six of us and amongst us we ordered one of each type of breakfast menu item: waffles, omelettes, eggs pancakes, and egg sandwich. Everyone said their meal was outstanding.

There is a post from a Anne B about my situation at Captains room, I have witnesses to the owners husband actions that day. Her statements are far from the truth. The owners husband was F bombing me all the way out the door. He told his wife that I threatened to go get my gun. This was all over sales tax that was not on the bill. It was on the back of the check that I was not aware of. I guess he was in a bad mood he just got smart mouthed instead of explaining to me the tax was on the back. She wants the truth all she has to do is ask Jamie K. and his wife.

Went to The Captains Room yesterday for breakfast with my son and fiancé. Unbelievable from the food to the service… it was down right excellent!!! I was a cook and chef for many years so I know good food as well as service. One of my favorite things to eat is breakfast… and if you like comfort food classics with an original twist, this is the only place in the finger lakes to go… and the staff was also excellent, true hospitality!!! This is now our Sunday morning breakfast spot when we go out to eat!!!

Coming home from Watkins Glen for a music festival/Nascar Race and need something special to cure those hangover blues? Look no further than this special hole in the wall diner in Geneva! I came here with 5 of my friends on Monday afternoon and we were able to be seated right away. Don’t come here expecting fancy décor or dressed up servers, this ain’t that kind of joint. This is that special kind of place that the owner greets you from behind the counter and all the locals look up to see who just came in. We were presented with our menus and silverware and asked for our drink order, waters and coffee all around, as per usual. I began perusing the menu and realized this place was something special almost immediately. Not a single item on the menu is over $ 8, WHAT??? I chose to order the Peanut Butter Captain Crunch French Toast(quite the mouth full) and a side of corned beef hash. A full stack I believe was $ 5 and it was everything I was hoping for. Perfectly cooked and served with a Wegman’s maple syrup container which I admittedly abused my toast with. I believe the hash is canned, but I didn’t care, I love the canned, crispy flattop hash. Others at my table order the eggs benny, veggie omelet, the snuffalufagus(waffle infused with bacon and sausage and topped with eggs), and a sweet potato blueberry pancake. All of which I was told were amazing. We finished out meal and headed to the counter to pay our bill. Since they don’t ring in their orders into a Micros we were able to pay seperately. My total bill came to $ 8, which was the best, most filling meal I have ever had for that price. If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely be hitting up this gem in quiet Geneva, NY!

WOW! This is a breakfast fit for a KING not just a captain. This is an amazing family owned diner. Everything we had(and there were 9 of us) was so good. The Italian French toast(on homemade Italian bread) is a must. This breakfast is a steal at these prices. LOVED it.

We were in NY over the weekend for a wedding and decided to stop here for brunch on our way out of town. It was 10:45 on a Sunday. I wanted breakfast and my adult son wanted a burger for lunch so this seemed like it would be the perfect place. When we started to look at the menu(which said that lunch service was from 11 – 2 daily) I asked if we could order lunch a few minutes early since it wasn’t yet 11. The girl at the counter asked the cook and he snarled that there was no lunch, only breakfast. I looked the menu over again and saw no mention of Sunday only being breakfast. He didn’t even bother asking what we were interested in. I downed my coffee, paid, and left. I’ve never felt less welcome in a dining establishment.

water st has better food and prices, but both owners gossip too much putting everyone’s business out there. captains room fires her employees after accusing them of stealing then goes back to tell them she knows they didn’t steal but she already replaced them. i will drive to friendly’s or denny’s or star diner…

Great breakfast spot. Prices are really cheap so don’t expect a 5 star meal but good solid breakfast with a pretty creative menu. Unique hash browns are a must try and are actually a sort of hash brown/home fry hybrid. Only weird thing is if you’re paying with a card you have to go next door to the smoke shop to pay and there’s an extra $ 1 fee. While paying I ended up buying a winning scratch ticket at the place so it worked out for me, but a little strange all the same. The End.

Stay away! Prices are very cheap, but so is the quality of the food they serve. We had the pancakes, which are so thick they were raw in the middle; they tasted like old boxed pancake mix. There wasn’t enough powder sugar in this place to hide that disgusting taste, and trust me they spread powder sugar liberally on them. The generic, old and bent syrup bottle was dirty and sticky, leaving a horrible impression and us having to use a napkin to be able to handle it. The eggs and potato breakfast was bland and tasteless, I requested hot sauce and salt just to add a bit of flavor to it. Overall not a good place. There is no real competitor close by, therefore there is no incentive to improve.

Captain’s room is probably one of the better breakfast places in Geneva. Prices are so cheap, and you get what you pay for. I ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes. It was decent and the pancakes were huge. I also ordered a side of two eggs and toast. My meal came out to $ 6… Cheap! Cash only place. Service is a bit slow, probably because it was packed.
