Interstate Heating & Air

If you need a new heating or air conditioning unit installed in the Finger Lakes, go somewhere else!
I bought a house in 2010 that has a Tappan central air unit covered by a 10 year warranty. The only company I can deal with for work on this unit is Interstate, and they have been very shady and manipulative. For example, this summer I had to wait 2 months for a part for the air conditioner to work. Conveniently, all of the freon leaked out and I was given a $ 250 bill to refill the coolant when the part FINALLY came in.
And now, the heater isn’t working (of course) and it needs a new heat exchange which should be covered under the warranty, but I was just given a long reason about why I’m going to have to pay $ 1000 for the part which may or may not get refunded, even though it is covered under warranty.
Long story short, this company is a perfect example of the stereotype you worry about with a service company… they are all about nickel and dime-​ing you in every possible way.
