A slightly different sampling menu. Try the sassafras! However, the tasting host, on a Saturday night, really took the fun out of the experience. She may well have been sampling the goods, herself, but was clearly not on task with full bar. «The pecan whiskey tastes just like pecans». Um, no kidding, and no, it doesn’t. No I don’t want to see your pics of he moon shiners. A later visit yielded a better tasting experience. Try the mud and sassafras.

Davy Crockett’s has a phenomenal whiskey. There are better moonshines in the area but their whiskey is the specialty and a must-stop place on every Gatlinburg visit. They don’t always put the Southern Pecan on the sampling table. Be sure to ask for it. It might be the best flavored whiskey that I have ever tasted.

One of the four distilleries in Gatlinburg, these folks offer several whiskeys, cream liquors, and moonshines. The product was generally quite good, although the woman running the tasting did not seem to have any idea about her products(when asked, «what’s the difference between the whiskey and the shine,» she answered honestly, «I don’t know, that’s what the distillers are for.») On the quality of the product, a 4-star, but knock 1 for service.

This was so much fun. Walk up and get free samples. Very tasty. It was so good i bought a bunch. I wish the laws were different and you could ship. But no deal. This is a must.

Whiskey was good but the barkeep was rude and not talkative. The regular whiskey had the best flavor to me while all the others were sweet and not really balanced for enjoying on their own. Shop was small but you could see them doing some work inside bottling and such. Bought a bottle of the regular whiskey which I would rate 4 out of 5 stars as it was quite delicious with notes of sweet maple and smoke. Just a little too sweet and not a unique enough flavor to be perfect, it falls short of the main top shelf brands.

We were in the store during the week of 4th of July, 2013 and loved it! I wish we could order some online like you can with wine manufacturers. I sampled three of four of the whiskeys(several times!) and bought 3 bottles of Mud and one bottle of Chocolate. I will keep up with this manufacturer to see if they will ever sell online. Love the live music. Danced with my wife for a minute. Wish it was a bigger dance floor!

I had a good ol’ fun time stopping in here! While I was strolling through Downtown Gatlinburg on a chilly Saturday evening, I decided to check out the Gatlinburg Barrelhouse. This store has a dark rustic atmosphere with a live distillery in the front area/window and there was live bluegrass music with banjos being played. They make and sell(by the bottle) Davy Crocketts Tennessee Whiskey, Davy Crocketts Salted Caramel Liqueur, Chokin’ Chicken Tennessee Vodka, Fire Tower Cinnamon Bourbon Whiskey and Cooter Brown Blended Whiskey. Tried a sample of the Davy Crockett Tennessee Whiskey which was Strong and had a smoky flavor — 90 Proof. They also sell souvenir merchandise including Davy Crockett t-shirts and posters. Great place to pick up gifts for adults(21& over)! I did not purchase any whiskey on this trip because I was ultimately heading home via plane(no liquids allowed in carry-ons). Another trip(via auto) to the Great Smoky Mountains is in the works!
