Great place would be five stars if it had better shelter, potable water and was always open.

This is the last rest stop on the CA border before a long stretch(68 miles) into OR. Reachable from either North or South I-5, it is possibly the finest, prettiest rest stop in all of CA. Divided into two halves, north and south, it has a visitors center and a magnificent lawn with picnic tables right beside the Klamath River. Maintained by handicapped workers from nearby, it is kept absolutely flawless and immaculate. Bravo to these hard workers! Plan to bring a picnic lunch and have a perfect break before hitting the road again. This is a MUST for travelers in both directions. Be aware that for those traveling into OR, the state government does not supply this CA visitors center with OR brochures except between May and Oct.

Hi! I like to Unilocal gas stations and Rest Areas. If you take this route, although very very beautiful, it’s very tiring. This is the perfect stop to stretch the legs and get the blood pumping again. Not only that, but sometimes this route gets really bad weather, so it’s nice to have a place to stop and let the weather go bye bye. Restrooms are always clean, and that’s really why you stop at a rest area: to take a dump!
