Alas, some of you have probably read my review of Methodist Rehab to which I had to go through therapy to have use of my finger again, but this man… Dr. Vo is the one that rebuilt it. After my finger was shattered I was advised to go see an orthopedist for further diagnostic. Dr. Vo was recommended to me by another Dr as one of the TOP hand surgeons in Texas. Done and done. This is my hand we’re talking about… First of all, Dr. Vo is so busy. He’s like a tornado whipping through each exam room, seeing all his patients… but not rushed. Always answered ALL my questions… but as soon as we were done… he was gone with a swish! Also, such a nice guy. When he walked in and I took off my finger brace he goes«Wow…that’s really something… what happened.» I relayed the story how my beloved beast of a dog that basically did this. He laughed and said«You’re not the first hand I’ve rebuilt because of a dog».(laugh? You know Dr’s and their sense of humor). So he told me while looking at my x-rays that my finger was so broken he had to do some major reconstructive surgery on it. Oy, I knew this was going to happen… A week later I was due for surgery. Right before, he came in to speak with me since apparently afterwards I was going to be completely knocked out. *so he thought*(Sidenote: I have a tremendously high tolerance for pain meds… apparently I was talking throughout the whole sugery… asking questions like«So, whats the grossest thing you’ve seen» or «What’s it look like in there»…yea you wish. Later the anesthesiologist told me he gave me enough meds for a 40yr man. Great.) Anyhoomeds…Greatest question ever asked by a Dr. in …3…2…1. «Do you have any pain meds at home.» «No» “Would you like some” «obviously» He followed it by saying I would hate him in the morning after the anesthesia wore off. Oh how right he was. Long story short, he was amazing! Rebuilt the finger, I even have a little screw in it now… no, I don’t beep at the airport. Every follow up appt I went too was great. Really such a great, nice, HONEST Dr. Always asking how it was feeling, telling me what I could do to help with swelling… healing, etc. On my last appointment, he told me I did a great job! Gave me some warnings about further healing and told me to be careful with my dog. «Thanks Doc… you’re the genius here» So if you need a good Hand Dr… Vo is your man!!! P. S. Was gonna post some pics of my finger two weeks after surgery… but opted not too… ha. It’s pretty gnarly.
