Texas summers are brutal, plainly stated. This fact, paired with the occasional need for sweetness, makes the shaved ice stand an iconic godsend for Dallas residents. And for my money, TC has this delicacy down to an art form. The price is right, the menu extensive and the syrup flows freely — what more can I say? EXCEPT… if you’re really hankering for the ultimate diabetic cool-down, go for the«Knockout» — an extra large cup of syrupy shaved ice, with a scoop of piña colada ice cream in the middle. Holy hell, I dream of this during the winter months, when TC has woefully shuttered its shack doors. I usually have mine made with a happy blend of wedding cake and tiger blood syrup… it cannot be beat. A tip: Most folks drive straight to the right window when preparing to make their order. Steer ’round to the left window, and you might not have to wait, at all. Hoopla!

Although Garland is my home away from home,(MIL lives in G Town), I’ve never been downtown Garland. Until that is my cousin got a new job around the corner from Rudys Tacos. Well, needless to say now, TC was dessert. I first looked up Unilocal reviews and decided on the Wedding Cake with ice cream. Pure HEAVEN! The medium was more than enough! I will definitely be back! Oh and it was like $ 2.50, i think, maybe less.

ok, I am a dallasite and therefore I remember the glory days of ice delight. I went in expecting little soft, fine ice pieces of heaven with amazing flavors. So, when it was only 104 on sunday and an afternoon spent watching a friends softball game, when decided to give tc’s a go. The ice is not quite a snow cone and not yet little pieces of heaven, somewhere in between. I had ½ piña colada, ½ amaretto– the amaretto was really good, pine colada did not seem to have much flavor. One friend got the wedding cake and she loved it. The 33yr old boy got the tiger’s blood and he was very happy with his choice(I think that was partially due to it’s name including tiger). Will I be back? More than likely yes, and now that I know where the bar is at I think it will be better. BTW, I got a medium and it was huge.
