I consider myself a «thrift store connoisseur» by now. This place had none of the things which make, what I consider, a good thrift shop. The clothes were not in great shape(faded, etc), and there were no current styles or brands that I look for. The houseware was blah. The staff ignored me while one talked in the phone loudly. The place was clean, and somewhat organized so it gets a couple of stars for that.

Score!!! I just went there yesterday because I’m a recently converted thrifter, and I was able to get 10 items for $ 10.81! They had a sale on all women’s clothing in which everything was $ 1. I was also able to get 6 shirts for my sister who is a plus size beauty. Other than the amazing sale, I probably wouldn’t go there often. Not much of a selection. Later loves! –Felix

I was looking for particular types of housewares and couldn’t find anything, selection seemed low compared to reviews I have read. Shop staff seemed intent on ignoring me so I guess I didn’t get the«best vibe» from the place. I might go back but I seriously doubt it…

The day we went they had 2 for 1 clothing items. We got some board games for $ 1 each. I got a pressure cooker for $ 4 dollars. This location is nice and clean, and well organized. The staff is nice, courteous, and willing to help. They take pride in what they sell, discarding any items that show signs of distress. If you are looking for nice, reasonably priced, clothing, and you do not mind used, this is the place to go.

I don’t know what it is that makes some thrift stores seem to consistently have great merchandise and others to well, not, but whatever the case New Beginnings has proven to generally keep in stock plenty of goodies, from quality to kitschy, and for a price that’s too good to pass up. During my last trip here I racked up 4 dresses, 5 tops, a jacket, a pair of boots, and a pair of wedges for about 30 dollars. On the same trip I also found a old canon slr camera with all of its equipment and extras for the same price. Earlier in the day I had plans to go to the mall, but it’s a good thing I didn’t since I walked away with a small wardrobe for the cost of one new dress. When you drive by it you could almost miss it– it’s pretty small. Inside it’s nice, organized, and not too dusty. The staff I’ve dealt with are nice. There’s one big dressing room, but the mirrors in it seem to come from a fun house and make you look skinnier than you actually are:(If only they would change those everything would be great.

This charity resale shop is in the old location of the ridgewood branch library and just recently opened. I’ve been on two trips to this shop and so far I’m quite impressed. Just when I was getting tired of the idea of jeans, I found the awesomest pair ever. Other finds have included a cute vintage umbrella and a t-shirt that says ‘reading is sexy’. Some of the items are a little overpriced, but since they usually have sales and/or specials running that’s not much of a problem. Definitely returning.
