Best bahn mi in DFW! This unassuming sandwich counter is hidden in the back of Saigon Mall food court. Their fresh bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and whatever magical spreads they put on it makes these banh mi amazing. I always get the banh mi combination 1($ 3.50, and also buy 5 get 1 free). I also love the fried rice cake snack, which is $ 7 but fills up a huge gallon sized ziplock bag. The sticky rice is also good($ 2.50). The ladies behind the counter don’t speak much English, but we make it work with a lot of gestures and English numbers. Like most hole-in-the-wall asian places, they take CASHONLY. I think they’re only open from noon-4pm, so this is a great lunch option. Overall, best banh mi in Dallas, and definitely driving across town for!

Place is great when they ever have it. It’s been 4 weeks and I’ve gone different hours and they NEVER have the 3 for $ 1 deal. And the service the REALLY Bad and slow. And they look at you with a distasteful stink eye.

I’m glad banh Mi #1 offers three vegetarian options. I tried all three and #23 is my favorite, but not the best I ever had. The cashier was a little rude when she rung up my order incorrectly and I asked her to correct it. Overall, the next time I’m in the area and need a quick bite I’d stop here to get a banh mi.

The meatball bahn mi is AMAZINGGG. I would say that was the best bahn mi I’ve ever had. The sauce they have in the sandwich is pretty spicy but delicious! Sad thing is that I didn’t see too much meat in it. I also got the baby clam bahn mi and I was not feeling it. There’s a clam stink that I don’t enjoy. But the meatball bahn mi is a MUST!

I like to think of myself as a banh mi aficionado. The banh mi here is actually pretty good. Bread is made fresh everyday and won’t cut the roof of your mouth. The bread itself has a good flavor to it and is good enough to eat alone. The banh mi dac biet(combination of cold meats) is my go-to order. They overload the sandwiches with green onions, cilantro, cucumbers and jalapeños though compared to other banh mi places. No big deal — you can always pick those out if you don’t want them. They don’t pack on a big glob of the buttery mayo stuff like Quoc Bao does which is a letdown for me since I love it but let’s face it, it’s better for my health. Not a fan of the chicken(ga nuong) though. The marinade is too sweet for my taste. My advice is to come here for the banh mi dac biet(combination) and go to Quoc Bao for banh mi ga nuong(grilled chicken). The ladies working behind the counter speak mostly Vietnamese though so to my non-Viet Unilocalers — I suggest to not have a complicated order. Warning: Cash only! If it gets busy it’ll take awhile to get your order. They’re pretty slow at making the sandwiches. Sigh.

I almost swallow a piece of steel wool in our desert at this Saturday October 23, 2015. My wife brought the«Che» desert to the clerk and told her about it. She just said thank you and go back to business as usual. Never go to eat at this place again

Holy crap! The sandwiches were the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Only downside it was just a tad bit too spicy for my white a$$. But, hell they are that good!!! Only downside is that they are cash only. 3 to 4 bucks a piece. Totally worth it.

If you’re looking for that perfect Vietnamese sandwich, THISISIT! Its located inside the foodcourt of Cali Saigon Mall. The food stand can be extremely busy during the lunch rush but its definitely worth the wait. The women that work here only speak Vietnamese so hopefully you’re able to speak some lol. I ALWAYS order the sandiwch combination(Dac Biet) because it gives the me a taste of everything. If you’re not into the pork meat, they have the chicken option which is also very good. I would give this place five stars but the service can be really slow and pretty confusing at times. The sandwiches are soooo affordable and amazing. Overall: I am willinging to drive across town to come but banh mi from this location. Also, they have a buy 5 get 1 free deal. I strongly recommend coming here for the best banh mi in the DFW metroplex.

Worst service. Slow and no consideration for their customers. They are completely disorganized when busy. Sandwich is good but the service makes it terrible. Hopefully the owners do something about it.

Great sand which but be prepare to wait 20 minutes at least if you’re here on a whim and didn’t call in your order. Crazy slow service but a very good sandwich.

Their banh mi is really good, but I gave them 3 stars due to service. They are like super slow their. Take forever for them to make their sandwiches. One time I went their and ask them can they just sell me their baguette cause my child like the bread and nothing else. Their reply was no you cannot purchase bread only you have to put stuff in it. Overall love their bread, but if you want to order bread better order ahead cause the wait is long.

One of my favorite banh mi shops is closed on Mondays, so I asked around for the next best place in the Richardson/Garland area. 2 unrelated individuals told me to go to Banh Mi #1. Maybe that’s what hyped it up for me, but I was greatly disappointed. Nothing stood out at all. I got the thit nuong. Their bread is a little buttery, but it was very soft. Not stale but just not toasted. The meat was okay. I really liked that the veggies were fresh though. Overall, not a place I can recommend. It’s definitely NOT a place I would recommend for a first-time banh mi experience.

The Vietnamese sandwiches(Banh mi) were fine. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t all that amazing either. The ordering is kind of confusing and not all that great. They have a buy 5 get 1 deal, but that’s a lot of sandwiches, so that deal is useless for me. If you are in the area or at Saigon Mall & you want some sandwiches, you should try this place out. I like it better than Lee’s Sandwiches any day too!

We had been told that the best banh mi in DFW was either Banh Mi #1 or a little bakery a few miles away from it(the little bakery is my hands-down favorite). I was disappointed with the bread and the overall sandwich as I was expecting something nearly on par with the other place. I have no idea what authentic banh mi is supposed to taste like — all I know is that I found this place to be rather average.

I have to give this place an average rating, even though the banh mi’s are really delicious & have that special crunch to their bread, the workers here take FOREVER just to make one sandwich. I know there’s a lot of people in line but, there’s like 5 people c’mon. They somehow get my order wrong at times as well. Also they only take cash! Other than the hectic lines, wait, the banh mi’s are really great. But, you can also go to Quoc Bao Bakery & buy 2 banh mi’s & get one FREE!(They are also much quicker & have more variety/flavor) Me personally, I wouldn’t go to Banh Mi #1 if you’re on a time crunch.

Banh Mi #1 has decent banh mi. I ordered the rolled ham one. First thing i noticed when i took a bite was that the baguette was pretty good. Crispy exterior with a fluffy interior. Banh Mi #1 is also very liberal with their seasoning for their rolled ham. I enjoyed the saltiness while others might be off-put by it. Honestly, the only reason i came here was because Quoc Bao was closed lol.
