Love this place! OMG the ribs and sides! Everything is awesome there. Great atmosphere and service.

This place was amazing. Like all other reviewers said, it’s family style. You order the type of chicken and get like 5 sides automatically. The biscuit, salad, corn, mashed potatoes were so good! Chicken was on point! Very oily, but what do you expect from fried chicken! If you share a meal they tack on $ 7. Two of us ate to our hearts content for $ 25. I will definitely be back!

This place would get 5 stars if they served good beer and I didn’t have to wait in line for so long. But at least they’re BYOB and the food is really quite good. Go for the chicken. Go hungry.

This place is soooo yummy! Chicken fried steak, cream-style corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, biscuits, salad, and some other alternating veggie. All so yummy! It’s a TON of food though and they don’t give out containers to take anything home because it is all you can eat family style. My only complaint is that there isn’t an option for smaller portions. You can split a meal but it’s almost the same price because they charge you for the veggies. Sometimes I order a meal to go and my two daughters and I all three share it and we are all stuffed. Like I said, it’s a ton of food!

I tried fried chicken and chicken fried steak with unlimited sides of mashed potato, biscuits, gravy, corns, green beans, cabbage. All are good. Fried chicken crispy outside and salty inside. Gravy tastes good. Mashed potato excellent. But it’s not weekends, so they don’t serve pineapple upside down cake. So I kinda regret not trying the cakes.

OMG! So much food! You choose your meat and the sides come family style. I had the fried chicken, which was delicious, and my bill was only $ 14. The mashed potatoes, gravy, and biscuits were incredible. They taste just like what you’d make at home. The greens were pretty tasteless, but the green beans and creamed corn were good. I tried the smoked chicken too and it was pretty darn delicious too. I’d definitely get the smoked chicken next time. Enjoy!

My whole family loves this place. Very unusual but delicious. There are no menus. Everything is served family style. Fried chicken, fried catfish, pot roast, Bbq chicken or chicken fried steak. Every entrée is delicious. Comes with okra, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, salad. Okra is real Gross. It is boiled and has no flavor at all. Salad is really bland. Just iceberg lettuce with Italian dressing but everything else is good. Service is always good. Great place to bring kids because it’s loud.

This location is great. I love the«home-y» feel this location has. This is your traditional southern comfort food and I recommend coming here if you want a little taste of the south! The service is speedy fast and the servers are friendly. Sides are unlimited and include mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuits, beans, and corn. Wish the beans were sweet BBQ flavor, but they’re not… *tears* I ordered the chicken tenders and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak. The chicken is not greasy, which is a plus for me! Both the tenders and fried steak were delicious and we took our leftovers home. Unfortunately, you can’t take any of the sides home… *tears* Brought my boyfriend here for the first time and he loved it. I definitely recommend this location! Will I come back? Of course!!!

The service is decent. The food just isn’t that great. I sent back my chicken fried steak because the meat is thin and not juicy at all. The gravy was HORRIBLE. The corn was greasy and watery-completely overdone. The green beans were completely soppy and overcooked. I then tried the ribs and they were at least 60% fat so were not getting true quality meat. The sauce was okay nothing special. I tried someone’s chicken strip and those were okay but no real flavor in the batter to give it real pop– really nothing special there either. Mashed potatoes were okay but nothing special. Only great thing was the biscuits. The biscuits were fantastic. I would buy the biscuits for an event or something but never anything else. Trust me you can get much better food many other places.

Babe’s gives you some of the BEST fried chicken! Their smoked chicken is equally delicious! I love everything here, it’s all the ultimate comfort food. You will receive limitless sides with your choice of meat, with no additional cost. Their salad is strange though. It’s just lettuce and dressing. It confuses me. I suggest just saving room for better things to come. When I returned to Texas from a month overseas, the first meal I had was Babe’s smoked chicken because everything about this place is just so Texas. The service has always been excellent. Babe’s is a great place for a birthday dinner or a special occasion because it’s so fun and unique. They also makes some of the best coconut cream pie I have ever tasted.

Talk about down home country comfort food. The fried chicken here is finger-lickin’ good. It comes with unlimited, family-style sides of beans, corn, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. Oh, and you get an iceberg lettuce salad to start so it’s healthy right? The meal here reminds me of a Sunday lunch prepared by my grandmother on the farm. It’s a entire experience eating here. The atmosphere is country, country, country. I had no idea restaurants like this still existed.

Took my friend here to eat for a birthday lunch and it was his first time. I’m no stranger to this place so I expected everything to taste the same as before. The unlimited sides with your meal are the bonus. Why did they change up the flavor of the green beans? It was one of my favorite sides! It came out looking burnt. I thought it was just a small mishap and picked out the ones that didn’t look appealing to eat. I requested another bowl stating that the burnt pieces made the rest taste bitter. 2nd bowl came and it was still the same. The waitress said that was their new way of cooking it. There was nothing wrong with how they were originally. Why change it? ***Garland location

I love Babes, it’s no secret. My previous review of the Carrollton location is proof. This location however, is nowhere near as good. I’m at a loss too, because I’ve always loved Babes… I rave about it being my favorite chicken place. I ate those words this nite as I left with an upset stomach; actually we all did, which told me it wasn’t just me. The chicken tasted ok, as did the tenders(but the tenders were dry. not juicy). The gravy was cold and lumpy(poorly mixed I’m guessing), the bisquits weren’t fluffy or even raised much. The potatoes were good, as always. But the black eyed peas were off, and didn’t sit well at all. Our server was scattershot and bumping into tables left and right, but she was nice enough. I’ll probably give it another try, but no time soon.

Good food and ENORMOUS portion sizes. Your typical Southern comfort food… almost everything fried… mashed potatoes, cream gravy, green beans… all served«family style», that is, instead of each person getting their own individual plate with their food, you order a meat, and everything is brought out in large bowls to fill your plate with. This particular visit I got chicken fried steak, it was very good. One tip I would have though… it’s not the best idea for a business lunch… productivity takes a dive when you’re in a food coma… lol

Not all Babe’s have ribs. Just saying – this is the place. Go here. There are so many things that go right here. You know the mashed potatoes you get at KFC? THIS is what they are trying to be. These are mashed potatoes! And the green beans are excellent. I also love the chicken strips. But then you get to the meaty ribs. This isn’t like smokehouse ribs. Do not compare them to the ones you get in BBQ joints. These are big thick fall off the bone Sunday in the country ribs. And when you are done and fat and happy – look around at the other patrons, fat and happy.

Top notch fried chicken. The sides are great too — and bottomless, the service is extremely fast and friendly, but it’s BYO, so don’t forget to stop on the way. If you do forget, there’s a 7 – 11 in walking distance to grab some beer. Also, the cherry pie is incredible. Lastly, if it’s your birthday(or just say its your birthday), they toss a chicken hat on you and sing while you dance.

Okay so I’m VERY health conscious and try to avoid fry foods but every once in a while I get a craving for fried chicken. When that craving hits me the ONLY place I want it from is Babe’s. OMG this is what chicken, in it’s infancy, aspires to someday be, perfectly seasoned, crispy crust, never oily or soggy, their chicken is perfection. Yes they have sides, yes they are wonderful and never ending but the start of the show is their fried chicken. Go with a large group and bring your own to go containers because they do not have doggy bags.

Great for families and parties. Being from out of town was super excited by the idea of a BYOB. The table next to us had a cooler of beers and a bottle of wine. The fried chicken was delicious and the smoked chicken was juicy and flavorful. The biscuits were light and fluffy and piping hot. The mashed potatoes and gravy alone could have been a meal. The food is heavy on calories and butter but throw caution to the wind and enjoy the calories. A great place for kids. The servers were extremely friendly and constantly engaged the kids. There is also singing that alternates among a few people throughout the evening and it was really fun. We were laughing and enjoying the atmosphere all night. We arrived 10 mins after they opened and just squeezed in under the wait list. Popular spot. Arrive early or plan for a wait.
