This place was awesome. Owner onsite with his wife. Cute ol’couple! Very friendly and funny. I felt like i was on an episode of «AMERICANPICKERS» Went with my daughter looking for old jars. Did not find what we were looking for but we will come back for sure. Lots of wrought-iron, chandeliers, old signs, Knick knacks, and items with character. Make sure u don’t miss the outside. There are a couple other shops around the corner… So we made it a great adventure looking at all the antique shops in the area.

This truly is a hidden treasure in the middle of what I think is downtown Garland. The store is ran by a really nice elderly lady and her son. The store building is actually the ladys house she grew up in as a child and later converted to her place of business. They seem to have a wide array of things with no real theme. It is a real life treasure hunt. The son is an actual picker if you are familiar with the term. He travels around old places and flea markets picking or finding lost treasures or items that need some tlc to shine again. If you are ever in the area, stop on in and see them. They are super friendly and helpful. You wont regret it a minute.

I have been here a couple of times. I love the art of the hunt! If you don’t like places that seem cramped, don’t come here. Get ready to dirty your hands and dive in! I love this place. Found one of my very favorite oak chairs here. Just a plain, wooden straight chair for my kitchen table. It sat just against the fence under the overhang. Looked so lonely! ha ha The owners are very nice and know where it all is.

I found Alston’s while I was checking out the classifieds in Craigslist for a nice vanity table for my bedroom. They advertised a couple of cute ones so I decided to head on down to the store to see what other things they would have. You can find furniture, light fixtures, yard art, pet beds, trinkets, marbles, fireplace mantels, you name it here. It’s in downtown Garland and stands alone on a fairly empty street. It’s actually an old white house turned antique store. When you go in all the rooms have been turned into show rooms filled from floor to ceiling with knick knacks and furniture. The kitchen sink is still in there and adds to the charm. The owner and her son are very nice and there was no pressure whatsoever. They are willing to negotiate with you so don’t be shy. Keep an eye on the kiddos though because it is filled to the brim and if you are not careful, accidents can happen. There are lots of things that the kiddos would like to touch.
