One of the best little spots in the area. Always friendly, always fresh, very quaint. There are only two people working so you have to be patient if they are busy. Its def one of my fave places in the garfield/Lodi area!

Really tasty sushi! Owners are some of the friendliest people around. There hasn’t been one time where I didn’t come and get something as an extra… Orange slices, Miso soup, bonus rolls, a tiny desert treat. Really awesome owners!

The forgotten sescrer of Garfield … Best sushi around … Trust me I have been all over the country trying to find that best sushi restaurant. Sushi boy is not big, no it’s family own. But the service, clean restaurant, nice portion size and outstanding sushi make up for it.

If had takeout from here with my cousin and was pleased. I read some reviews and was shocked to the negativity. I am here on a Sunday(not many places in the area open for lunch) and the rolls I had are amazing. Pricing isn’t to bad. First time in a while I had eel that’s wasn’t like tree bark. And a roll as simple as a spicy tuna roll had great flavor. I suggest the Grand Canyon roll, it has tons of tuna. Avocado salad had an entire half of an avocado on it. Crazy horse was tasty and nice an spicy. After giving my opinions to the chef he decided to make a few tuna and salmon sushi pieces to us. Thanks! I recommend this hidden gem in Garfield.

I feel bad leaving such a bad review because there are people who own this place, and they are wonderfully pleasant. their food however is gross. too much rice and it’s mushed and yuck. the fish isn’t fresh or cut correctly. it’s just gross I wouldn’t spend one dollar here. waste of money and you will be disappointed without a Doubt

service is horrible. ordered a sushi salad which was 11 bucks for lunch special and it was horrible! the owner is korean and i was trying to be respectful to him saying thank you but he was just whatever about it. I can go to another korean sushi place and get better service and better food for cheaper. Not coming back

Sushi here is very fresh. The owner’s English isn’t very good, but he is very friendly and accommodating. I’ll admit to being somewhat of a sushi snob. While the menu isn’t overly extensive, everything I’ve had was well done and fresh, and at very reasonable prices. This is not fine dining, just really, really good sushi at a very reasonable price. But Roger is right. Don’t go here if you’re offended because the owner doesn’t even speak Japanese(smh).

Updated again. Quality of the sushi is back up to its previous standard. Back to loving this little place.

Some reviewers think the one star is harsh. Trust me it’s a compliment. BC they should be negative. The fish is frozen and then thawed and is far from fresh. The owner is a mean spirited man who is not of Japanese descent. He does not speak or write Japanese, nor does he know how to cut sashimi properly. I would avoid this place like the plague. But don’t take my word for it. Just go in and check it out for yourself. Also if you do decide to eat here have cash handy BC even though they take credit cards they ave a $ 20 minimum.

I wish there was a no star option. Aside from the confused waitress, the sushi wasn’t fresh and they dumped spicy mayo all over my sushi. I love sushi and rather not eat than go to this shit hole.

Geez, everyone is so harsh. It’s cheap and affordable, and it’s not BAD quality. I’ve never had bad quality sushi there. It’s a small family owned place where they don’t really speak much english. The service is terrible, but what do you expect? It’s not like you’re walking into a fancy 5 star sushi restaurant? They just want to make sushi and serve it to you. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It’s probably best for take out, since I don’t think they ever expect anyone to actually sit down in there, but if you do, just prepare yourself for affordable sushi, and grab a drink from the refrigerator when you sit down so you don’t have to worry about refills of Garfield tap water.(shouldn’t be drinking that anyway!) But seriously, it’s not bad. It hits the spot if you’re looking for decent food that’s quick. Yeah, Matsuya is totally better, but c’mon, are they really even comparable?

Totally decent, safe, sushi take-out with legit prices. You can get a ‘Love Boat for Two’ for under $ 40, which includes soup & salad for both. Friendly staff awaits with quick take-out service. There are small dining quarters from what I saw, so I’m not sure you’ll have much elbow room if you opt to dine in.

Wow this place truly is subpar… I had to beg the waitress for water and wait for a refill(although I was the only one here). I had the chicken teriyaki meal and had a SUPER salty miso soup, okay salad and dry and tough chicken… Honestly the worst Japanese food ever. No recommendation whatsoever!

No alcohol license = no japanese beer to wash down that sushi Don’t bother looking at the«pictures» of the sushi in the menu. That is NOT what you are getting. Slimy fish. Look at the fish… it’s not sitting under a special lamp that is typical in sushi restaurants that kills bacteria on sushi grade fish Small portions of seaweed salad Forget waiting for utensils, water, napkins. You’ll never get them. You need to ask for them. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Horrible. The place seats about 20 people. It is well decorated but the quality of the service and the food is awful. We ordered 4 rolls: philly, super california, spicy octupus, and eel. The rice was so sticky that I couldn’t eat it and i still feel sick to me stomach thinking about it. Only one person working in the whole place on a tuesday night so the service was slow. He didn’t even offer us water.

I never had fishy tasting sushi here. It’s always fresh and good. I once saw the Sushi chef(who is also the owner), cutting salmon directly from a whole fresh salmon. It’s a small, cozy little restaurant with a nice atmosphere owned and operated by a husband and wife team. I have never been disappointed, until recently. You may not receive a warm welcome or smile from the wife anymore who will be your server. I think there may be some tension in Paradise over there. She does need to step it up a bit… LOL. I still would check it out though. Don’t tell anybody, but, there are better Sushi places out there!

I think what you need to accept w/Sushi Boy is that it is some damn cheap japanese food, and so if that is the basis on which you are searching for some japanese food action, then go for it. my brother lives by them. but be forewarned, if you have a discerning palate, stay away. I once ordered some sushi from them w/my bro, and I could barely finish it. Such fishy fishy sushi. I’ll accept I’m probably somewhat of a sushi snob, but this food is best accompanied by wasabi, ginger, and a clothes pin for your nose.
