This place is a childhood favorite! Ever since my friend introduced me to Umemuras, I have been a loyal customer. Even though I now live in San Diego, I always come here when I visit the LA area. My favorites are the Mabo Ramen and the Umani Yakisoba! Huge portions and if you’re super hungry, you can always order extra noodles.

I would’ve gave them 4 stars since the food is good but the waitress didn’t put in one of my orders so ended up costing me 15mins which is a lot during a short lunch break. Also, they only accept cash. The food isn’t worth cash only and I go to plenty of cash only joints.

Been here several times. Both the Umani Ramen, and the Wonton Ramen were good. Gyoza is nice, lightly crispy. Beware, although they make Ramen with not so Japanese items, they do NOT do Tokotsu. You will not find any Tokotsu flavord broth in thus joint. Miso, Shoyu only. I kind of like the fact they wont give in to the Americanized version of this delicious comfort food. Ramen should come out piping hot from the kitchen, I guess is my only complaint.

I came here with my cousin and ordered the Wonton Ramen– it’s delicious. It was kind of cold that day and the ramen hit the spot. The broth is great and the noodles are awesome. Totally recommend this place! I liked it so much I’m back and brought my mom. She loves it

Bring CASH! They only take cash and told us the minute the bill arrived. That part sucked. I got the #10 Ramen with the soy based broth and beef with peppers. I like that one. It’s really good. I also liked their kimchi. Not the best but good. Bamboo shoots I could have gone without and that spinach needed lots of labor thanks to the chili paste.

Good on a cold day 1÷9÷2016. Today I got the #11 Yakiniku ramen soy bean paste. Not so spicy but it’s good. This will be my ramen when I go there. The Hoi-koh-ro ramen was good but it tasted like Nilaga(Filipino soup dish). The Mabu tofu was also good. It came with noodles not rice and it was good. The gyoza was good cooked right. OH man what I really LOVE is the rice. CHAMAN is the bomb. I can never make good fried rice like this. The workers are awesome, friendly and cool. The location is on a main street so you can’t really miss it. It’s small inside but you can fit groups maybe like 3 big groups and that’s it. We never wait thankfully. But I think I jinxed it. But it’s ok we can hang outside they have a big front yard like and their own parking lot also. No Street parking cause it’s on a main road. CASHONLY!!! Look for the hours they are open!!!

Yet another destination ramen place in the South Bay. For us South Bay folks, we are blessed with an abundance of ramen establishments. It’s a buyer’s market. I have passed by this location on several occasions, but finally made the trip inside. Our group ordered the shoyu-chashu ramen, mabo ramen, half-order fried rice and gyoza. All of the above were good. The shoyu ramen was light(not bland) and the flavorful. The noodles were clearly handmade and cooked slightly softer than al dente. The addition of spinach and tender chashu completed the ramen experience. I tried a little bit of the mabo ramen and it was not spicy at all. Well, it had hints of spice, but not to the point where you need to drink water after every slurp. The tofu in the mabo was soft. Again, noodles cooked perfectly. The fried rice and gyoza were good, but nothing to boast about. Still, I get those again when I return. I found the fried rice to have too much corn. The gyoza had a nice crispy texture. Can’t wait to return. Extra noodles are only a buck as of Jan. 2016. Cash only, and plenty of parking at the rear of the restaurant.

So I stumbled across this place years ago but forgotten that it even existed. When I tried this place the first time it was delicious. I don’t remember what I ordered but it was definitely tasty. So I decided to go on Unilocal to find a close ramen spot since it was raining and this place showed up. I felt nastalgic and remember this place and how amazing it was. I ordered the Mabo Ramen which had tofu, ground pork, mabo sauce and ramen. It was very tasty when I first took a bite but as I continue eating, I realized that it was very salty. It was so salty that I kept drinking water and the saltiness was left on my palate. It was so unpleasant. I really liked the service because the server lady kept coming to ask if we needed anything. The menu was very detail and they had alot more selection of ramen then most ramen place I’ve ever been to so that a plus. I was thinking of taking a friend here but now I have to take the saltiness in consideration.

They still make it like it was when they were loacated next to Spot Market on Western, which tells you that the food is still good. Wish they made Miso soup instead of serving the ramen broth with the rice dishes.

I stopped here with my baby daddy on a Thursday afternoon at 2:15. It closes from 2:30 p.m. as with many Japanese restaurants. The cha shu ramen for $ 9.95 was HUGE! So was the yakisoba. It had a lot of soup. The texture of the noodles were a bit soft. I generally like my ramen noodles chewy. Overall, it’s a good traditional ramen spot.

Nothing cures a cold(for me anyways) than a big hot bowl of soup. In this case, Ramen! There are so many good ramen places in Gardena, but when I saw my friend Chel R’s review of Umemura, I knew that was where I was going. It’s a small place, an old Taco Bell location. The plus for this location is it’s a stand alone restaurant, not cramped in a plaza like the restaurants in the Tozai Plaza across the street. The bonus, Parking is abundant, Yes! Even before I came here, I knew what I wanted to order. Chashu Ramen is my favorite ramen and if it’s on the menu, I know I’m getting it. lol. As i arrived, I was seated immediately. There were about 8 other diners in the place and everyone was quietly enjoying their bowl of ramen. I placed my order and within 5 minutes, my ramen arrived. The first thing that got my attention was the smell of Menma(cooked bamboo shoots). I love bamboo shoots and the aroma told me I was going to have a good lunch. The broth was excellent. Piping hot, very flavorful and porkaliciously good! The noodles were perfectly cooked. Al dente, just the way I like it. The chashu were on point. It was lean(very few fat pieces). I usually prefer a more fatty chashu, but these were very good. They were sliced thicker than what most ramen places serve and the amount of pieces were just right. The only negatives I could see was, the broth had some oil spots and the egg was over cooked. A perfect egg would have gotten them that elusive 5th star. In any case it’s a solid 4 star(maybe even 4 ½). It’s that good. The bowl of ramen certainly did the trick, I was feeling much better as I left the restaurant. A good solid ramen, recommended by one of my trusted friend(Thanks Chel), is a good recipe for a satisfying lunch =) 2015 Review #153

One of the best ramen places in the area. Broth is pork, chicken and seafood and much lighter(less oily) than you typical ramen broth. Really fresh veggies and great noodles. Super great friendly service — great Chahan! Coming back for the homemade gyozas next. Cozy and cool interiors plenty of seating in the old Taco Bell building. Good stuff!

«Hand-made noodles?» Count me in! Came for a late lunch with my sister and friend; we were able to get a spot near the entrance, which was surprising, since the place was fairly packed during lunchtime. Ordered the Miso Ramen, and it came out promptly within a few minutes. Now, hand-made noodles taste subtly different from just regular, packaged ones: texture was definitely softer and chewier, and they paired well with the light miso broth. Also loved the fact that the portion was huge, and had lots of noodles. Lots and lots of it. And for $ 8.80, it was not bad. Not bad at all. Definitely recommend, if you want to satisfy your ramen cravings. :)

Umemura is the place to go when I’m really hungry! The portions are always generous, and the food always comes out quickly and piping hot. For ramen, I highly recommend the Umani Ramen. The Kanitama rice or kanitama cha-han is also very delicious, and very large. The pi-man rice was loads of rice topped with a stir-fry of bell peppers and beef. It came really hot and was tasty and hearty as well. The gyoza was pretty average. One of them fell apart when I picked it up. That was a very saddening moment when the filling plopped onto my pi-man rice. The service is very good. Our waitress was very genuine and enthusiastic, as well as sufficiently attentive. [This restaurant is cash only.]

I ordered the Mabo Ramen which I heard was really good at this place. I’ve been here before when I was a kid but this is my first time here in a while. The Mabo Ramen was good for a homemade ramen. Mabo tofu gravy in soy sauce flavored broth with ramen noodles. The soup was both thick from the group and watery from the soy sauce broth. The noodles were a bit too soft for how I like it. It does have a kick to it though. I was sweating while I was eating it but the soup was also temperature hot. I can see why my friends really liked the Mabo Ramen but I didn’t think it was that amazing. This wouldn’t be my go to ramen place. This is a small family owned business so you can’t get this anywhere else. The gyoza and chahan had nothing special to it either. It seems like a lot of the items are similar to Chinese food. The yakisoba was very similar to chow mein. It is very tasty and flavorful but again I don’t think it’s that great.

This small Japanese ramen restaurant is located on Redondo Beach Blvd. between CVS and the Nissan Gardena car sales lot. It’s easy to miss, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for a building with three arch-shaped windows. Parking: There is a lot located in the back of the restaurant. Service: Servers were polite and attentive. They refilled our waters frequently and checked on us to see how we were doing. Food: — Wonton Ramen — with beef wontons, green onions, and bamboo shoots. You can also add topping for an additional charge. This large portion comes out nice and hot. There are a decent amount of wontons, and the soup is flavorful. — Kanitama Rice — Imitation crab and bamboo shoot omelet over fried rice. Topped with a sweet and sour glaze. There was a LOT of glaze. It was pretty strong and overpowered the flavors of the omelet and rice. I think it would have tasted a lot better if less was poured over it, or it might be a good idea to have the glaze on the side. Next time, I’ll stick to the ramen. Note: Cash only! They do not take credit cards.
