This business has been closed for a couple of months and there is a big FORLEASE sign across the storefront. Not sure why Unilocal won’t change the status so people don’t get confused.

They closed … I am leaving the 5 stars up in the hope they re-open at a different location. :-(

It’s not bad… But It’s not the greatest. I would probably give it a 3.25, but not a 3.5(if that makes and sense). I got the baby back ribs combo with the pulled pork mac and cheese. The meat was tender, and the mac and cheese was definitely more unique. But somehow, the food was missing something…

The food here is unbelievably amazing, can you say finger licking bbq, the chicken is so soft it falls of the bones oh my gosh can’t get enough of this food. The potato salad, sweet corn and mac&cheese is bomb!!! The bbq ribs literally falls off the bone oh my goodness

I ordered rib tips. They were delicious, succulent and had the pulled pork mac and cheese as a side. It was amazing with a little kick to it. I’m a happy camper. We met Fred and sampled the pork ribs as well. They were tender, juicy and delicious! We’ll be coming here more often. The tri tip and brisket that my colleagues ordered was a little well done for my tastes but very tasty. They liked it alot and we’ll be back. No more driving all the way to Bludso’s for us.

This place is not a BBQ place. The meat has no smoked flavor at all. Although I will say it was tender, but no flavor. The sauce is given to you in a plastic cup?! You are given only 2 choices sweet and sassy or hot(which isn’t hot). You have to dip or spread your own sauce on the meat. And the sauce was cold. The portions are small for the amount paid. Once your order is made you can’t change your order(I tried to change my sided order and was told once the fries were dropped you are stuck. I should have cancelled the order). The personnel was not as friendly as I had expected from reading other comments. In the end when I get BBQ I expect tender smoked meat with a taste(no offense but black BBQ is nothing like this so called BBQ). I would not recommend place if you are expecting real BBQ.

Really, this should be 3.5 stars. The meats were good. Seasoning was just right and texture was good. The sides were just ok. My teenagers are Mac and cheese fanatics, and they were disappointed. So overall, decent BBQ, but not a «must do» for us.

I really, really wanted to like this place and was so excited to have a BBQ place in my neighborhood but was left disappointed. I should have turned around as soon as I walked into the restaurant and could not smell the BBQ. I have NEVER been to a BBQ joint where you could not smell the sweet smell of smoked meat. I tried the brisket, ribs, chicken and the links, as well as, the fries, yams, baked beans and mac and cheese. My favorite part were the fries… The fries?!? I like my sides homemade and these tasted like they were straight from a can. The macaroni in the mac and cheese was overcooked and the cheese tasted like some type of spicy Velveeta cheese. Ugh! I gave an extra star for the customer service. The woman who took my order was extremely nice. I wish this establishment all the best but in the meantime I will just have to keep taking the drive to Bludso’s.

Been wanting to give this place a try and finally went today. Not bad at all and I am not the biggest BBQ fan but the pulled pork was really good. No sauce required. Although I did add some of their sweet sauce which was pretty dayum good. Seemed that they are a lil stingy on the portions used in the sandwich. Not a whole lot compared to a photo online. The sandwich looks like it is stacked up high and there was just a pinch of it. I got 2 sides, mac-n-cheese and the potato salad. Mac was a bit dry but had a good taste. Needs to be a lil more gooey. Potato Salad is pretty good. I just added some pepper to make it more to my liking. Going to refer the fellas in the warehouse to this place. I work just 2 minutes down the street. Will def go back when in the mood for some BBQ. Staff seems nice. Cashier was really friendly over the phone when I placed my order and also when I came in to pick it up.

I tried the chicken, brisket and hot links. The meat is very tender — melt in your mouth — and flavourful. The mac ‘n cheese was a little on the thick side, but it was smooth and creamy. The chili beans could have been cooked a tad longer and were a bit more watery than I’d prefer, but the seasoning was absolutely perfect. The only dish that didn’t move me at all was the potato salad. It was rather bland. The location is convenient with ample parking and the restaurant was super clean and spacious. The cashier — perhaps the daughter? — was friendly and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. All in all, I’ll definitely try the Boyz again.

Had a combination consisting of 4 St Louis ribs, chicken leg, hot link, and Mac n Cheese. Also tried the pulled pork sandwich. They have a great barbecue rub on their food and two sauces(spicy and saucy, and spicy). This family owned restaurant serves up some wonderful barbecue and you can tell they use TLC in their cooking.

I was down the road for one of my kids Basketball tournaments and decided to Unilocal BBQ to see if there was any local spots I hadn’t tried before. Bingo found Martinez Boyz not too far down the road so game on. This BBQ joint is pretty easy to find in this pretty run down strip mall. Aren’t the best Q joints located in hole in the walls like this? Look for the banners. I entered the neon green Q-spot and was warmly greeted by the gal at the register. I really had to pee and when asked if they had a bathroom she told me it was for employees only but the laundry mat next door had one. Cost a quarter for the dirty bathroom… you’ve been warned. Came back after my call of nature and after a couple minutes of scanning the order board I made up my mind. It was a late lunch for me so I got the dinner portion. I ordered the St. Louis ½ rack dinner and a couple of hot links for a kicker. It only took a few before I had my food. Ribs(way) pre cooked and the links warmed on a flat top. FOOD: Ribs… St. Louis cut Hot Links Sides … BBQ Beans & potato Salad TASTE: Ribs …(7 bones) but a couple were tiny. Nice smoke ring and color but most of the ribs were dry, chewy and way too salty for me. I tried the 2 sauces sweet n hot and found the hot to be more to my liking. Still the sauce didn’t cover the salty taste. 2 ** Star Hot Links … Despite the poor showing on the ribs these Hot links were pretty tasty. These were some of the better ones I’ve had in a while. Recommended. 4. ****Stars Sides … Potato Salad &BBQ Beans The tater salad was bland and flavorless. Needed some taste. Dill, mustard, pickles… the BBQ beans were also ok. A bit sweet for me so I added the hot sauce to perk ‘em up a bit. 2.5** Stars BBQ sauce Hot or Sweet, both were ok but I preferred the mild«hot» sauce. Overall this is not something I’d return for. Service was friendly and the place seemed pretty clean. Free refills on drinks. So get a small if dining in. Plenty of parking. Smaller place mostly to-go. With a few seats. 2 flat screens to keep you entertained.

The BBQ Quest continues… This is a new BBQ joint. Once I saw it on Unilocal,I had to go try it. The place is very nice. I love the neon green tables and chairs they have. They have the main counter in front of you as you enter. Two flat screen TV’s on both sides of the restaurant. Pro Tip: Ask for the special if they have any. I was looking at their mail menu board and made my order, then saw the special. Looking at the special, it would have been better than what I ordered. I’ve been here a couple of times to sample their dishes. Here’s the rundown: Rib(lunch) I got 4 ribs and a side order. It was okay. Nothing special. It had a nice smoke ring on it, but it was dry /chewy on a couple of those ribs. Rib Tips(lunch) — They served this with the sauce on the side. I like that. The size of the rib tips were on the small side. The quantity was okay, but I do get more at my usual spot. The meat itself was like the ribs inconsistent. Some were good and tender, while others were dry and super chewy. They don’t give you bread with the lunch I tried a couple of their BBQ sauce. I prefer the Sweet to the Spicy. BBQ Baked Beans — were very good and they give you a nice portion of it too. On the sweet side though, just FYI. Pulled Pork Mac N Cheese — was good. I like the cheese they used, almost like a pimiento cheese. There were some pulled pork pieces and those were good as well. Service was very good and friendly. They should push the specials to the customers since the sign for the special is off to the right of the counter away from where you need to order. Martinez BBQ is okay, but I’ve had better. The BBQ quest continues… 2015 Review #56

Boo wanted Woodys BBQ but we were too far so I Unilocaled and found this spot down the street. Dont let the outside fool you. Once inside, you will be greeted by the nice folks that work here and the inside is clean. BIGMISTAS can learn a few things. They have flat screen tvs and a decent amount of customers in their relax dinning area. Ordered just a few bites to try out. Hope the food is as good as the service. Tried the chicken… it was the bomb. Juicy, tender and seasoned. My family likes chicken cooked where its ready to fall off the bone. Lots of BBQ places barely cook theirs so it is chewy and tough. Yuck. The hot link was ok. The taste was good but something about the texture was off to me. A bit too mushy for my taste.

I don’t give 5 reviews easy. I’m overly picky of BBQ. This place rocks! Ok the place is your standard strip mall, you don’t go here for dinner. But the quality is impressive. The pulled pork is the best seasoned I’ve ever eaten. Not bland or one dimensional. The beef ribs are huge and very tender. The St. Louis pork ribs have a great rub on them. The mac n cheese was a bit salty I found but they have a kick which is great. The beans were very tasty even without drippings which is a shame I feel but pit master frank told Me many vegetarians do come here and so at least they can eat the beans. Weird if you ask me as a vegetarian a BBQ is my anti Christ no? They are all lovely and nice and you can tell they do competitions as they serve their meat naked(no sauce) the way it’s supposed to be. I will be back, along Bludsos or baby blues this is my new BBQ joint for takeout. Keep it going Boys!

the sauce and ribs were alright. The mac & cheese was not good. Also presentation/look of the finished product was boring. Nothing spectacular . My roommates & coworker tried this place all 4 of us won’t be returning. They don’t Unilocal so I thought I’d update my review and add that also. & it’s very unprofessional to have your 5 year old son running around in his socks while you have customers in the restaurant.

My bbq experience has always been woodys in Inglewood or whatever bbq-like dishes they serve at restaurants.. I stumbled upon the Martinez Boyz Bbq as I was in the neighborhood and decided to Unilocal somewhere to have lunch with my husband and we just so happened to be right in front of the location! We were greeted by Josie right away, whom I believe is the daughter of one of the«Martinez boys» and she was very friendly and helpul when we couldn’t decide what to get. We decided on a 3-rib and a side special for me and a pulled pork sandwhich and a side for my husband. His pulled pork sandwhich was super delicious! The bun was perfect and the pulled pork so tender! My ribs literally fell of the bone with a small stug. They were both served without sauce so you could truly taste the flavor of the meat. They did have two house-made sauces: Sweet & Sassy and Spicy. During our visit there was two other customers who ate there. One seemed to know a lot about the history of the family and talked to my husband about it which was pretty cool, and the other one was an older woman who we overheard was also a first timer. She ordered her food to go and ended up coming right back to tell them how good their meat was! Towards the end Josie’s father came out himself and asked how we liked our food(you can tell this family is passionate about their food, I want to say his name was Fred), and asked us if we had some time. He came out with samples of his grilled shrimp over spicy rice, a dish served on fridays! ALSO each purchased meal came with a raffle for a tv that’s being given away at their grand opening March 28th! Great up and coming restaurant, will definitely be back!
