Bad Customer service. A window installer recommended by Crenshaw took measurements at my house and placed an order with Fred… and then nothing. He doesn’t respond to email or voicemail. The customer service is worse than the DMV. Go to Westside Door and Windows, Granahl or Stock Building Supply instead.

Very, very, very bad customer service. Avoid Fred at all costs. He is rude and dishonest. I will not be bringing them my business and will make sure to spread the word beyond Unilocal. My quote was changed after it sat on this guy’s desk for more than a week. It doubled and wasnt given any explanation or apology for the weeks they delayed my project. CUSTOMERSBEWARE. GOSOMEWHEREELSE. DONTWASTEYOURTIME.

This review is for their windows and doors department. As I browsed their showroom I overheard one of the salesman/employees complaining about a customer. He eventually went on to say«I’m just going to charge her an arm and a leg so that she will go elsewhere.» Why would you say anything like that with a potential customer within earshot? Left a really bad taste Also, In the 10 minutes I was there I was never asked if I needed help. Needless to say, I will not be getting windows and doors here.

The mother of all lumber yards in SoCal. This place has everything and a lot of it. Great service too.

I finally gathered up the will power to replace the aging 8′ sliding door on my home and stopped here to look around, and was quickly assisted by Fred. Cinch man! in a half hour I ordered a brand new Milgard Tuscany XO slider and get this, a contractor to install it and do the demo. His name is Mike Baker and his asst. Antonio. The door and job began as scheduled and was completed in four short hours with an immaculate clean-up. I’ll have them back for sure and will frequent Crenshaw for all my upcoming window needs.

Probably the place to go for the serious builder who is above picking through the wet, split, warped garbage usually found in the uh… monstrous warehouse building stores. I assume real builders can still make something square when the 2×4 arches 4″ off the floor in the center. I can’t. One piece(at warehouse) was shaped like a dog leg, I stared at if for a long time trying to think of a project that could really use a 2×4 bent in two directions. I’m more like a crafter. I have trouble cutting big pieces on the table saw and the gigantic circular saw the(ex) boyfriend gave me three Christmas’s ago scares the heck out of me. Did he think I could even lift it? So, I needed a better lumber supply than the warehouse stores(or a boy friend who does not expect me to go to his sporting events, dress cute, cook for him and build my own stuff). This place looked promising, stacks of lumber you can see from the end of the street(different buildings with different materials, all clearly marked), good parking(not full of nails and wire), guy driving a gigantic fork lift parks, walks to the office(clearly marked) and stops to hold the door for me(manners, oOo la la), «thank you» I say, «I like your ride» he laughs though it is probably the lamest thing anyone has said to him all day. Good looking guy at the counter, looks at my sketch and we dive immediately into confusion, «can you cut the wood for me?» I want two pieces this by that and one this by that, then four 2 x 4s this length… We can’t get there from here. He seems concerned that when I say 1″ or 2″ it isn’t’ really 1″ and 2″, and that 8″ isn’t really 8″(knew that), tell him, fine, not critical. He still dithers. Eventually he starts to write it up, neglecting the one piece this by that… when I ask him to add that piece he melts… he doesn’t know, maybe they are not the right place for my needs… Dude… if it is too small an order for the time involved, just let me know what you want for cutting it, right? It might be worth it to me to not risk the circular saw… he doesn’t really want to send me away to another store(he says, already thinking of where to send me)… I’ll never know what the problem was, but like the tail end of a relationship, it is just as well to have it over… he looks up the phone number for Learned Lumber. I’ll try them this week.
