I patiently wait for chef to put people on alert that a batch of delicious food is scheduled for distribution. That’s when I know to get my money ready because it’s time to spend my hard earned cash on some quality food. The gumbo and jambalaya taste exactly what you would expect genuine Cajun food to taste like, with generous portions of seafood and meat. Chef is even thoughtful enough to prep non seafood versions of these dishes for those who may have allergy concerns. You don’t even have to worry about not being able to eat it right away because it holds up really well reheated on the stove. Taco pies are his newest creations and have become a favorite in my house. Alternating layers of taco shells, meat, and cheese provide that no frills comfort food that is required on days when you just need to eat something solid or you’re just plain hung over. Follow Chef C on instagram or facebook to stay up to date on when the next batches of food are being prepped and make sure to get your order in.

I was in Long Beach visiting family for a few days over Memorial Day weekend. My sister in law knows Chef C and ordered his New Orleans gumbo(THANKYOU Asha) for our family dinner on Saturday. Chef C came in the door carrying a giant pot of gumbo, accompanied by plenty of perfectly cooked rice. It smelled like heaven. We all loved it(and some of our family grew up in New Orleans)!! The broth was thick and spicy and full of delicious crab, shrimp, sausage and chicken. You could taste the love in every bite. I can’t wait to go visit again soon so I can try the jambalaya. I think we have found a new tradition for our get togethers, Chef C will do the cooking!

My husband tells me, «I’m going to bring home some homemade gumbo and jambalaya tonight» and I was like, «whatttt? Homemade?! Yesss…» because in my mind, homemade is always«healthier» ;) So I get the whole story and find out that it’s from his coworker who’s been doing catering on the side. So I’m waiting and waiting and finally my husband comes home with the food. I AMHUNGRY. We open up two containers: one jambalaya and one gumbo and the most delicious smell fills the air. Not even kidding. So we dig in and I was like, «DAMN… this is REAL cajun food huh?!» Both dishes were so freaking flavorful and just downright delicious. The gumbo was packed(and I mean PACKED) with different proteins including CRAB and SHRIMP and SAUSAGE and chicken… The soup wasn’t super thick and slimy like some gumbos I’ve tried. It had thinner consistency which I really liked. And it just had SOMUCHFLAVOR. The jambalaya was really good too. I told my husband that I’m totally going to crave it so the next time Chef C makes a batch to buy more. A month later and the second time was just as delicious as the first! Definitely recommend you try his food– You won’t be sorry!
