My stylist she knew exactly how i like to wear my hair, and i felt amazing when i left.

If you want a hairdresser that listens, my impression is that this is the place to go. I had a niece’s’s wedding to attend to, and I had some overly bleached chunks for «natural looking highlights» that were not my idea. I am an older person with thin, fine hair, not easy to get a right look.
With little hope of getting an appointment for such a well-​reviewed salon I called and left a message. Not only did I get a same-​day call back, but I got a Friday appointment, just in time to get a correction before my event.
The owner Nicole Mesquit is a person who listens and who cares. She gave me highlights and lowlights, a bang trim, blend of the upper layers for better volume, and only charged for the color, even though she was extra generous with her services.
There are just two girls running this salon and they only do cut and color, so as to do those two things well. There are other fun touches such as offering water or coffee and the darling artsy environment, everything that adds up to «we care.
The salon is on Garden Grove Blvd., right across the street from Costco. The shared parking to the Main Street businesses is accessible and free. This is a local Garden Grove business that I will patronize, support and recommend.

This is a really cute salon that I drive by a lot whenever going to Costco (across the street). I gave it a try when I was looking for a place to dye my hair and was so happy with my choice. Amber was phenomenal! She was adorable and attentive to detail (even down to making sure no dye got onto my glasses frame). It was a very homey and welcoming environment. I got my whole head dyed a burgundy color and Amber was experimenting with how to style it because I wasn’t sure what I wanted. It was a fun experience. My color kind of faded after a month; probably because reddish colors are harder to maintain. I let Amber know and she was more than happy to schedule a new appointment for me to fix/​adjust any issue. I would totally recommend this place.

Amber is the sweetest hairstylist on earth. I wasn’t even really sure what I wanted, but Amber gave me the perfect cut. She’s wonderful to talk to and has an incredibly warm and friendly personality. Everything about Mint Salon is enjoyable. The store has a cute vintage theme, and is always kept neat and tidy. There’s no weird hair salon smell! I definitely plan on coming back here.
I recommend calling in advance to see how busy they are– there’s only two ladies running Mint Salon. However, they make the place feel like home, and are definitely worth trying out.

People: Nicole was sincerely sweet, shyly offered a hug during walkin consultation. She and her husband were very gracious, kindly offered coffee and refreshments during the appointment.
Place: Adorably decorated with retro/​whimsical vibe. Very comfy. Shampoo room especially cute.
Price: Reasonably Fair and clearly listed
Service: Went from virgin unprocessed dark brown/​black hair to gold/​Brown balayage. Very happy with the placement of highlights, color is pretty close to what I asked for, and hair still feels healthy.
Overall very pleasant experience at Mint Salon. 5 stars alone for genuine sincerity, which is rare in the hair industry. Will return in future.

This is the best salon I have ever been to! My hair always comes out perfect! Amber and Nicole are miracle workers. I get my color done here and also my extensions put in, before I use to get damage from extensions now that I started coming to amber I have not had any hair loss!

Very unprofessional Salon. I couldn’t decide between this salon and another one I saw on Unilocal.I planned to do a walk in and was willing to wait for an availability. (Since their Unilocal says they accept walk ins) seemed perfect since I rarely have free time and I’m tired of doing my own hair. I wanted to get an olaplex treatment + lighten my hair pretty drastically from a very dark color. I stopped by yesterday at around 1pm but there was a sign over the door that said «closed be back at 2:30» so I went home. I decided to drive back to the place at around 3 and still nothing. Still closed. I peeked inside to see if maybe they forgot to take the sign down before they left or to see if they were maybe inside? But I didn’t see anyone so again, I left. I decided to try one more time at around 4 and this time the blinds on the door were shut and the sign that said «be back at 2:30» was no longer there. it just said closed… I’m sorry but their hours claimed they closed at 6 so why we’re they closed at 1pm? I called an left a voicemail saying I was going to try again today and asked them to give me a call back. I decided to give this place another chance for whatever reason today and let me say my experience once inside the salon was not the greatest. I walked in and was greeted by a nice lady who was working on a clients hair. Straight ahead of me were two other ladies who seemed to be busy as well so I kind of stood there for a few seconds and then finally one of the two ladies came over and told me that they worked their too. So I asked if they had an availability today and she said «oh well we are actually taking a personal day and we are doing each other’s hair for an event tomorrow… Maybe she (pointing at the lady who was actually doing her job) can help you when she’s done?» Of course the lady was booked so she couldn’t help me. Which is fine because I am a walk in. But why was this other lady acting like shes going to help me but instead say shes too busy doing her own hair? Oh and not to mention the fact that she looked like she was going to attempt to squeeze me in and help me but looked over at her coworker who was giving her the «no you’re doing my hair look» it was ridiculous. I can’t even explain how I felt. Pretty embarrassed. Of course an hour after I left I got a call from some guy who works there telling me he wanted to offer me 20 dollars off my hair cut if I wanted to book an appointment since no one was able to help me earlier? He mentioned nothing about them being closed yesterday and making me drive back and fourth (which I mentioned in the voicemail) Also I didn’t even go in to get my hair cut they didn’t even bother asking me what I wanted done when I went to the salon. Oh and why was he was barely returning my call from yesterday? Lol a little late don’t you think? Probably only to avoid a bad review since no one wanted to help me earlier.

I went in for a balayage & to go lighter on my hair which is kind of a challenge since my hair has red tones in it but Jess did an amazing job! She’s such a sweetheart & she went through every product before she applied it to my hair. I felt so at ease when I explained to her what I wanted & she went beyond it! I’m completely in love with my hair & I am for sure going back to her !

This review is for Nicole Mesquit, the owner of mint salon, and my dearest friend of 10 years. I not only get to work with her, but I also have the privilege of her being my permanent hairstylist. All the reviews you read about her are true, she has a vast imagination and extremely consistent with her work. I trust her with my hair 100%, because I know how much she cares about keeping my hair healthy and undamaged. She’s super sweet too!

I just moved to Orange County from Texas where I had been with my hair stylist for 3 years. Having thin, fine, blonde hair I was extremely nervous about letting someone new do my hair. I’m happy to report that Nicole M. did an amazing job! She listened to what I wanted and made it happen, while also keeping my hair in good health. Needless to say, she is now my go-​to girl here in the OC!
Beyond Nicole being very skilled, she is also super sweet and has created such a cute and comfortable setting in her salon!

They were so nice and they knew exactly what they were doing! I loved my hair so much! Thank you Nicole and Amber! I danced the whole night and my hair still stayed all in!:)

I’m usually the type to jump around from salon to salon but I think I found my permanent stylist! Nicole Mesquit did an amazing job on my hair. She’s the type of person that listens to exactly what you want and makes what you envisioned come to life. It’s remarkable what she’s capable of. I got a balayage style and she made it look natural and easy to maintain. I don’t need root touch ups or anything and can let it grow out naturally. I’ll be coming back for more styles and experimentations because I trust Nicole with my hair. She completely won me over!

Nicole (the owner) is who I book with and every time she gives me 120% effort! She takes her time and really cares about the welfare of your hair. I asked her to cut and color (lighten) my hair and she insists that just because I have dark (almost black) hair doesn’t mean I have to bleach it. I felt bad inside because I knew that meant she was gonna spend a LOT of time on me! I almost felt guilty for not insisting for her to go ahead and use bleach! But she amazingly proved her point and I’m so glad I didn’t object because the color came out the perfect tint of chocolate brown (which is what I wanted) and the health of my hair was somehow shinier than it was before she dyed it! I’ll have pictures up soon but it’s been months now and I’m due to come back for a trim. So now that the weather is warmer I def want to go even lighter! She was very professional throughout– called me prior to remind me of my appt, offered drinks upon arrival, even clued me in on her discount offer on Unilocal.Def above and beyond! Honestly I’m shocked of any negativity thrown their way. Love their décor, location, talent and above all work ethic. Cool peeps I’m definitely a fan! Pics TBA

Just got my hair did and am so happy with it as usual. I remember the days of watching my stylist’s every move, untrustingly making sure everything is perfect. Never am I nervous when I get my hair done by Nicole. She’s excellent at her craft and I trust her opinions and suggestions, not to mention she’s the sweetest person ever! All the girls here will make you feel welcomed to this super cute salon. I send all my friends and family here for a reason!

The Mint Salon in Garden Grove is so cute and so is Amber, she gives a great haircut I have a bob and they are difficult to cut, not that difficult it’s just its hard to get it even and Amber has done it perfect. I started to go to Amber after my hairdresser I had for 30 years destroyed my cut and Amber recut it and it was perfect! Thanks Amber!!!
She will be my hairdresser from now on.

Mint Salon is located right along Historic Main Street. It’s a really cute shop, and Nicole is super sweet.
I have thick hair. And when I say thick, I mean like a pain in the a**. Nicole had no problem working with it, and clearly knew what she was doing. I came in just for a trim and some layers, and left with my hair feeling healthy, smooth, and manageable.

If I could give no stars I would. I got my hair done by Nicole and she did not do a good job at all. She cut all my hair off and did not know how to cut layers. On top of that she gave me a lot of attitude, which I did not like at all. She kept arguing with all of my requests. She gave me highlights when I asked for an ENTIRE hair color change and wanted to charge me extra to change it. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY HER. Worst hair stylist I’ve ever been to. Trust me.

I met Nicole a couple weeks ago during a collaborative effort to throw a badass fashion show at The Charity Shop a few doors down. She’s an old soul and knows what you like and what suits you just by looking at your hair. I’d like to call this unique gift «hair empathy.»
My experience at Mint Salon this morning was exactly what I needed — a relaxing and therapeutic beginning to a treat-​yoself-​day. The place is immaculate, but hardly sterile. Retro, vintage and artistically decorated — it brings out the warm sweetness that Nicole embodies. Her talent speaks for itself as I walked away with a haircut that was exactly what I wanted and more. :)

Even if you aren’t getting a service done, I highly recommend stopping by to check it out if you’re in the area! Fantastic service at a reasonable cost compared to most high-​end salons. 100% worth the $$ with the one of a kind service that comes with it.
