I just can’t begin to describe how bomb the food. My friend and I literally went to food heaven today. Imagine your favorite meal of all time, times 1000. Yes, it’s that good. Here goes: I started off with the Napalm Tots. Incredible. The Napalm sauce is like a blend of Siracha and Tapatio, so it has a great spicy kick. Combine that with blue cheese, homemade ranch drizzle, juicy chicken bites and perfectly crisp tater tots and you get a mouthful of pure bliss. Mess Hall is so generous with their portions, I shouldn’t have ordered anything else, but I did. I also ordered, the War Pig kale bowl, which consisted of perfectly sautéed kale, and fall off the bone pork, the Major Beef kale bowl, and the Private Kobe grilled cheese(don’t judge; I shared with my co-workers). I honestly can’t decide which was my favorite because everything blew me away. The only thing that bummed me out was the fact that the truck ran out of Mac and Cheese, but that’s ok. That just gave me another reason to go back!

AJ Ordered their incredible poutine tater tots, piled high and smothered in corned beef, cheese and gravy. Amazingly delicious. I ordered a regular plain seasoned order and they were also piled high and delicious!

Came to my office today. I got the Kobe Beef kale bowl. It was ok. The beef itself didn’t have much flavor, was almost burnt on one side(see pics). The sauce on the other hand was really good and I wish I had asked for extra! There is definitely a ton of kale in it… could have used more beef really. Love the mushrooms and the overall flavor and texture wasn’t too bad. I don’t think I would get this again… maybe a mac and cheese next time. That got rave reviews in the office. That’s what I get for trying to be a little more healthy LOL.

Great food. Super filling. Really high priced for a food truck though. Sandwich, tater tots and a Mexican Coke came to around $ 20. The food was really good and they were very friendly and fast so I’ll give them 4 stars. Pulled pork on a glazed Donut is amazing. Be careful though because the food will put you into a food coma so expect some down time after you eat.

Went to a food truck festival and never even heard of this truck. OMG it was worth the wait! My party got a warpig mac and cheese, major beef mac and cheese, drunken sailor grilled cheese and napalm tots. AMAZING!!! I highly recommend this food truck. Our whole group agreed that out of all the places we tried, this was all of our favorites. And those mac and cheese bowls were enough to share.

So excited to try this truck. We kept seeing people pass by with these huge mounds of tasty tots & we had to try! They were at the Fall Food Truck Festival in Del Mar & my friends I all tried the GI Tots and the Major Beef Kale Bowl. The GI tots was good at first bite but was a little overwhelming with all the garlic bits in it. The ranch drizzle was a nice touch. The kale bowl was different, sautéed kale with shredded carrots on the bottom, topped with BBQ Kobe brisket, drizzled with a chipotle aioli sauce. Definitely a healthier option than the Mac n cheese version.

Here’s what I had: — Private Kobe —(grilled Wagyu Kobe beef, bacon, mushroom, charred onion aioli, bleu cheese) It was too salty and when combined with the bleu cheese, it was too heavy and unbearable to eat without lots of water to flush out the salty/clam-chowder-like texture. 2⁄5 Overall: I appreciate their unique spin on comfort food but this particular grilled cheese was just overwhelmingly salty and mushy. Maybe their other items are more manageable to eat. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that their other food items would be better because at least they do put effort in creating something different. That is why I’m giving them a 3⁄5.

Mess Hall Canteen was my number one pick of food trucks to try at Brew Ha Ha this year, and let me tell you, I have no regrets with my decision. I ordered the drunken sailor Mac and cheese — it was amazing. I’m not even a huge fan of Mac and cheese, but if you top it off with lobster, crab, and masago, ohhh I’m a fan. My boyfriend and I shared because we weren’t super hungry, but he wanted to order another before we were even halfway done.

I ordered the War Pig and it was spicy! The napalm sauce is definitely hot. I am kind of a wimp when it comes to spicy food, so I should’ve known better. But it was still delicious. It was stuffed with pulled pork and the bread was grilled perfectly. I don’t think it had cheese other than the blue cheese so it wasn’t really like the«grilled cheese» I was expecting with tons of cheese oozing out. In retrospect, I would’ve ordered the mac n cheese because other people’s looked awesome! My husband can’t eat dairy(poor thing) so he got a kale bowl with chicken and peanut sauce and kimchee. He said it was way better than he was expecting and gave it two thumbs up. An order of tots fed three of us as our side dish. I will definitely try them again! Just beware that napalm sauce. :-)

I wanted to check this place out since my boss recommended it. We ordered the War Pig in a sandwich. You can also get it as a bowl. Flavors were not too bad. It was on the spicy side but no complaints there cuz I love spicy thangs. Only flavor I disliked was the blue cheese. I decided to leave it on since it was created with all those ingredients for a reason. It just was a little over powering for me. The tater tots had a good crunch though. Probably will stick to my burger trucks.

Just had a drunken sailor grilled cheese and just walked over to my car but thinking of turning back around and get another drunken sailor grilled cheese… That’s how freaking amazing it is. Ooey cheese and lobster and Dungeness crab ++ encased in buttery Texas toast. Portion is huge and price is great. I’m stuffed and there isn’t a lot id be a glutton for… But this… Ohhh yea! Gonna grab another. Fatty for dinner! Worth it!

Love this truck! Cheesy gooey goodness, in either a sandwich or a bowl? Sold. Their menu isn’t abundantly clear when you first look at it. You choose either mac and cheese or grilled cheese, then you choose the style/toppings/fillings. I had the mac and cheese ‘war pig’. The mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and had a nice tang on its own. The pulled pork was abundant and tasty. I kept getting crunchy(not flabby) pieces of bacon in every bite. The napalm sauce was hot, but not as hot as the name implies, so don’t be afraid. I usually stay away from blue cheese in these kinds of dishes, but it went well with this bowl. One bowl was more than enough for two people. It was our entire lunch that day, and we couldn’t even finish it. Did I mention they make one of their sandwiches on a donut instead of bread?

I remember seeing these guys on Food Truck Face Off and winning. I remember being happy that they were local, and I was hoping to try them soon. Since it can be hard to bump into certain food trucks, I had forgotten for a while. Until recently, I literally was just saying that I still wanted to try these guys, and sure enough I bump into them for the first time on our Tuesday stop. If they had come before, I had missed them. I don’t make it every week, but I do a lot more now. I had to try them. A father and son run this truck, and there was another man there as well. First thing that stood out and what makes me really enjoy them is their customer service. That is huge in my book. If you are going to be rude to me as a paying customer, you don’t deserve my hard earned money. These guys are great. They also support our troops, and 100% of their tips go straight to Patriots and Paws. I asked what the masago aioli was and he explained it to me and even provided me a sample! He explained that their sauces mesh well with the particular sandwich that they go in. I was tempted to go with the Drunken Sailor, but I wasn’t feeling like having seafood this round. I don’t remember what all is in it, but it involved lobster, snow crab, and this masago aioli which is a mayo based sauced with caviar in it. Their items are made as a grilled cheese, a mac n cheese bowl, or a kale bowl. They also have the MP item which consists of pulled pork, and some other stuff inside a glazed donut. Some people ordered this and walked away with a gigantic smile on their face. I liked how all the items have military-like names. While I passed on the Drunken Sailor this round, I went with the Major Beef, and made it a grilled cheese. It consisted of bbq, wagyu beef, bacon, cheddar, and chipotle mayo. I later decided that the Yard Bird was right up my alley and I happened to notice it later. It involved grilled chicken, pesto, and feta, along with some other items. I may have to try it in a kale bowl next time. I hope a next time is soon too. While I did not see any kale bowls come out during my visit, I am sure it comes out like the mac n cheese which was not small! Even my grilled cheese was far from thin and quite filling! There were about six items on the board, and some of the pictures hanging on their truck was not listed on the board, so I am sure that some items rotate. Oh and this was huge for me. I loved hearing the Irish music playing the whole time I was there!!! One of my favorite parts. Also thanks guys for even providing some tall tables for people to stand at and eat on. I love these guys and who they support. Loved the music, loved the service, and loved the food! Please come back soon so that I can try these other dishes.

Wow! I woke up next day craving the Drunken Sailor Grilled Cheese. It was that good. I ran into this truck one night at Bottle Logic and the smell lured me in! The drunken sailor has lobster, crab, cheese… ugh, mouth watering! My friends got the wagu beef and the spicy pork and both loved their sandwiches as well. I need to find this truck again and devour another Drunken Sailor. This grilled cheese is not meant to be shared, don’t be naïve and split one with a friend. You will immediately regret it. Keep up the great work you guys!

Drunken sailor grilled cheese is definitely one of the most amazing things I’ve ever consumed in my life! Lobster tail, snow crab, bacon, masago aioli and cheddar. I’m blown away. 100% of their tips and merchandise goes towards Patriots and Paws. Exceptional service! Great charity! Great food! Need I say more?

Damn good tacos!!! military themed food truck with some punk rock playing on the speakers. Awesome way to spend a lunch break at work on a Friday. They pulled right up in our parking lot. They got 4 or 5 different styles of tacos/grilled sandwiches and I’d imagine the sandwiches are just as good as the tacos I had. Oh and apparently they won food truck face off on the food network so if that doesn’t get you to try it I don’t know what will.
