The chicken tacos and beans were very good. My Son is a picky eater and typically orders plain cheese enchiladas. The enchilada sauce tasted like tomato soup and the enchilada rice and beans were submerged in the sauce. I would not recommend this.

The tacos were super tiny, and a little on the bland side. The place was dirty. Agua de pepino and piña was good.

This little hole in the wall looks super janky and dirty but they have some bomb ass tacos! It’s $ 1.25 per taco and the food is greasy, oily, but super flavorful and incredibly delish! Best tacos I’ve had in the area! I also like that they give you grilled onions. The al pastor here is the shiiz! Although, it is super oily… Eat your tacos quick because the tortillas get soggy! I don’t think I’d be able to take these to go because the tortillas would end up soggy and breaking once I get home. I liked all the tacos I’ve tried here; carne asada tacos were pretty good, carnitas was super soft, fatty and delicious, and the chorizo was very flavorful! I’ve only had the tacos here, but they’re so flavorful and amazeballz! If you can get over the fact that it’s not the cleanest here, it’s totally worth to try out their tacos!

Food: 3.5 Stars Décor: 1.5 Stars Overall: 2.5 Stars Am I in TJ or California? This place takes hole in the wall to another level. The Camaron Cocktail is good, the chips were greasy and soggy, and they made a fresh tortilla for one of the burritos ordered. Overall really decent food here but the place needs a steam cleaning from floor to ceiling.

We decided to come here for taco Tuesday because a friend of ours is a regular here. The place itself is pretty spacious and I was told that they also have karaōke night. We ordered the tongue, brain, ears and I forgot what the last one was. The meat were very tender but I wished there were more flavorful. I was hoping the sauce would help but it didn’t. I also order a large cup of horchata, which is very different it tasted like they roasted the rice. The staffs here are also very nice though. I mean I would eat here again if my friends want to eat here but it is not my top choice.

It’s okay here. This place definitely is a mom and pop shop. I do not speak Spanish so when I was trying to order food, the waitress that took my order had no idea what I was trying to order. Once I got past the language barriers and ordered what I wanted, it was okay from there. The food was okay too, but I’ve had better Mexican food.

Chips and salsa were bomb had beans and cheese on top. Beans 10/10, had menudo, gordita, burrito and enchiladas all AMAZING! Only thing that could have made it better was music, otherwise I would def come again if in the area visiting

Honestly, I can’t think of better tasting tacos in the area! So good! The place is a little dirty and the dudes making your tacos prepare it with their bare hands so there’s that … but if you don’t mind all that you’re in for some bomb tacos! We come here at least once a week. Order up in front, the lady hands you your order to give to the guy making your tacos. They just throw the meet on the tortilla, you put whatever you want on your tacos — Cilantro and onions, different kinds of salsa, limon, they even serve grilled chili and onions. I’ve tried all their meat here and love every one. Usually I just stick with Al Pastor and Buche. Again, best tacos I’ve had around. Just have to deal with the grittiness of this place, but I don’t mind if the food is good.

I’d like to consider myself to be pretty seasoned when it comes to Mexican cuisine. I’m not an expert or anything, eating it weekly deserves some recognition when it comes to the food. I too, came here based on other Unilocalsters and happily ordered, Tacos and Papusas with a Taquito dish on the side(LOL, I did not finish all of that, just as an FYI). Let’s talk Food: All other factors aside. This place had some damn good tacos, and not skimpy ones either. I tried the Asada and the Lengua and already noticeably, they pack on the meat to get you full. Good Sh**. Also — Lengua itself is a bit tricky to cook, if not done correctly, it can taste gamey and strong, but there was some definite TLC when handling that meat. Their papusas are good, but I have had better, yet the Taquitos literally blew my mind… Wowzers. The Downside: I must agree that a few of the patrons that have visited here hit the nail on the head when it comes to the cleanliness of the establishment. I really, really wanted to give this this place a higher rating but whilst waiting for my food to cook, I did have time to scope the place out. There were quite a few employees, I’d say 5 from what I could see at least, and being that it wasn’t THAT busy, I was wondering why no one came out to check the salsa bar… poor thing was looking to be a bit neglected, that and the table that I was sitting at, had that stick to the skin residue on it *shudder*. So I really hope that they take some notes here… I L O V E D most of the food I ordered, Maria’s Mexican Food seriously has some talent hidden in their kitchen — BUT — I am much more willing to re-visit a clean restaurant, no matter how good the food is.

YUCK! Ordered two burritos and a side of chips and guacamole; the food was horrible tasting, not fresh, and this place looked dirty and ghetto. We only came here based on the star rating and a hankering for some burritos. I took only a few bites of my food and threw it into the trash. To make matters worse, after handling cash, the lady at the front counter, grabbed my tortilla chips with her hands. She didn’t wash her hands before grabbing the chips, nor use tongs. The guacamole was watery and had no flavor. I’m so disappointed. Lesson learned, not everything with a good rating on Unilocal means it taste great. I am preemptively taking pepto bismol right now in anticipation of feeling sick later.

Craving ceviche so searched and found four stars and thought great! Let’s give this a try. Ordered ceviche & agua chiles and horchata. Chips tasted stale & Horchata tasted bad as if had been sitting out for a few days. Didn’t get the ceviche(I guess the waitress didn’t understand our order. Agua chiles verde was flavorless & not hot. We had to order extra hot sauce on the side which seemed to be watered down. The shrimp SHOULD have been cold. Granted it was a hot day but it bordered between cool and room temperature. Asked for extra crackers but they tasted like cardboard. Didn’t even bother to reorder the ceviche. Not coming again. But the salsa that came with the chips was good. Also no AC

This place is good for take out but to actually eat there. Its not worth it. The service sucks. The waitress said she was coming back in a minute and she never came back. 15 minutes later and we needed to flag her down. The pnlu reason I gave then two stars and not one was because they have multiple tv’s to watch there soccer game.

This is one of those places that I would go to if me and my friends were not going to drive to San Diego for a taco. So far in OC, they have the best Al Pastor tacos I’ve tried. Everything else is great too. They’re really authentic which is also awesome. One day though, I wanted my friends to try this place out, and we saw a cockroach crawling on the wall near the register. We pointed it out and the workers didn’t really do anything. It didn’t bother me too much since I understand that these pest just come out some times, but it really bothered my friend. Oh Well, still doesn’t change the fact that this place is so good. Just needs to be a little cleaner, that’s all.

Hey, so I’ve been kind of a lame Unilocalster, I read the reviews but never write them, until now. 1st the food, service and atmosphere here are all great. I mean this is one of the best mexican place I’ve had, and i eat it all the time. Im not a foodie so no rambling about how the carnitas flavor burst into my mouth with alacrity, signaling a truly wonderful meal was about to happen… The main reason im writing is because while eating here I read some of the other reviews and I was floored by Sender D! The terrified Caucasian male who reviewed this place yesterday! Well I’m here, its almost midnight, I’m guilty of being white, however I didnt grow up in a sheltered all white suburban shell. And Sender D. If you want a lesson in life, try this place again. I’ll meet you here. Im not saying this for any other reason than I will show you there’s nothing to be scared of, and because it will be a great excuse to come back. This place is great!

Best Carnitas I have ever had. Fresh cut onions, cilantro and meat. I could probably eat those all day, every day. 10 carnitas and a giant strawberry margarita for $ 20. That’s a deal you can not miss out on. This place is definitely in a hole in the wall and in a kinda sketchy area, but extremely worth it. There’s also more food than what’s on the menu!

Hole in the wall, mom and pop shop located in an imperfect, sketchy and dated strip mall. Get past that and you will find BOMB ass street tacos. Muy sabroso! Haven’t tried much of anything else but a few of their tacos AND them tacos alone has made me FORVER, their customer. So addicted to these crack tacos. Well seasoned, flavorful goodness wrapped in 2 corn tortillas. They are indeed delicious and a step above any other tacos around here. After 6:00 pm is when you should devour these sinful Mexican treats. This is when they actually grill the goods right in the shop, in the dining area! Fresh and hot to your plates. Al Pastor has bold flavors and a bit greasy but dam good. I mean, you’re eating pork shoulder so expect some fat guys. It ain’t a turkey taco. Carnitas is milder in flavor but not weak by all means. Lighter on the spices but definitely delivers! Buche, Buche, Buche. My love. This delectable Pork Stomach Taco is PHENOMENAL! Authentic and so tasty! Slightly chewy, great texture. Cannot get enough of this! Te Amo Maria… Be sure to demolish these tacos with their grilled onions and jalapeños. Red and green sauce available. I fancy the green sauce. WARNING: The tortilla does gets soggy fast. I mean, REALLY fast guys. Best eaten there but if you can’t, just be aware that it does get sloppy soggy real quick. I can overlook this flaw bc the real deal, kick-ass filling is that good. Especially the Buche. Hmmmmmmmm. Had a taste of their burrito consisting of a trio blend of Al Pastor, Carnitas and Buche. This here is for the big boys! The men! Carnivore lovers! This«No Joke» burrito is for sure a hearty meal! Final thought… GOOOOOD Street Tacos for about $ 1.25. They can serve crappy anything else and I will still give then 5* for their authentic, muy delicioso Buche Tacos. Most definitely will try other dishes Maria has to offer and shall update Mis Amigos!

Oh… WOWWW!!! This place looks plain and sorry on the outside, but when you walk in, you can see all kinds juicy meat being grilled right in the dinning area(besides the stuff that is cooked behind the counter, in the back kitchen). Definitely a hidden gem, taken out of Mexico and placed in Garden Grove. Maria’s Mexican Food is legit! Al Pastor is so bomb here! Straight from the fire spit, juicy ass meat. My friend even got 4 orders of just them as tacos. Barbacoa de Borrego Lamb — really savory shredded lamb. It’s prepared similar to the Hawaiian food laulau and is also wrapped in banana leaf. I also ate a Gordita with Chorizo that was spicy. The meat had a dark brown color, not the more commonly found red ones. It was so full of flavor and had it’s own slight natural sweet juiciness — taste different and way better than chorizo found at other places. The gordita was huge and looks nothing like Taco bell’s. It’s also filled with queso fresco, that Mexican cheese. :D The meats here are so amazing that they even rival the good ones that I have tasted in Mexico. Even their grilled onions were surprisingly way more delicious than one would imagine. Tacos are also priced nicely like if it’s Mexico at $ 1.25 each, adding to the authenticity, lol.
