Golden Papaya

I’ve been here twice now because it’s right next door to where I work. It’s a cute little café with pretty good food and drinks. I’ve tried the Taro Slush and Hot Green Tea so far and both have been delicious. The Taro Slush was a regular size for a really good price: 2.95. I’m usually paying $ 4+ in other locations, with OR without boba.
I’ve had their sampler trio with Popcorn Chicken, Popcorn Shrimp, and Cajun fries. My favorite was the shrimp. The chicken is alright but the shrimp has better flavor and texture. The fries don’t have much flavor but they’re a good side to pair the shrimp and chicken with.
Overall the place is pretty empty the two times I’ve gone. Maybe because it’s 1pm during the week but still. The lighting is subpar and the stacked up chairs at the front make it look unprofessional and a bit unwelcoming but once I started talking to the lady at the counter I was relieved. I’ve met the woman and she’s a sweetheart. She got my drink ready right away and then my food. We even had a nice conversation. She really sealed the deal for me coming back. Today the person behind the counter is a guy. He seems a little shy but not rude at all. I’ve had a pretty good experience so far.
The only thing that gets a little annoying is that half of their food items aren’t available for whatever reason. I feel like they should let you know or put a sign up so you don’t get your hopes up. I wasn’t able to get the chicken dumplings or the curly fries.
Overall I’m giving the place 4 stars because it’s a nice place to come to during my break at work. I see lots of board games and two computers and while I haven’t used them, I’m sure others appreciate the availability of them. Not to mention the high speed FREE wifi. I’m able to sit and enjoy my lunch in peace without being bothered but I’m not exchanging it for lack of service. I’m treated kindly and courteously which is the most important when trying somewhere new. I don’t care if the food is great, if the people are rude I’m not coming back. But that’s not the case here. I’ll definitely become a usual in the months to come. Thanks Golden Papaya!

BEST PLACE EVER! Free wifi, amazing food, and board games? Yes, please. The popcorn chicken is super duper good but I wish the portions were bigger! Peach sunset will forever be my favorite drink here. It is super refreshing and not too sweet. I have been here many times and every time is a joy. I went vegan recently so ig no more popcorn chicken for me:(however if you are around this place you should definitely check it out! Super duper amazing.

I’m here right now and its pretty dead but well worth it. Its somewhat hidden in a forgotten corner of a small plaza, here with two friends got some drinks, passion fruit tea, milky way, strawberry slush and some Cajun fries. Not a bad place to come and study or just hangout with some friends, I recommend this place to anybody who goes to coffee or tea shops.

It’s nice place for studying if you want to come for your essay. Y can stay here as long as you want to.

The 4 stars is for their awesome check in deal. Buy $ 7 in drinks/​food get a free popcorn chicken. Their popcorn chicken is worth $ 5.50. It was pretty good with the sauce but I’ve had better. You can’t hate it if it’s free. Also ordered their signature drink the Milky Way and it was my bad I didn’t order boba with it as I had assumed it was included. They had a couple of pictures of this drink on their counter with boba so that’s where the assumption was made. Had a taste of the Taro Slush which was good here as well. Prices were decent as everything was less than $ 8. It was a hot day and they had fans running but it would have been nice if they turned on the ac.

Basic place. Dropped by on Friday night it was empty. Some irritating people made the vibe all messed up.
Bought the Groupon and its not worth it.
Before buying a groupon you should read this. I got to use it but I could have used it some other time. Its good for locals but I wouldnt go out of my way for this place.

I came here after reading that if I buy a large boba then I get an appetizer for $ 1, I got a large milk tea but then the guy asked if I wanted an appetizer. I was fine at the time but then he started saying it was good and everything so I decided fine I guess I will. He further pressured me to order popcorn chicken along with it also saying it was recommended and good and whatever. The total was around $ 12 so apparently that whole FB check-​in for $ 1 appetizer was a lie.
The milk tea and food made up for it. The milk tea was regular milk tea so it was ok, the garlic noodles and popcorn chicken was pretty good. I was surprised how spicy it was for mild though, I wonder what spicy is like.
I would come again if I were in the area, tips if you see an event by this place make sure it’s specific bc instead of «buy a large boba and get $ 1 appetizer» instead it was «$ 1 off large boba and get pressured into buying more food».

Been here once a few years agp, decided to give this place another try, for their signature drink, the milky way. 4.25 for a large, has chocolate and caramel.
Upon walking in, it was empty on a Saturday night (9 pm) i was not greeted. Order was taken, he instantly made it. It was okay. From a review i read: you could see that the person took time to make this drink” i see what that person meant. It was still okay though, maybe i came on off day.

I went for that special promotion they had going on where if you checked into facebook & bought a large boba on a specific list they had of drinks, you can buy their appetizers for only $ 1 (regular size). After asking for their recommendation, the cashier pointed out a list of drinks that were popular here. My sister and I decided to get the milk tea and jasmine milk tea with boba. As for appetizers, we decided popcorn chicken and cajun fries.
Drinks:
Milk tea — it’s a pretty sweet drink, but still good
Jasmine milk tea — pretty good just like any typical jasmine milk tea
Boba — great chewy texture but was bland, didn’t taste any hint of sweetness
Food:
They arrived in small trays, like sample trays
Popcorn chicken — I ordered medium spicy level and was content with the spice and breaded texture, but it had no seasoning whatsoever. Luckily it came with a sweet chili sauce, so that saved the popcorn chicken
Cajun fries — Medium spice level but lacked Cajun seasoning. There was like one part of the fries that were sprinkled with cajun… like seriously, where is the flavor… or at least add salt to the fries because it tasted really bland. It came along with ketchup or sweet chili sauce (your choice)
Overall, drinks were alright. I’ll just avoid the boba. Appetizers are pretty much worth it if they had that special promotion going on… otherwise at regular price… it’s small portion for an unreasonable price.

At the Golden Papaya you may not get your drinks as fast as you would at one of those large corporate chain coffee houses so if a less than five minute turnaround is what you are looking for do not come here. But if you are looking for above average customer service and a place where you can relax with tablet in one hand and a drink (that I should not be drinking) in the other then this is your place.

The popcorn chicken is different here from other boba stores. While other stores have small, crispier pieces of chicken, Golden Papaya have bigger, golden pieces of chicken that are tender inside and crispy on the outside. The chicken is well-​seasoned and their large order can make me full!
I’ve sipped on my friend’s drinks and ordered the Tropical Cutea: they’re pretty good.
I wish they got more business here, hopefully the phở and kbbq restaurant around here brings more customers! One negative is that large orders can take some time when it’s just the single owner/​worker.
P. S. Their deals save a couple bucks and they have coupons and loyalty cards.

Came here to get something sweet after I had phở next door. I ordered a honey green tea and it cost around $ 3. The service was fast and friendly and they have a nice sitting area with a few games that you could play while you hang out.
Its a nice option to get a drink while you’re in the area.

Alright so this place is pretty mediocre for a boba place. Why is that you might ask? I have been a usual customer with them and always favor there popcorn chicken and boba. Sometime the service would be awfully long just to make a simple thai tea boba for 30 min. For 3 dollar large boba you get half your cup filled with ice. Really now, I just paid 3 dollar for ice. The popcorn chicken I would say is very tasty and have flavor then most average boba place I have encountered, but sometime when you order a large boba or use there promo deal check in. They would give you half of what you paid for. When I play 5 dollar of popcorn chicken I expect my bowl to be filled at a decent level. Not half way.
I have been coming more lately to see if service changed. Lately I am seeing progress that boba are being produce faster when they are in there rush hour. They begin to use less ice (Your boba drink will contain 40% ice now. Wow.) Your appetizer are still getting ripped off as usual. (They only gave me 4 calimari rings. Really now. I paided 5 dollars.)
In conclusion, I would say Golden Papaya is a pretty mediocre boba place, but can be better. If you are looking for a place to hang out, it would have the atmosphere, but be careful on ordering boba drinks and appetizer. You may get ripped off sometime if the owner feels generous or not.

My favorite drink from here is the Milky Way drink. It hit my craving for something sweet nicely.

This place isn’t bad, It was enough to keep me coming in high school.
I really like their shaved ice, popcorn chicken, and Thai tea. The portion size for the shaved ice is really good, 5 ish dollar medium and it its pretty large! I was one of the few in my group that actually liked their popcorn chicken and I feel like its really well seasoned. Some of the other things are really good but I’d either go somewhere else or the price makes it not worth it.
They make this place great for studying with the quiet atmosphere, free Wi-​Fi, and computers to use. (though many times I come the computers are not working, not a problem though since most people bring their own laptops)
A negative would definitely be the service. It’s not only a little slow but the owner makes for a pretty awkward cashier. Not the best in customer service.
Some time in high school (A few years ago) I left my iPod here and went home. After tripping out and coming back, I was relieved to find that he kept it for me when he found it.
DO come here and check this place out, they have good food and drinks.

came here at night the environment was nice. There was a lot of board games and no one was there so it was quiet.
I ordered an iced tea and they gave me a hot tea. I asked nicely to get a new one per my request. It tasted pretty watered down. I suspect they just poured ice into the hot one and let it sit for a bit. They also overcharged me as well and I didn’t think about it until I had left.

Great study spot with refreshing drinks! This is my go-​to place when I have to study because of the mellow and laid back ambience. I love that the people and music aren’t too loud compared to other boba shops. In addition, FAST WIFI!
They always have BOGO specials but you have to mention it to the cashier first. They won’t promote their specials in the store sooo check fb and be sure to let them know. I like the taste and texture of their milk tea as the liquid is thin and easy to drink. (There are other boba shops that make their drinks too thick… Idk if I’m the only one that notices this? lol) Other tasty drinks I would recommend are the Peach Sunset and Milky Way.
The service here has been on the slow side for the past years that I have visited this place. HOWEVER, this has GREATLY improved when I went a couple days ago :) The only downside of this place is that there’s no AC and somewhat dim lighting. Other than that, it’s a good place when you want boba at a mellow place.

I’m done giving this place another chance. The bobas are in the watery side, popcorn chicken is mediocre, and the customer service is terrible. Their prices have gone up and the portions have been cut in almost half. i wouldn’t mind if the food quality were better.
Every single time I’ve been here there is 0 – 2 customers. Surely on Unilocal the store owner seems like a «carrying» person but once you’re at the establishment he could care less about you. You would think that they would actually try to better the customer service since we’re the ones that keep the business going. Without customers you have no sales. I mean not a single thank you has ever been said to me. I’m done giving this place my money I’ll just go to tastea instead

It took 30 mins to get 4 drinks…
To be exact, 2 Milky way without boba came out around 30 mins.
one Milky way with boba and half sweetness came out after another 3 – 5 mins…
and another peach drink came out after another 5 mins.
We also ordered a sampler of popcorn chicken, chicken wing and cheese stick. They came out after 45 mins after we ordered.
The cheese stick was hard. We played with it by hitting their metal table to make noise with it. Chicken wing and popcorn chicken both looked overcooked.
The milky way was good, less sweetness was still kind sweet. boba was fresh. It is a very good combination of milk tea, boba, pudding, chocolate syrup and caramel. I could tell the person who made drinks did put effort in it instead rushing it.
There was ONLY one person worked behind the counter to take order and make drinks and there were approx 6 – 8 drinks ordered before us.
Nice place to chat, service was very nice and friendly… Since 3 of us were all first timer, He answered all our questions nicely without rushing us to order.
They offer free wifi, my friend said it was fast so I ran a SpeedTest…
it wasn’t too bad. 14.46 Mbps for Download speed and 1.06 Mbps for Upload.
