All I need is combo b with udon & futomaki! I’ll eat this during the summer and not care how hot it is. It gets busy during lunchtime but is never a long wait. There is a woman who works there, and she had to be the nicest person. I’ve ever met. The service is really fast & prices are cheap. I think the combo meal is only $ 8.

Pretty good udon here! For $ 5 you get a good portion of udon. My friend ordered the combo which comes with sushi and they hooked him up with 3 extra sushi rolls! It took us forever to find the place tho. It was not in the big plaza but a very very small plaza down Gilbert street. Also, the name of the place has Korean symbols THEN«udon and sushi» after it. It does not say do re mi. The restaurant itself is cozy and small. I like how the tables you sit at makes you feel like home. Service was great also! Love the server, he was super friendly.

Kind of different Korean style udon place, located inside a super market. Pricing is not that bad for a combo(about $ 5) because they also throw in some sushi. The food overall is just whatever though.

I love this place!!! I remember this place since I was 7? years old. Best place for a quick Udon dinner. They relocated across the street into the plaza BEHIND the plaza on Garden Grove Blvd(I know. kinda confusing). We had to make a couple U-Turns to find the new location. The phone number is still the same so you can call them for their new address. Love their mussels, hwedobab, and udon w/cali rolls :].

Good uncrowded place to stop by afterwork. A lot of people come here alone(ie. Me –friendless/coworker-less party of one). Though very clean(and a huge step up from its smushed seating in the supermarket) it reminds me of those dives/street restaurants you see in Korean dramas. I mean that in a nice way! The trick to getting here is not falling for the first shopping plaza on the corner. It’s the one BEHIND it, across the street from the barber shop. The other trick is recognizing that it is the first shop from the left. Unfortunately, all the restaurant signs in this plaza are written in korean so if you forget this you might have to ask around. Really good udon for 4.95. They let me customize my order by adding 3 pieces of tuna sashima for 4.00. The ladies who served me were super nice. Seriously. I was inwardly calling them«auntie» by the time the check came. There was no place to sign or leave tip and the ladies waved off me going to the ATM and getting them tip(what!). «Next time,» they said. I’ll definitely have cash on hand for next time. They were generous with what I can only call«tasty, tofu, croûton-like thingys.» And they had Michael Buble’s classic covers CD playing in th background. All in all, this was both a classy and comfortably dive-y,

As others have noted this place moved across the street. They are in the shopping center behind the one on the corner. Basically you need to go to the buildings behind the ones on the North East corner. Its a much nicer and more open location. Same good food and service. I always get the udon and rolls. The udon soup has a nice broth that always hits the spot on a cool day. Check em out!

Like Jen T said this place was moved, because Hannam Chain is closed down now. 12942 Galway st. #A, Garden Grove is what Jen T says, I can’t confirm this location but I plan on checking if its there soon and i will update you guys on this. Well furthermore lets get into the review. Well ever since i was a little boy being Korean its pretty normal to have restaurants in a market kind of like a mall. So i often came to hannam chain just for Udon because its simply the best! I really enjoyed coming here as a child we called it sunday udon, and every sunday we would come here and get udon and california rolls. This simply is one of the best places for udon, bang for you buck kind of deal. You wont know till you try it!

My parents and I have been coming here since I was a baby! Literally walking distance from my house haha. I’ve not had a chance to visit the new location, but from what im reading thank GOD they have a place of their own now! They’ve closed down a couple times before with the supermarket in the past and always made me think… «NOMOREUDON!!!» The food here is enough to make you want to come back time and time again, whether it be a supermarket or its own restaurant. This place will forever be my favorite hole-in-the-wall, or not so hole-in-the-wall now! Service: Always EXCELLENT, about 3 people work on the food and prep and they get the food out in a reasonably fast amount of time. Presentation never changes and always looks appetizing. Seating is seat yourself and can get crowded if its a lunch rush, but hey, i’d wait for the food! I believe the parents or grandparents used to own the restaurant and their family runs the place. One of whom is a lady who is always nice and the other a drifter(racing, not a creepy dude) who is very friendly as well!) Food: Udon — The broth is what makes this, i have yet to find another place who can make an udon broth that can even compare to this one and believe me when this place closed down i searched high and low for a place that served udon of this caliber. NONE could match. Maybe im biased because ive been coming here since forever, but I’d like someone to prove me wrong. The noodles are great, and just the right amount of spicy. If you’re not a fan of spicy get it on the side as my brother doesn’t like it that hot. Soba — The noodles are very nice in texture and they give you a good amount for the price too. I like the broth you dip it in above all, it’s got a nice amount of sweet with the added green onions for a little extra crunch. My mom is the biggest fan of this one, she gets it almost very time we visit! Hedibap(Hwe dup bap?) I dunno how to spell it, but whatever it is its great! the greens are what make me a fan of this. I’ve tried other places«sashimi salad» and it is nowhere near as good. I dont know what it is about it but there is a nice mix of crunch and leafyness(if thats a word). They give you a generous portion of sashimi bits too that mix in nicely with the entire thing. The hot sauce you put on is also very nicely done! Dont put too much if you cant handle spicy, i used to not like it to much when i was a little kid and always wondered, «what is that stanky stuff the old people are eating?» but now i get this everytime!(crap, am i old?) California Rolls — Always good, just the right amount of rice and perfect size every time. Not overpowered by the avocado, crab or rice. Everything is balanced nicely in this dish! Inari — Great! Although i wasnt sure if the place right next to it that sold the inari made it for them? haha Mussels — Very good! Albeit a bit fattening with the amount of mayo on these i enjoy it a lot. It tastes great, but if you’re on a diet i’d skip these haha Radish — always fresh, great side snack! Overall: 5-stars. GG. What are you waiting for? Come here and grub on some GREAT food!

Although this place is inside a supermarket, the restaurant is small, the service is decent and the food makes it all worth it! The california rolls are great and the udon soup is tasty. Especially when you add the spicy red flakes in. It’s fresh and really simple. It’ll make even the hungriest hippo full with the combo.

This Udon house is very good. It’s located inside Hannam Market and has only about 9 tables. Its hard to get in and out of, but the Udon and the sushi is delicious. :) I’m giving it only 4 stars because the interior needs an upgrade. However the food is delicious and the service is not bad. The price was also pretty good. If you want a place to eat udon, and you are in this area, I would recommend coming here. My parents first discovered this place from a recommendation from a friend, and it was very good indeed! However, do not come here thinking you are coming to some fancy place because it’s more of a hole in the wall.

10/11/2010 Fresh, tasty, with friendly service at a great price. They provide a palette cleaning corn tea that gets you ready for all the great flavors. The raw fish salad, something I had never eaten before, was a perfect combination.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, because the reviews don’t seem to match the atmosphere. It’s located right inside of Hainam Supermarket. I got their udon and futomaki combo for $ 6.50. I think it’s one of the best udon place in Garden Grove. It was very fulfilling and a cheap meal. I’ll definitely go here again! The server was really friendly and accommodating too! Dinner for two, under $ 20, what a deal!

I’ve had Do Re Mi bookmarked for a while and I also happen to live pretty close by. But for some reason or another, I never made it here — until last week that is. I wasn’t sure where it was and I did drive thru the plaza once but eventually found the place in the Hannam supermarket. Walk in and you can’t miss it. Limited menu but believe me when I say this — it’s enough and you don’t need more. The combo’s themselves are inexpensive and pretty filling. I chose the special combo B: Udon and(6pcs) Futomaki for $ 8.50. The service was fine — it’s take your order and bring it out. There’s a water cooler if you want more water which the place is small enough that if you get up, a few steps and you’re there and back with refills. Back to the food — The Udon was nice and hot which went well on a chilly night. Noodles not soggy which I’ve found the case to be at other places. The Futomaki seemed freshly made. Not cold like it’s been refridgerated all day long. I normally do my shopping at the plaza down the block but I’ll switch it up when I feel like having Udon again. Good food and good prices. Can’t ask for more.

My sister in law and my niece always orders the Udon w/California roll to go. I have always ate the CA roll which is all the same to me at majority of places. But I finally got to try the Udon. I thought the food was just okay.

So here’s how the story goes: Friend: «Hey, wanna get udon for lunch?» Me: «Sure.» (Friend drives to Garden Grove, and pulls up in front of the supermarket.) Me: «You’re taking me to a… grocery? You suck.» Friend: «Dude, hole in the wall places are the best. Duh.» This is about the most inconspicuous little joint in Garden Grove, but MAN is their food good! We ordered family style, so for a party of four we split: –Two orders of combination A($ 6.50 for a bowl of udon, 3 pcs inari, and 6 pcs California roll. awesome deal!) –Cold soba(it was so-so, but only because in general I’m not crazy about buckwheat noodles) –Fish bowl(I forgot what it’s called, but it’s pretty much a poke tuna salad served with rice. So yummy!) Their food also includes a side of yellow radish, which I love! For just around $ 25 we were completely full. The owner’s son is super friendly and extremely proper/polite. They also serve delicious complimentary barley tea. Best of all, the udon was cooked perfectly, and everything tasted very authentic.

Talk about a hole in the wall type place. I’ve been to Hannam Market before and I’ve never even realized that it was secretly tucked away in the corner. My Unilocaling partner told me about this place and mentioned that it had near perfect marks so it got me intrigued. Upon entering, it doesn’t look like much. To be honest I thought it looked a bit cluttered but it wasn’t a big deal. One funny comment that she made though was that it was full. I looked around, counted only 8 tables, and thought in my head, «Of course its always full. They only have 8 tables.» The menu was quite simple. It reminded me of In-N-Out. Only the best, forget the rest. No filler plates here. I ordered the A combo which was thick udon noodle, with tofu and california rolls with one futokomi, which by the way is rice, egg, veggies, and seaweed. That was my first time having it but it was quite delightful. It also came with corn tea, something a bit different from what I“m used to, but good none-the-less. The service was pretty great actually. My friend told me that he was the son of the owner and I don’t doubt it. He was very polite, friendly, and attentive. The food was delicious. I found a new spot to go when I need a noodle fix and am tired of the same old phở. The sushi was also pretty good. I often shy away from sushi especially since I’m allergic to seafood, but this was good enough for me to risk a little itchiness. Anyhow, great food and great service for $ 5.99. :D

If you want great udon at a really great price come here. Their udon combo’s start at $ 5.99 which includes udon plus california rolls, or other rolls. My wife is a udon fanatic and this is her favorite place in OC to eat it. I highly recommend the«raw fish and steam rice» which is basically a rice bowl with raw fish, fresh greens and spicy pepper sauce. It’s amazing! It comes with a bowl of udon broth which compliments the rice bowl perfectly. It’s a good price at $ 8.99. I haven’t tried their sushi here and don’t plan to. Their specialty is the udon and raw fish rice bowl. The service here is always great. Enjoy!

Udon FTW! Cheap food is to be had here and it’s really good. Located in Hannam Supermarket, it’s been here for years. I just finally came around to writing a review on it. The lady that makes the food is the same, but I see that they’ve hired a new manager, a really nice Korean fellow. He’s super polite and very courteous. The food is excellent. BF ordered the sushi and udon for $ 10. It came with 8 pieces of sushi such as tuna, red snapper, eel etc. It was pretty good, but don’t expect top sushi chef quality food here. The udon is amazing! Love the consistency of the noodles and the base of the soup is just right. Not too salty and just the right amount. I ordered the raw fish with steam rice. Something I’ve had before in Diamond Bar, but this is closer, so kudos to that. It was pretty good, and the young gentleman informed me it was the house speciality. It comes with a big bowl of greens with sliced up raw fish, red sauce(sweet) to pour it over, and a small bowl of soup minus the udon. I loved the service here. It was so fun when we came because the cute supermarket staff was all into the World Cup game with South Korea. Definitely going to come back. They have other specials, and the price cannot be beat.
