Chinese, Cajun or Vietnamese? All 3 next to each located in The Shopping Center and all tasted so Yummy. I choose Cajun since the $ 5.00 sign posted caught my attention. Arrived around 130pm and the place was pretty empty, with the exception of 3 ladies having lunch together. The place is pretty small, but nice and comfy. They also have a plasma showing Espn. The waiter extremely sweet. He took our orders and brought out Cajun Fried Shrimp chips. I ordered the spicy Chicken and sausage gumbo with white rice $ 5.00 and Hubs Catfish Po Boy with sweet potato fries for $ 8.00.We were served within 10 minutes after placing the order. Both our meals were very delicious and the price for the portions, Great! The meal was just perfect. Having went to New Orleans last year and eaten at the Famous Acme Oysters, Well Dang Crabs food was just as Great! I’m definitely coming back to try there other items, especially the Beignets! With the success of seafood restaurants like Boiling Crab, it seems like a variation of the restaurant pops out every few months. Especially lively in the Garden Grove/Westminster area, whenever people have a hankering for crabs and shrimp, there is no shortage of options available. However, with so many coming out of the wood work, does the Boiling Crab formula work with these other restaurants? Specifically, does Dang! Crabs Cajun Cuisine stack up to such high expectations? When walking into the restaurant, the feel of it is very mellow. Going for a take on New Orleans fashion, the place is painted in an orange hue with trinkets and photos depicting the down south feel. Jazz floats along lively and flat screen TVs silently depict sports. For a seafood restaurant where you’ll be getting your hands dirty, the restaurant is very clean and well kept. The servers will greet you as you come into the restaurant and you can’t help but chuckle that they all wear shirts with«DANG» written across the chest. If nothing else, this restaurant has a sense of humor. The service here is top notch, with plenty of attention given. Although the boils are listed under«Market Price» for their costs, the servers are well educated and let you know what the pricings for the day are. If you are new to eating seafood boils, the servers are very polite in helping you understand the menu and what you might like. They are helpful, have great energy, and check up on you when you need them. Let’s get to the food. The food here is different. Unlike Boiling Crab where the boils would be swimming around in sauce in a plastic bag, Dang! Crabs serves up your boils in a large red platter. Whatever boil you order, it comes with corn on the cob, a few slices of sausage, and okra. The different sauces are a lemon herb, garlic butter, and Cajun spicing. You also have the option of mixing all three together, although after trying it, I’d recommend getting them on the side. The garlic butter is very potent and has a lingering after taste. Being seafood, the quality of the food is based on the quality of the ingredients and Dang! Crabs has some decent ingredients in stock. The blue crabs are well sized, the shrimp are pink, and the free prawn chips given before the meal are crisp and spicy. They also make some decent dessert, with the classic beignets sparkling in their powdered sugar and their bread pudding lightly floating in a sweet sauce. Just a fair warning though, both are very thick and dense. Both go well with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Dang! Crabs isn’t the head of the pack when it comes to seafood boil restaurants. There are plenty better out there. However, when it comes to a place where the service is genuine, the food is good, and the price is right, Dang! Crabs Cajun Cuisine fits all the criteria. It is a shame of how little of a crowd the place draws, but the extra space means more for you.

I’m an avid crawfish eater(bad, I know). I also have friends who know how to make cajun crawfish from Louisiana. With that being said… I was in the area with a friend and was super hungry. We asked if they had live crawfish at the moment and they did not. So we started off getting other items but ended up getting crawfish in the end. The lady at the table next to us told us kept saying it was really good. We got the following and its description: Charbroiled Oysters– This is served with bread. It was really good. It’s a must here. Cajun Fries– Did not lack favor and just what I had expected. Blue Crab– I am so glad we got this. It was really good. If blue crab is available, GETIT! Shrimp– Also good. Crawfish– Not bad for frozen crawfish, however, it tasted bland. I don’t recommend crawfish here. Beignets– Completely different than other beignets I have had. They must have used a different mixture. They were harder and over fried. Skip it. Our total was $ 65 with tip. The crawfish and the shrimp came with corn and a few pieces of sausages. The sausages were the best ones from any crawfish places I have been to. There were only about 3 pieces in each dish though. Compared to boiling crab, the sauce is different. I’m unsure how to explain it but it has more of a new orleans taste. It’s not bland and I did love it. Other special items they had were deep fried twinkles, steak, frog legs, and po boys sandwiches. As for service, I was impressed. They gave wonderful recommendations and were on top of things. My only complaint was the food took a little long to come out.

Short(this is how I felt before I got my food…) No line at 5pm but the restaurant was full except for one table in the back next to the TV… I’m sure THERE will be NO line after the Groupon special. I had to use it since it expires today so I had to go there straight from work. So I was by myself and they wanted to seat me at one of the four bar tables in the front. Weird… When I came the night before, they did not seat anyone there when the waiting list was 20 groups strong. The waitress gave me a bit of a ‘tude when I refused because she said tables in the back were reserved for large groups. Um… Both tables seat 4 and they are the same size! She eventually seated me in the back and took my order right away… Talking about fast service. I think they want to usher me out ASAP. I was a bit annoyed and almost furious so I started to write about how effed up the place is(see above)… Then I got my food in 10 minutes… SWEET!(the good… after I got my food) The couple that sat down the same time as me barely got their order in when my food came out. I literally got my food in10 minutes…1 lb of crawfish, 1 lb of shrimp, and half a dozen of oysters! All that in 10 minutes and the restaurant was a full house!!! This place was no Boiling Crab but I found it good in it’s own way. I didn’t walk out with my tongue burning or majorly dehydrated! The food was mildly seasoned and I liked it! The servers actually changed their tune immediately… maybe I wasn’t having it or they saw me Unilocaling. Who knows… but they were extra friendly and constantly asked how I was doing. I ended up walking away satisfied. 1 Star(before I got my food) + 4 star(after I got my food) = 2.5… rounding up to 3 stars.

Four Stars for Dang! Crabs Cajun Cuisine! I was back in the Garden Grove Area and needed to use my Groupon coupon, as it expires at the end of the month. My colleagues and I got here at 3:30 on a Thursday, and this place was pretty much wide open. Before dining here at Dang! Crabs, you have to realize that this is NOT like Boiling Crab or Spicy Crab or any other cajun place, so don’t even begin to compare it with other places. This place is unique in their food offering, so just enjoy it! I again ordered the 2 lbs of Cajun style fresh crawfish($ 9.99 /lb). I prepared myself, as I knew it was going to be prepared in a very unique way — TONS of butter, Asian(Thai/Vietnamese) style chili paste, and cajun seasoning. The crawfish was very fresh and the crawfish were cooked in the boil seasoning just right. The crawfish was served with 3 pieces of corn which were cooked in the butter cajun seasoning — it was spicy hot with tons of flavors. they also gave 4 generous pieces of(Russet) potatoes, and slices of an entire Cajun sausage. WOW! Grade: B+ My tablemates had the grilled chicken salad and the catfish po’boy. The grilled chicken salad looked really fresh and was served with generous pieces of chicken. Order the vinegarette, as it looked really yummy. My other tablemate ordered the catfish po’boy — which was a HUGE piece of catfish, battered and fried. Served on a white roll with tons of lettuce and tomatoes. She really enjoyed it! Service here is always OUTSTANDING! Our waitress Dianne(?? I’m forgetting your name) was super duper friendly and funny. She really made the dining experience such a great time! This place is clean, and the food is fun to eat! Recommended! Food Grade: B+ Service Grade: A! Overall Impression Grade: A-.

Dang! I really wanted to like this place because service was awesome! We came in since I purchased a Groupon because I absolutely LOVELOVELOVEEE cajun food. Our waitress was the sweetest thing and was very helpful and patient when it came to all the questions we asked. BUT too bad the food wasn’t great at all… When we arrived, there was only one table that was sat. Then a few more people came in shortly after. It was definitely a slow Tuesday night. I noticed that everyone that came in was because they either had a Groupon or certificate. This first thing we ordered was beer. Easy enough. There’s no way you can mess up on that one. They gave us complimentary shrimp chips as a small starter and some weren’t even cooked thoroughly! I ended up chewing on some extra hard, unfried pieces. STRIKEONE. Then it came to ordering. My boyfriend and I decided on getting a pound of shrimp, a dozen charbroiled oysters, gumbo, and a sweet tea to wash it all down with. First of all, shrimp is by market price??! We ended up having to pay $ 11.99/lb! I wish it was a set menu price like Boiling Crab and most other cajun spots. I was expecting the taste of their sauce and seasoning to be just as good, or better, for the price they were charging. NOPE. Not the case. The sauce was pure butter! Not much else… It was great that it came with sausage and corn, but I would rather get a bomb tasting meal than those little extras. STRIKETWO. The charbroiled oysters were a must-order because I read that it was their house specialty. Sad to say both of us weren’t a huge fan of them. Everything was overpowered by the parmesan and romano cheese they top them off with. I ended up dipping them in the shrimp’s butter sauce to bring out more flavor. Meh. STRIKETHREE! Besides all that, the rest of the meal was less than mediocre. I would not come back I’m sorry to say. I asked my boyfriend what was his favorite part of the meal? And he responded with«the corn.» It was pretty much corn smothered in butter, which anyone can make! That’s a bad sign right there. We felt horrible when it came to tipping too, since they use an application on iPad that only allows for a max tip of $ 3 if your check is under $ 10 in total. SAD! We loved our waitress, but didn’t have spare cash. If you’re craving for the bold, spicy flavor of the sha-bang sauce, then this place is definitely not for you!

They serve their seafood here a bit different from places like Boiling crab. They’re served on plastic plates(not in a bag) and all their servings come with 2pcs of corn and 2pcs of potatoes. It’s basically 1 full corn and 1 full potato cut up. It’s probably included in the weight but I’m ok with it. The shrimp was huge and plump $ 12.99/lb– we did the lemon pepper and cajun spice, spicy. The crawfish $ 7.99/lb was frozen so it wasn’t very good at all. But we were warned that is was frozen so it’s our fault for ordering it. The clams $ 14.99/lb were okay…2 shells did not open. I liked that their sauce has more of a clean, simple, kick to it than Boiling crab and all the other places. We chose spicy level for all our sauces. The sweet potato fries here are sooo delish! We had to order 1 order togo for our sister who missed out. It’s only $ 3! The jasmine rice we ordered were a bit cold, but decent. The grilled oysters came out pipping hot in a paper holder… They should really serve this before anything else… otherwise it tastes bland compared to your cajun seafood dishes. At the end they do a little magic trick with hot towels they give you. Me and my family enjoyed it alot. haha. The service was 5 stars! She was great, no complaints.

The place was a bit hard to find because it is in a shopping center, but we eventually found it. The service is terrific!!! Love that the chef comes out and makes you feel like family. The food is like the legit Louisiana food! We ordered one pound of Cajun shrimp and one pound of lemon herb shrimp. They were both delicious! And guess what it actually comes with two corn and four sausages! Yes! No extra charge! Then, we ordered fried calamari! And omg! These were cut so thick that it actually tasted really good instead of the original curled up calamari; however, it would have tasted better if it was more fried. The crawfish salad with vinaigrette was very good! No doubt about that! And you just have to taste the dirty rice! Wow! That was very good! Lastly, the beignets were mouth watering! They were thick and tasted terrific! The sweet tea is most definitely SWEET! So diabetics please don’t drink this, I kind of had to let the drink dilute itself before I drank it… I would definitely recommend coming here!

Recently tried out DG for the first time and was pretty impressed with this little place! Truthfully, I’d prolly give a 3.5 stars but rounded up on this one. I’ve been to the big cajun seafood places like BC before and was pleased to be able to walk into DG and not have to wait an hour yet have the food be equally delicious. The first thing they brought to our table was the shrimp chips. which were a pleasant treat! They were so yummy that we considered asking for more but decided to wait for our shrimp boils to arrive. I also appreciated that the food was brought out in a platter and not dumped on the table in bag. Just me. but seemed a smidgie more civil. We opted for the ‘all three’ sauce and it was quite delcious… I also loved that the potato and the corn were soaked in the sauce at well. Let’s just say not a drop was left on my platter when all was said and done. ;-) If there was any disappointments it was the fried green tomatoes and the beignets. The tomatoes themselves were fine but the cornmeal batter was not very tasty — somehow the seasoning/flavoring was off. The beignets were also a bit disappointing. Although the dough was tasty w/the powdered sugar they were very dense and not airy and light like true beignets. I’d almost be inclined to call them dough balls instead but they were still good. I do have say the service here was superior — friendly, super attentive and just all in all a 10. There was also lots of parking and it was easy to get to as well. I’d definitely check out DG but just skip the fried green tomatoes and think of the begneits as dough balls and you’ll be quiet happy. ;-)

I went on a Wednesday night around 7pm. The place was clean, the staff were friendly and we were seated immediately. If you like your food sitting in butter and lightly seasoned then this is the place for you. Its like a bland buttery mess. My friend had a coupon from so we ordered about 100 bucks worth of food. The food came out like one at a time. Good thing we ordered a lot to share, so it was perfect timing for us. 1. Charbroiled oyster– They were extremely hot(temperaturewise) Delicious. 2. Fried shrimp w/sweet potato fries– I love sweet potato fries so that was delicious. However the fried shrimp was very disappointing. It was very chewy. Frozen, or overcooked, not sure. My friend was like wow the calamari taste like shrimp and its very chewy. I was like umm. it is shrimp, we didn’t end up ordering the calamari. she said oh… 3. boiled shrimp. It was ok, buttery and lightly seasoned. 4. Boiled clams. Delicious. 5. 2 lbs lobster– 25 bucks per lbs. 50 bucks for a 2 lbs lobster, expensive considering it was just all shell. Once again, like pretty much everything else sitting in a puddle of butter and lightly seasoned on top. It was decorated with frozen corn and overcooked mushy potatoes. yum, right?

— Locale Destination — It’s on Harbor Blvd and Garden Grove Blvd in Garden Grove. It’s in a big shopping plaza, next to some sort of seafood restaurant. It’s sort of dingy like«Boiling Crab». Not so big establishment, there was a sort of bar like counter. Waiting time, as everyone said, was sooooooo long. Don’t go there if you were so hungry. It was kinda ridiculous. They got big TVs for games! Oh, you’ll use a iPad to pay with your credit card. I assume it’s convenient and faster — for you or/and them… I don’t know ;p You can add tips like $ 2 to $ 5 only on somehow… Get a cash for tips, ok? — Gluttony Expedition — Charbroiled oysters: They tasted good but it’s so tiny. It was really really tiny. Get a dozen — you need it. It was way too expensive for what it was. Sweet potato fries: Very pathetic. It was black and ewww… made me lose my appetite. Deep fried trout: Weak. It was lacked in flavors. Though it took a long time to cook, why did it lack in flavors??? No bueno. Shrimp: I hate craw fish. It doesn’t taste good and is usually way too salty. I always go shrimps because the shell prevents it from being too salty. The sauce was very very very greasy. Flavors were weak. No bueno. — Conqueror’s Deduction — I thought it was like a «Boiling Crab». Yeah, it was. But it got a lesser quality than those similar establishments. I don’t even like«Boiling Crab». I don’t understand the hypes at all. Too salty crappy foods at best for me. Eating craw fish?! It makes me think«I’m so poor and desperate for foods. Let’s get craw fish from the pond in the backyard…». It’s just me ;p Thank god, it was a Groupon deal. I won’t go back even with the deal.

My friend had a groupon and decided 2 all meet up 4 dinner. Walked in2 the resto and seated rt away. The place is tiny. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We order 2lbs of clams, 1lb of shrimp, ½ order of raw oyster, 1 full order of baked oyster, and cajun fries. The sauce wasn’t has potent as other cajun places, on the watery side. Instead of serving the seafood in bags they serve it on a red plate, ready 2 eat. The special of the day was FROGLEGS! Sorry Dang! like i said before Boiling Crab will always be my first love! SOOOMUCHBETTERTHANBOILINGCRAB. Potatoes, sausage and corn come with your seafood! You can order extra if you like but I think 2 of each comes with every pound. Found this place due to groupon and boy thank you groupon! No crazy lines, not super loud inside, your not back to back with anyone, its clean and uncluttered. We had a bit of everything. First started with the po boy Mikeys special(half $ 7) which was not worth eating really. Would have been better if the french bread had been toasted like at lee’s but it was a cold chewy baguette with a light amount of meat, tomato, and lettuce inside. Moving on to the raw oysters($ 8 for half a dzn) they were YUMMY fresh, flavorful and actually meaty never had that before. We then had 2 lbs of shrimp in the mild«all of it» sauce. HIGHLY recommended. I probably would ask that they go lighter on the butter next time but boy it was good. Make sure to scrape up some of the chunks of seasoning with some bread.mmm. The corn was a little overcooked the kernels fell right off of the cob when you bit into it. This greatly reduced the amount of unattractive corn stuck between my teeth but just in case they do have toothpicks. Oh we also tried the Cajun mayo as a dipping sauce and that helped to break up all the seafood flavors(2lbs of shrimp for 2 people is a lot of shrimp). Service was super and we had a great time actually being able to talk to each other without yelling or just nodding and pretending you heard what the other person said. And of course I loved that I didnt have to wait 45 mins for a table for food that was subpar.

Ambiance: Cute little joint with awesome music that makes the experience fun. It has several flat screen TVs for sports fans to watch their games while eating as well. Restrooms were also very clean and easy to access. Price: About $ 2 – 3 more than it’s competitor’s market prices. Service: Staff was very attentive, friendly, and quick. They deserved a big tip =) No rushing on ordering and offered to get us whatever we needed. One of the female servers also gave us extra utensil to help with the king crab legs. Towards the end of the meal, they surprised us with a really neat moist towelette trick(oops! the cat’s out of the bag!). Location: Lots of parking, located between a Seafood restaurant and Burlington’s Coat Factory. Food & drinks: ~Complimentary baguette bread with roasted garlic pieces ~Half dozen charboiled oysters($ 10) ~1lb king crab legs and 1lb shrimp(both with lemon pepper medium spice sauce; market price) They came in separate containers, each with two corns, 3 – 4 sausage pieces, and two red potatoes. The lemon pepper sauce was tasty, but we didn’t sense any«medium» heat… so we’ll try the next level of spiciness up next time. –Two alcoholic drinks: Dixie and a raspberry type of beer(forgot the name), but they were tasty and recommended by our server. Story: So I saw this deal on Groupon and am really glad I decided to get it because it came in handy for Mike’s early birthday dinner =) Groupon allows for up to $ 30 worth of food and up to $ 10 worth of drinks. Our bill ended up a little over because of the King Crab legs, but it’s okay. Even though this place is a bit more expensive than their competitor’s, the service was spectacular. We’d totally come back again to try different sauces and get more charbroiled oysters next time. They left a positive impression on us. Tip: ~Happy hour = half off order of oysters and discounted drinks! Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays only? Double check that with your server or by calling in before you go =)

I’m sad to take a star away, but the service has changed since the last time I came here. It could be that Joe wasn’t there, so service wasn’t quite as monitored. Now, I see what people who are giving this place negative reviews are talking about. I came in with my boyfriend to use a Groupon we’d purchased a while back. We promptly presented the Groupon and ordered 2 Purple Hazes, which were tasty and asked for a little moment to finalize our order. At that moment, we were one of the three tables occupied, and it did seem that they were overstaffed; however, we did not get much attention still. After a while we were able to get the attention of our server to order. The food didn’t take too long to come out, which was good(especially considering everyone’s horrific reviews about 1.5 hour waits for food to come out). We were also given bread + garlic spread before the food came out, and it was okay, but not as good as we had remembered. We also noticed the prices have increased drastically since the last time we were there(near the week of their opening). Food tasted good, but there were less potatoes, sausages, and corn compared to the last time I came and ordered the same amount of food. It seems they changed their potato option to one of each kind(yellow, russel, purple). We weren’t offered any of their sauce selections like last time either, so I took initiative in asking if we may have some lemons and containers to put the juice in. We also asked for a side of the«all of it» sauce. Those took quite a while to come out, but I think it’s because the waitress had to wait for the sauce to be prepared by the kitchen, so it’s not her fault. She didn’t offer to put the bib on for me and my bf like we were offered last time and at other crawfish places, so it seemed unusual. The other problem I had was that she asked how the food was within half a minute of placing it on our table before we even tasted it(all the shrimps were still in the bowl, so I’m not sure why she asked so early); it looked fine, so we said good. During this time, she also asked if we wanted a refill on the bread, but we said no. Honestly, we could have used a refill about ten minutes ago when we had finished it, but when the food’s already out, we don’t really care for more bread. I found that it was a bit unusual that she suddenly decided to ask if we’d want more bread and if food was good so quickly considering that everything else seemed a bit slow. Another thing that weirds me out is that we were her only table, so what was she doing those past ten minutes when she could have asked us if we wanted more bread? Another problem we had was that there were no paper towels on our table, and she never brought it to us even after about 10 minutes into our meal; we noticed all other tables had one, so my bf just grabbed one from the counter. Suddenly, we saw another couple come in which she greeted, smiled at, and even talked with for a minute! She didn’t even tell us her name! I don’t get why her service was so inconsistent with us, but I have a feeling it’s because of the Groupon. She even checked up on them before their food came out and gave them refills on their water, when here my boyfriend and I were with not a single refill on our empty glasses of water! At the end of the meal, we asked for bread pudding, but they were out(along with the crab). It was okay, so I decided to settle for the Café Au Lait; she corrected me on my pronunciation(pet peeve that wouldn’t have been so annoying had she smiled). The Café Au Lait was very bland and watered out. It wasn’t sweet at all and just tasted like milk with very watered out traces of coffee. In the end, we noticed another table had the wet paper towel presentation, but we didn’t! Last time we got one, but this time… we didn’t get one even though we gave her time to do it! We weren’t even given wet naps or anything! I guess we were just expected to clean our hands in the restroom instead. It was really annoying that the service was so drastically different from the previous time I had come and even compared to the other tables being served that same hour. It was really bizarre to me, but we ended up leaving a generous tip anyways because the meal was a really good deal(with the Groupon) and we were one of the two tables she had. +1 Star: tasty food +1 Star: good deal for Groupon($ 15 for 2 drinks and $ 30) +1 Star: good drinks –1 Star: inconsistent service –1 Star: inconsistent prices Tip: Present your Groupon after the meal is over and order a spicier level than you usually do(ie. medium if you’re used to mild).

Normally I would feel bad about giving a 1-star but Dang! Crabs really needs a wake up call. Came here on a Friday night at 6 and got seated immediately. There was a small table in the back near the entrance to the kitchen. The table was just enough for 2 plates but no more. Our server came to introduce herself and get our drink orders and we inquired about their«market price» for the night. Here the server mentioned they were out of: Shrimp Lobster Dungeness Crab Clams I came to their restaurant to eat the shrimp and clams so we decided to come back a different day when their full menu would be available. We took note that the shrimp was 8.99/lb & the crawfish was 11.99/lb. We left pretty disappointed and honestly, a bit surprised that a restaurant would run out of key menu items on a Friday night, particularly after they just sold 3000 groupons. We called them the next day at 5 p.m. to see if they had all of their items and the only things they didn’t have was the lobster & dungeness crab. So the bf and I hopped in the car and headed over there. We arrived about 6 p.m. and to our surprise the hostess said the wait was between 45 minutes to an hour for a table for 2. We opted to wait and took a leisure stroll down the shopping center & picked up from groceries at Albertsons and by the time we got back to the restaurant it seemed like all the parties ahead of us had left and we were next up. The seating capacity of this restaurant says 49, its a small restaurant. The entrance of the restaurant has 4 bar height round tables that can sit 4 people but are mainly meant as a bar setup but the hostess said that we could sit and dine there or we could wait another 30 minutes for a table. We opted to sit at the bar table. Our server came to greet us and get us drinks and we inquired about the«market price» of their menu. Crawfish 9.99/lb. Shrimp 12.99/lb hrm… what a drastic difference from yesterday! There is no way the value changed so much in a day. I pulled out my phone and sure enough, Boiling Crab has a fixed price at 8.99/lb for their shrimp. In any case we decided on 2 lbs of shrimp with the«All of it» seasoning and a dozen char-broiled oysters. Then we waited. After about 25 minutes the oysters came out. The oysters are char-broiled in the front for everyone to see and the cook piles on the butter and Parmesan cheese for a unique flavor that I haven’t had on an oyster. I think I prefer my oyster with less seasoning but it was good, it just overpowered the oyster. Had this been Iron Chef and the secret ingredient was oyster, they would have been docked for not playing up the secret ingredient. This was also when I finally got my first refill on my diet coke. I asked the lady to bring us some napkins and the condiment tray(ketchup, mustard, tabasco, etc…) 10 minutes passed with nothing so I got up and got it myself. Then we waited. Another 25 minutes pass… nothing. Our server did not approach us to let us know our food was coming. She didn’t come to check on us or refill my drink. No-one, not even the manager, came out to apologize for the long wait time. No explanation of why an hour has passed and there was still no sign of our meal coming to find our table when really shrimp cannot take longer than 20 minutes to serve — SHELLON! We glanced around at the other diners, the table behind us was a family of 4. They had put in their order before we sat at our table and yet they were still waiting for their food as well. Up until then, they had been served 1 dish so they all crowded around it and passed it around for everyone to have a taste. This was ridiculous. The bf and I thought about just getting up and leaving. What’s more, the line was out the door for people coming to dine here. We wanted to scream at them to tell them to run for the door because it was bound to be bumpy ride for them to eat there. Another 20 minutes pass before we finally get served. After all that wait, the shrimp was meh. It was literally boiled shrimp with seasoning on top. They weren’t swimming in sauce. It was simply boiled shrimp, tossed in melted butter and topped with some herbs. The shrimp, after peeled, had no flavor. It wasn’t super fresh so it didn’t have that natural sweetness fresh shrimp has. Now I will say that the sausage, corn and potatoes tasted good since I let it soak up as much sauce as possible. But this place, hands down, loses in flavor to Boiling Crab and the 100 other knock off joints that have sprouted up. Add in the lack of service and the wait time and I am certainly not coming back. Our check was quick to arrive before we even finished. We paid and got out of there as quick as possible. What boggles my mind is that the employees manage to look so busy running around the tiny restaurant when no-one is getting served food. I’m not sure why I wasn’t getting a refill every 10 minutes to keep customers feeling like they were being provided a service.

First and foremost, this is NOT similar to Boiling Crab, Kickin’ Crab, Rockin’ Crawfish, Cajun Corner, and the like. This is a New Orleans style restaurant that does not serve their food in clear plastic bags. I really love my seafood in a bag, but you can’t come in here expecting one of the above, because it’s not. It’s not worse, just different. CHARBROILEDOYSTERS Amazing. One of my favorite, if not my favorite dish here. Even my friend who hates oysters said that this was actually good. I got half a dozen, and they came out piping hot. The oysters were marinated in garlic and butter so they remind me of French escargot. They even gave us some sliced bread in the basket. CRAWFISHBOIL I was underwhelmed with the crawfish. I asked for more of the«all of it» sauce, and it helped, but overall, I think I like the shrimp in this kind of sauce much better than crawfish. The boil comes with sausages, potatoes, and corn. All three of these sides were amazing. The sausages were not too salty, the corn was juicy and well flavored from the sauce, and the potatoes were perfectly soft. The«all of it» sauce is not spicy even though we got the spicist level. SHRIMPBOIL I liked this boil much more than the crawfish. Although peeling shrimp is not my forte [why i prefer crawfish], I liked the taste of the shrimp much better. I still asked for salt/pepper/lime but overall, very good boil. Again, corn, potatoes, and sausages were amazing. HOTWINGS We got these because they told us they were out of shrimp, but then they were quite good and i’m glad we got them. The cajun fries are delicious. They use skinny fries, my favorite. The hot wings are quite flavorful and juicy. BEERS They have NOLA beers here. We tried Jazz and Dixie. I didn’t like Dixie very much, too much barley? But the Jazz is good.

I am not sure what everyone else is talking about when they give this place 4 – 5 stars. I am starting to doubt the credibility of Unilocal just a little bit. I came here on a Wednesday night with my Groupon in my hand, ready to go. But had to wait 20 minutes even though we were the first ones on the waiting list o_o Then, we had to sit and wait for our waiter, which took another 10 – 15 minutes. We finally got situated and waited around 10 – 15 minutes for our waters. I can go on and on, but this place has REALLYBADSERVICE — NIGHTMARESERVICE. The food is very mediocre and did not have any taste to it at all. We ordered the Charbroiled oysters and the 1 pound of shrimp with the beignets(which were very dry and not good). The Charbroiled oysters were honestly not the greatest thing in the world. There is something fundamentally wrong with this place

Much like how I’m a sucker for a sweet talker, I’m a sucker for a sweet deal. So when I came across this place on , I thought, why not? I love Cajun food. I did a little cross reference on Unilocal, just to make sure they weren’t some 1-star establishment. My eyes lit up when I saw 4-stars. Dang! Crabs is not your typical Cajun restaurant. It’s a lot smaller. Their décor isn’t pirate themed and they don’t do seafood bags. Instead they are all Louisiana authentic. Even their bathrooms are completely decked out in LSU gear! Instead of your cutesy pirate themed menu, every thing is pretty straight forward. No wholeshebang here. It’s just called«all of it»! The food was pretty incredible. One thing you must, MUST order when you go, are the charbroiled oysters. OMG! Too die for! Instantly I wished I had ordered a dozen instead of half. They were delicious! Words cannot describe. Luscious, is probably the first word to come to mind but even that doesn’t do them justice. My gf and I also ordered a pound of clams and shrimp. Not as saucy as I like, but they were delicious regardless. And with every pound you order you get 2 pieces of corn, potatoes and andouille sausage. But as stuffed as I was, I had to try their infamous bread pudding. And boy, it definitely lived up to all the hype. It was warm, light, fluffy, and creamy. So decadent that I couldn’t stop at 2 bites. Not even at 4! Being a new restaurant, there are some things that they’re still getting together but overall it was a great dining experience. The owner Joe was amazingly friendly. He even offered me milk when my mouth was on fire from a little too much tabasco on my raw oysters. Thanks Joe! Chad the GM was also super attentive as well. I can’t wait to go back and try more things. And I’m definitely getting a dozen of the charbroiled oysters next time. Delish!

Alright so this is the new crab joint in town. They still have a lot of kinks they need to work out but overall my experience was good. I’ll just start off by saying they definitely need to make the place look more welcoming. I came here around 630 and it looked like they were CLOSED. The drapes were down and there was no open sign. Even standing five feet from the entrance, the place still looked closed. Staff was friendly but when we sat, the aura was just awkward. the theme was like any other crab place, Louisiana style. There was no music playing so I asked the host, «What’s up with the music? There isn’t any.» After minutes of awkward silence, music came on and it felt a lil more chill. Getting to my experience with ordering, the waitress did not seem to know what she was doing. No recommendations on anything or had any enthusiasm. So me and the misses order a half dozen char-boiled oysters(fuckin bomb), a shrimp po boy(was good but pricey), and a pound of crawfish. The crawfish tasted eh, it was kinda plain. What I liked about the crawfish is that it came with potatoes, corn, and sausages. You didn’t have to pay extra for it. So the food was satisfying but here’s where my what the fuck came in. I asked for the check and the waitress did not give it to me until 15 minutes later. WTF? After ten minutes the waitress said I’m sorry I’ll get it right now, and took another 5 minutes. I’ve never had to wait that long after I asked for my check. Anyway, I wrote a long review for this place because it just opened and I wanted to let you guys know what to expect. Hopefully they work out some kinks with customer service and train their staff better. To sum it up, po boy sammich was good but way too pricey and it was really small considering I paid 9 bucks for it. Crawfish, mmm I’ve had better but I do like the sides it came with. The char-boiled oysters, you gotta try,
