I don’t Unilocal much because I’m super lazy but all my friends know I’m a foodie so… here I am. To be quite frank, it gets tiring typing out my personal opinion of the same location to a dozen people. Putting that aside, I’ll start this review I eat a lot of kbbq and am usually quite picky about where I eat because of that but I came here twice so far with the bf and loved it. *JUSTINISANAMAZINGSERVER, ASKFORHIM. Great personality and always on point with whatever your request is. The second time we actually came just for his service but he wasn’t working *tear tear* the server forgot our water 3x and we found it comical that we had to keep asking LOL. Hey, we all make mistakes and I’m in the food industry so I’m a lil forgiving. The selection is good and it includes Kimchi fried rice at the end and unlimited froyo. Who doesn’t love froyo, right?! Menu A is 20.99 and you get 4 premium cuts of meat on top of the basics(sirloin, tongue, cheek and boneless short rib) Menu B is all the basics like beef belly, brisket, pork belly(unmarinated and marinated), your selection of intestines and you can add seafood to each combo for $ 2.00 extra. I highly recommend you try this location if you haven’t yet and are a kbbq lover. Disclaimer that they don’t have ssam(lettuce) for you to wrap your samgyupsal but for all you die hard foodies, you can always request for plain salad and stuff it in your mouth as you put the meat with all your preferred accruments in at the same time. ^__^. Happy eating! And I’ll try to become an elite by the end of this year hahaha. PEACEOUT

I’ve been going here for years, but haven’t written a review. Star is one of the many kbbq places in Korean Town, but one of the better places! LOCATION: This place is pretty spacious and can accommodate larger parties, which is a plus. There is also a lounge area on the second floor, which is pretty cool. SERVICE: Hit or miss. Like most kbbq places, they are usually pretty packed and busy. For the service I had today, there were just opening, so service was fast and pretty good. I have had pretty slow service here sometimes. FOOD: I’ve tried most of the meats here, but I typically order pork belly, brisket, beef belly, bulgogi, etc. Portion size per order is pretty big, which I like because I don’t have to constantly keep ordering meat! Brisket sauce is good too. I also like how they have egg pot! The side dishes are good too, and they don’t skimp out when you ass for more! They have pineapple and apple soft serve and mochi for dessert too. Overall, price is average and food is good. I’ll continue coming back!

Solid food and solid service. Love how they clean your grill every time it gets too gunky! Meat isn’t the best best high quality but still good. Love their corn cheese! I also love how you get free yogurt at the end!

Two thumps up for Star Bbq! Took my friend out for his birthday on a Friday evening, it was a party of 3. When we got here it was around 6:30 pm, got a number and only waited 10 minutes to be seated. 2 options to choose from the AYCE dinner menu. Decided to just go with menu B which was $ 17, we only eat beef brisket and bulgogi anyways. Quality of meat was fresh and tasty, service was alright. Will be back for sure.

This place is mediocre the price is 17.99 for that price Bbq Night by long beach town center is much better. I won’t be back. Very few items on the menu. The fried rice is good though.

PROS: –takes rvations; accommodates for a party of 9 –no time limit; other places limit you to two hours –excellent quality meats, especially the galbi — steamed egg; not watery at all which usually freaks me out –tofu stew; perfect level of spice and a plus that they serve it in a little pot –splits cards aka NOT cash only –self served green apple and pineapple ice cream/yogurt –quick and friendly staff –clean bathrooms CONS: –it’s a bit of a hassle for them to clean our grill since they don’t do grill changes during our meal, but we only needed it done once so not a huge deal –menu A is significantly more expensive and only worth if you eat a substantial amount of the additional items on it that menu B doesn’t have –limited ice cream flavors compared to other places but at least they have some

This is the spot we go to when someone feels like eating AYCEKBBQ. Servers are fairly fast considering how damn busy they get. But, its worth it. Typical tiered price ranges. But the meats cuts are good(most the time). Oh that steamed egg! And the tofu soup! pretty good. I will always come here unless the cooks went on strike or a meteor strike ended our planet. (4 stars based on the side dishes, soup, egg… basically all dishes that required compiling with ingredients) (3.75 stars based on meat. Pretty good cuts. cause you cant F that up unless you give old, stale, or horrible cuts of meat.)

This place is always busy & their servers almost always do a great job. We had a party of 11 last night & our server Derek was so patient with us. He was constantly running from our table to the kitchen lol I almost felt bad because having 11 people telling him what they needed was a lot. & he did a GREAT job. He brought everything out fast & always had a smile. He was a little overwhelmed at first but he was so sweet & made our experience so pleasant. They have many flavors of soju to choose from. & they have a soft serve ice cream dispenser. Yum! Star upgraded their ice cream cups to bigger styrofoam cups now. Their quality of meat is good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but they get 5 star because of their service. We will be back!

A solid choice for AYCEKBBQ. The wait is not much of an issue at all. You can either sit outside with the nice, elegant lighting. Or, you can make yourself upstairs for some coffee or tea with plenty of seating available. So cool. There are two options to choose from: $ 17.99 and $ 20.99. We chose the $ 18 option, you get the basics. brisket, pork belly, intestines, regular and marinated chicken, pork ribs, corn, steamed egg and all the sides. They serve the meats in a large wooden box-like plate, very cool. The meats aren’t frozen and barely any fat at all. The seating I like very much too, the booths are huge and there’s many different sections. The drink specials are really good too. They have a buy 1 and get another for 1 cent on beers and soju. If you like to drink and meat, you must come here!

Fantastic AYCE Korean BBQ. We went for Plan B — which included pretty much any kind of pork belly, pork ribs, standard brisket bulgogi. And all the soups and sides! All inclusive of Tofu Soup, Soybean Soup, Steamed Egg, and Corn Cheese. Big eaters also went for the Fried Rice, which actually ended up SUPER oily because it cooked right on the grill. For all this, plus frozen yogurt for dessert(with mochi toppings!), and sake/beer, we ended up with $ 30. Not bad damage at all!

Mr BBQ in Fullerton gave me an hour wait time for two when it was an hour before they closed their kitchen. Why. By the time I’m seated — if I do get seated — I can only order one round at an AYCEKBBQ? No thanks, bruh! So I left and came here to Star BBQ. It was my first time and I probably won’t go back. For dinner on a weekday, you could choose between paying $ 17.99 for menu B or $ 20.98 for menu A. The difference is menu A gets you marinated beef ribs, bottom sirloin, boneless beef rib, and beef tongue. Get menu A. The best stuff they offer is the sirloin. The marinated beef ribs were good but the sauce got really sweet. The bulgogi was just ok. The worst thing I ordered was the beef tongue. It was probably my second or third round, and they gave me a huge plate of it! Plus, they were huge slices that I haven’t seen before. I was expecting maybe 5 – 6 small pieces like at other kbbq places. I ate a couple and couldn’t stomach the rest. The tofu soup was really salty; it almost tasted like cajun sauce at Boiling Crab. The steamed egg was not good either; I don’t know how you can mess that up. They have corn cheese, which I’ve only seen at Kang Hodong(but they’re not even AYCE) for a kbbq place. It is served in a foil bowl that you keep heated on the grill. It gets in the way sometimes. You can get soft serve ice cream(but it’s really icy) at the machine by the hostess. It’s where the restrooms are, too. At my visit, they only had chocolate flavor. But they had a bunch of toppings. I thought that was different from other AYCE kbbq joints. I saw mochi, cookie pieces, and popping boba. Since I got there late at night, they were clearly running out of toppings but didn’t bother to refill them. I don’t like the way they set up the grill. It’s a huge rectangular-shape that rungs along the table. They keep it at an angle so the oil slides down to one side into the drain at the bottom. They don’t fit the grill deep enough in it’s groove in the table, so you can get oil stains on yourself if you’re sitting in front of it. It got all over my sauces and side dishes because they were too close to the grill. I heard this place was popular, and I found out it’s so close to Cham. I think I’d better get to Mr BBQ earlier next time so I don’t have to settle.

Came here on a Saturday night right before the dinner rush so our party of 4 was seated right away. Their selection of meats were good, you have the standard selection like bulgogi, brisket etc. We opted for the $ 17 dollar ayce. They had plenty of sides and the meats were fresh. We also got a couple of soju mixes. Furthermore, the service was awesome they checked on us all the time and cleaned our grill when needed. Overall, I would go here again they have free ice cream too. I have 4 stars because Gen still has more meat selections.

Comparatively to other AYCE Korean BBQ joints in Garden Grove this place is pretty dope. Last time I came here was with my girlfriend Jayne for an early dinner on a weekday. I’m not a fan of Korean BBQ but was craving some cheese corn. I think when we arrived we waited for like a minute and was seated. Once seated and given their flavored corn water, salad, and small dishes, we went with their menu A($ 21 per person). We went for their bulgogi, brisket, and tongue. We also got some tofu soup, soybean soup, corn cheese, and steamed egg soup. All the meats were good. I love their tofu soup here more than other places. I like that their presentation of the meat tops other Korean BBQ places because it comes out nicely placed on a wooden tray. As for service, everyone working was extremely attentive, nice, and all our request were quickly made. Probably the best service out of any AYCEBBQ place. The inside is fairly large. I like that the tables are also large so you aren’t squished. Overall, a good alternative to your regular AYCE Korean BBQ place.

First time at Star BBQ(last Friday) and it was awesome. Heard a lot of great reviews and friends who raved about this kbbq place, so had to try and it was awesome!!! The wait wasn’t bad at all about 30 mins or so(on a Friday night), and you can go upstairs to grab a drink while you wait. You get a lot of different variety of meats and all tasted fresh! Recommend to anyone who is a kbbq lover and want a new place to try! :)

Oh hey Star, you’re still in the game! Slabs of stone are now used as the cooking surface, tilted to make it easy for cleaning. There are two options for AYCE, menu A or menu B. For a few dollars more, opt for menu B for more meat options. –beef brisket –beef belly –thinly sliced pork bely –large intestines –beef tongue –steamed egg Banchan here is good too, ask for radish(it isn’t brought out unless you ask), garlic, and marinated jalapeños(they’re marinated in the brisket sauce). They still have their self-serve yogurt machine as they always had, but now they have a cart with toppings too!

My friend gave up meat for Lent, so now that it’s over, it only made sense to catch up our meat. Lots of meat. Cham sut Gol was a bit of a disappointment and Gen is always insanely busy, so we opted to try Byul Daepo. We got there around 730 and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. They have a waiting lounge upstairs which I didn’t get to check out, but I thought it was a cool concept. When you’re seated, be warned that it is HOT and super smoky. The side dishes aren’t as plentiful as other places I’ve been to, but they were solid. An interesting side dish they had was a sweet pasta salad… most places use potato salad instead, but this side dish was pretty good. We opted for the pricier menu at $ 20.99, and I’m glad we did. For our first round of meat, they brought it out in a fancy box on a bed of lettuce. We tried the brisket, pork belly, bulgogi, beef ribs, and short ribs. My FAVORITE hands down was the short ribs. I honestly could come back and stuff myself with the short ribs alone. They offer frozen yogurt at the end of your meal. I’m not a big fan of fruity flavors so I wasn’t too fond of it. Oh, and the only thing that didn’t really sit well with me was the grill. I prefer just having a grill change but here they just scrape everything off so you watch this black, sludgy mess just pour to the bottom of the grill… Bleecccchhhhh

This place has always been my go-to KBBQ joint. Services can varies depending who your server is. Their meat quality are good but the only downside is they don’t really have any seafood, but overall a good place for ayce kbbq. If you like pork belly I would suggest trying their curry marinaded pork belly(SOGOOD). It does get a little pack during the weekends(average wait time is 45 minutes). They have the tendency to run out of side dishes toward closing time so just a side note if you ever do decide to come during the later hours on a busy day. Overall, I enjoy coming here for kbbq. P.S They updated their dessert bar, they now have toppings for their yogurts.

Came in on a Tuesday night for my dads birthday. We had a party of 5 and requested a booth so even though there were empty tables, we did have to wait a bit. We asked the host if they did anything for birthday and she said they play a song and give you a tumbler and some soju. I didn’t want them to play the super loud song and sing for my dad so we decided not to let our server know that we were celebrating his birthday. It took 5 minutes for us to be greeted and we were starving! Thank god there were side dishes on the table to keep our cranky side from emerging. We went with the $ 17.99 option which didn’t have a lot to choose from… Brisket, beef belly, small and large intestines, lots of different types of marinated chicken and marinated pork belly… Pork ribs, cheese corn, tofu soup, steamed egg. They charge $ 2 more for their seafood option which only included Cajun shrimp and squid I think. The $ 20.99 option had a lot more to choose from but we were mainly there for the brisket anyway. Our server eventually made his way to our table and was actually quite nice. We were sitting at the booth closest to the host stand, so it always took him a while to get to us since other tables managed to grab him first. Steamed egg was pretty standard, as well as side dishes. We had to ask for pickled radish because it wasn’t included in our side dishes. Rice is included in the price. The only two things I regret ordering are the pork rib meat and beef belly. The beef belly was super fatty. There was about 20% meat on it! We ended up cutting most of the fat off. The pork rib meat was tough and had a weird taste to it… No one at the table liked it. They have some buy one, get one for a penny beers and soju/sake. We ordered one kloud and one cass beer for $ 9. After the bill came, we got some frozen yogurt. They had peach and my favorite, pineapple. Guess what? They moved their machine so it’s not awkwardly right across from the host and door entrance. It’s now to the right of the bathrooms, and they have actual mini cups!!! I’d say they’re about 3−4oz cups compared to the teeny tiny cups that you’d find at in n out for ketchup or something. They also had a toppings bar right next to it with some boba, flavored boba and some cereal. Everything was pretty much gone by 9 pm so we didn’t try anything from the toppings bar. While we were enjoying our dessert, the host spoke to our server who then came up to us to apologize about not knowing that we were celebrating a birthday. It wasn’t his fault, but he felt bad and asked us if we wanted soju shots. We said sure, 2 would be fine. He ended up bringing a tumbler, and a bottle of champagne for us. It was very sweet of him to do so, especially since he didn’t have to.

The first time I visited Star, I had a pleasant time in terms of food and service. I enjoyed my brisket, Beef belly, Teriyaki chicken, and Tofu soup. Plus, the service was awesome because they were quick and was constantly cleaning our grill. The second time, however, was not as great as the first time. I was disappointed in the beef belly quality. They were literally frozen and stuck together, making it hard to pull apart. Maybe it was just a bad batch that night? The result of this frozen beef belly made it extremely chewy! The brisket was pretty chewy too. I did enjoy my Teriyaki chicken though! As far as service goes, it was average when compared to my first time. Maybe I expected a little too much but it’s okay, third times a charm if I visit this location again

I would say this is an ok KBBQ place for the money. You get your meat, you side dishes and the service was not bad. There was a bit of a wait but it was dinner time. The quality of meat was ok, and the selection is decent. You have your brisket, pork belly, etc. and then variations like garlic style, spicy and so on. So you have your options but meat-wise, it’s still a little limiting. I don’t think there was seafood on the meat menu. But I was able to get some steam egg(1 per person), and we ate quite a bit. Not bad, not excellent. It was sufficient.
