Looks like I’ve been hiding under a rock– I first heard of Villa Bakery this year! Today was the only time I’ve ever visited, so I’m judging based on paczki alone, though the Italian items looked good. When I called a few days ago to place my order, the woman on the phone kept cutting me off & was rude(whoever took order 200). I already had this in the back of my mind as my only impression when I came in this morning. I know Fat Tuesday is a crazy day for bakeries & expected to wait, but my patience was thin as I was in line. Only 7 or 8 people were in front of me at 7 a.m., so I thought I was in for a quicker trip than I imagined. I could see boxes labeled with order numbers, but somehow I ended up waiting close to 40 minutes. I don’t know if they couldn’t find our orders or what. At times, it seemed like no one was waiting on us. In short, preorders were extremely unorganized, & it would’ve worked out better time-wise for us to wait in the regular line! I don’t get it because the bakery was really pushing preorders. I also heard a woman ask her coworker if they were out of a certain kind or if they had one box left… Even on a busy day, they shouldn’t have had only one box left of anything 15 min after opening. Not sure if that worked itself out & they quickly made more or not, though. The women trying to hand out preorders(pink/gray camouflage hat) was really sweet. I really appreciated her smile & good nature even though I’m sure she was busy & tired. The cashier(black tank top) was also nice. That being said, the cannoli paczki is my new favorite. It was even better than I thought it would be! The others were standard bakery deliciousness, much better than grocery store paczki & not dry at all.

We started going to Villa bakery again for the Fresh Pizza Bread Wednesday Special and an occasional loaf of fresh baked bread. Villa Bakery has been here a long time and we got away from it when the Kids grew up and moved on, but now a batch of hungry Grandkids are being introduced to our, still favorite, pizza bread! Thanks, Villa, 3 stars and I’ll be back…

They have a sign that is out side that says fresh hot pizza rolls, so why at noon i come in and i have to take my pizza bread home to warm it up. I have been coming here for fifteen years and it has gone down hill. Take that sign down if your not willing to sell fresh hot pizza breads…

Since the older cashier retired, this place has gotten so much better! She was rude and stingy, and the new girl is sweet and welcoming! Food is great as always!

I’ve literally been going to Villa my entire life, sure they have other great things, but it’s all about the pizza bread. So amazing, so wonderful. The pizza breads are 4 of the 5 stars. I live 90 minutes away now, but on parental visits it’s always my first stop.

So as I’ve said before, this is the only deli I go to. At first this visit starts off with the deli slicing person handling the trash. She wipes her hands her apron and asks what she can do for me. I say she can wash her hands. Now, I always get my meats cut on a two, which is close to shaved. I order the same today. Get home and the meat is thicker than spaghetti noodles. So I call and am treated terribly by the owners daughter. She tells me she heard me picking the sizes of cuts. What she heard was me picking a different cheese size. I talk to the owner and after some back and forth he finally says bring it back and he’ll replace it. So when I do I hear the lady say bitch. No one apologizes. A different lady cuts the meat and scoffs at how I like it. She says if size is so important to me then I should watch them cut it. She also says I watched the cut of meat(I did not, I picked out my bread and tomato sauce). I tell her no, why would I lie. Bottom line, it was a mistake on their part. I’ve never been to a business that doesn’t fix the mistake and apologize. I will never go back which is a shame, I like supporting local small business. I would give them zero stars if I could.

I have only been going to Villa Bakery for about 6 years, as I didn’t grow up in the area. I’ve now moved out of Garden City, but work in Redford. So I stop in a couple times a month for the pizza breads and a Mtn Dew. Over the years I’ve turned many people on to their Pizza Breads at work, and also friends of mine that never had tried them. They have raised their prices, but $ 3.25 for a Regular, and $ 4.25 for a Deluxe is still a great price for the quality and size. I myself am not a big fan of the deluxe pizza bread, but know many others that love them. I’ve also picked up many of the Ubake pizzas, I get the pepperoni/cheese and doctor it up just a tad. Pop it in the oven for 20 – 25 min, and you’ve got a yourself and family a hot and fresh pizza. Villa bakery also has fresh baked breads and pastries, which can, and will hold their own to any bakery out there. If you live in the Garden city area, or find yourself in the area Tuesday-Saturday(Not open Sunday or Monday) you would be doing yourself a disservice by passing them by.

I have been going to this business for a long time. Their specialty is Pizza Bread. At one time, I would say it was the best but over the years they have used less ingredients and kept raising the prices. We still get the pizza rolls but also buy some extra lunch meat and cheese to add to it. Customer service is either excellent or it lacks. All depends on who waits on you. They also have a nice deli with good deli meats and sausages. And their bakery counter is impressive with all the offerings for your sweet tooth. Worth going to this place. It is.

Let me start by saying that this place has THEBESTPEPPERONIROLLSINTHEFRIGGINUNIVERSE. Ok. With that said, this place kicks ass. They have an awesome deli with every conceivable cold cut. Compound that with freshly baked bread, and you’re in sandwich heaven. Their meats are a little pricey, but you’re getting high end lunch meats. Not that Oscar Meyer garbage. It’s an old school deli that you just have to check out!

This is the Best Italian Bakery in the Metro Detroit Area, it has the best Pizza Bread… I love walking into the store, and taking a big deep breath, and letting the aroma fill my lungs… I always try to stop at Villa, when I am down in this area… They are closed Sunday & Monday, but that is the only times… They do run out of pizza bread late in the day, so don’t wait to get yours… lunch is the best. The Salami in the Deli is excellent, and they have the best Italian Bread around too… My Daughter loves the Cream Puffs, and the Sprinkle Cookies… The counter help is so friendly and helpful. Try this little gem out in the suburbs, it is worth the stop…

I am a little biased because I lived and worked in Garden City for many, many years and VIlla was a big part of most of those years. I live in a different Detroit suburb(Novi) now, but I ALWAYS stop and get a pizza bread if I am in GC for any reason. There is not really anything like it anywhere else. It is the only thing at Villa that is worth making a trip for, or at least making a special stop for. I have had some of their baked goods and I used to eat their pizza, but I don’t think that any of those things are special. Adequate, certainly. Not special. Except that pizza bread.

I finally found tasty-ish food in Garden City. One of my besties from school lives in GC so I end up there from time to time. She suggested this place and suckered my husband James in by mentioning pizza bread. Pizza anything means James will want to try it out. Villa is not a big place but seems very popular, I took it with a grain of salt though because it is Garden City. The focus seems to be bread, cookies and pastries with a small selection of deli meats and various jarred items, not a lot to pick from but enough. They have an asiago bread with onions and peppers that came recommended but I was not in the mood. I got some crusty nine grain that was very happy. James liked the pizza bread but I did not get the appeal, I am not much of a pizza-ish items person. I am picky. The doughnuts were nice, both the big jelly filled and the chocolate covered custard variety. My husband scowled at me as I took my bites. The cannoli was just ok, the chocolate chip blew the almond out of the water though. My father was pleased with the variety of cookies we brought him. He especially liked the apricot filled italian lemon, the various raspberries and the butter cookies. Service was friendly and helpful and it was fairly priced homemade. If I were in the neighborhood I would stop in but I would not make a special trip.
