Shout out to Justin over at Swatch who buffed out the scratched surface of my less than two month old watch! And all for free!
I had ordered my watch online, and have been wearing it every day. However, I’m an art teacher. And in my classes, we’re painting, developing in the dark room, and playing all day. Most recently, we are tie-​dying in my classes. A heck of a lot of fun, but über messy.
Part of this process requires dunking the garment to be dyed in soda ash (a dye fixer that allows the color to resist fading). It’s a powdery substance that gets mixed with water. Here I am, 7^th period, elbow deep in the stuff helping out the students. And… d’oh! I left my watch on. UGH! Underneath the face are tiny white specs. I don’t know if it happened while dying, or at some other Mandi Mayhem moment.
While in the area, my boy says to check out the store, his mom comes here for her Swatches and they fix ‘em up for free.
Lo and behold, my watch savior Justin to the rescue. He looked at the scratch and said pssssh! This is nothin’. A few minutes later, the watch was scratch free and he even managed to get many of the white soda ash specs out. The face is laser sealed on so he could only get so much — but what an improvement. The other store clerk, Jerry, was also super nice. Thanks guys!
