Very sweet ladies running this location, the two ladies at the cashier helped me out with some questions regarding furnature. One blonde lady I also kept busy and she ran back and forth from the back to her manager to me with answers and information. I KNOW it’s challenging to keep a thrift store organized, believe me, I’ve volunteered at several. But the state of the back of this store isn’t the best. Needs a cleaning/dusting and, again(thrift stores other than Goodwill are known for this), items need to be replaced and donated. As far as the treasures to be found here goes, I sighted some pretty decent housewares. This location is great, being right next to downtown Garden City.

I never expected to find the matching mustard floral chair that my grandfather died in back in ’81, but little did I know, avocado and mustard is this store’s specialty!

Big, spacious, super friendly staff. I know I’ve said in each of my Salvation Army reviews that the staff were great(which was true), but this place has EXTRAORDINARILY helpful staff. They helped me and others pinpoint exactly what we were looking for, explained the deals that we were eligible for in order to get the cheapest buys, and kept up with some friendly banter while helping to bag all my purchases. It’s not the biggest SA I’ve been to, but it’s one of the more spacious… not cluttered at all. I really like this one and would visit more often if it wasn’t so far out of my way.

This is the best Salvation Army I’ve ever been to. It may be the second best thrift I’ve ever been to(number one would be the Goodwill in East Harrison, New Jersey, where I found an Italian cashmere sweater for 50 cents). ANYway, this Salvation Army gets mad props for the organization of their clothing racks. They look like rainbows of color, organized by item type(t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc). They have a pretty extensive used book section and lots of strange little bric-à-brac items. Their furniture section is smaller than most thrifts I’ve been to, but they may have more stuff in the back out of view. Their clothing is really what shines here. There’s tons of stuff in a variety of sizes, ready-to-wear or only missing a few touches of DIY kitsch to make the perfect outfit.
