New location easy to get to. Helpful employees cheerfully told me where to deliver donation to the back of the building.

This Salvation Army is very clean and organized. You will find a lot of name brand cloths. I would give it five stars but, they recently started stapling their price tags to the cloths instead of using the usual method with the gun and plastic sting that hangs the price tag from the cloths. The stapling is damaging the cloths no matter how careful you are to remove the multiple staples.

So this Salvation Army has moved locations. It used to be right off Broadway and noticeable when driving by. It is now down 51st Street on the left if coming from Broadway. It’s in a beautiful building higher off the ground and wheelchair accessible. Major plus! :) FYI: If you go over the bridge you’ve gone too far. You’ll see what I mean when you’re in 51st street. Anyways on to the review. Upon entering this location we were greeted by the cashier. She was helping another customer but said hello to us anyway and let us know about the sales they were having. Two thumbs up!!! I ended up buying 3 books for the kiddos and a small table for the porch. Everything is in gentle or like new condition. Definitely worth a stop here if in Galveston or on your way out if you don’t live on the island.

They are currently in a temporary location which may have affected m visit. I go to thrift stores a lot including Salvation Army. This one was a disappointment after reading reviews. Donations were going in the same door as customers. There were several employees working in the cramped isles, moving around us no matter where we looked. Two employees asked us to excuse them(basically move) multiple times as we looked at clothes. It got to the point where I stopped looking at clothes and went to the back section where there are books, videos, furniture, frames & electronics. My daughter and I were looking in the video section and again an employee was right in the middle of it do we couldnt look at everything. Move over to the pictures, picked up a couple of gold frames and AGAIN an employee starts working the shelves. I’ve had enough at this point and head to the register. Of course with employees all over the place there is no one at the register. I had to wait for someone to get a clue. Maybe when their new place is ready I will try again.

Treasure hunters, this Salvation Army is worth a visit. No telling what you are going to find on any given day. And the price is right. Their inventory changes weekly. The GM Freddy is amazing. He is nicest guy you’re ever going to meet and truly values his work. I was looking for something very specific, which he didn’t have in the store at the time. But, he kept an eye out for me, and called me the minute he got one into the store. Wow! Here is a list of items they have: — Antique furniture — Gently used Furniture — Oil paintings — Mirrors — Cheap bedding and blankets(all previously dry-cleaned) — Books — Vintage Jewelry — Seasonal Items — Shoes/Purses — Housewares — Clothing(men/women/kids) — Electronics The Salvation Army is in short an evangelical Christian organization that devotes billions of dollars and thousands of volunteer hours each year to disaster relief, social services and other charitable causes. In our community of Galveston, they hold a Thanksgiving Meal for the homeless, an Angel Tree Gift Buying Drive for families during Christmas, and they also donate blankets and coats during the Winter months. Kudos to the Salvation Army, one of my favorite thrift stores on the Island.
