It’s not a must-go, but after a trip to the beach, if you are in the mood for some heat reliever, there’s nothing better than Rita’s Italian ice! I prefer my Italian ice without custards, so I just get the ice by itself. It’s like soft Popsicles. I really like the lemon flavor. The regular size, although doesn’t seem big, is enough to enjoy it.

Yummy and perfect for the warm ocean weather. We’re visiting from Houston on a day trip to Galveston. It’s my first time here but everytime my husband comes into town, he has to come to Rita’s for a cold treat. I’m sold and am looking forward to coming back!

Always good to get an Italian ice here after a hot sunny day(or a cold, windy day) at the beach! The servers were nice and patient even though we took a while to decide what we wanted. Don’t forget to check in for a free upgrade to a large which is really quite large! I usually get the one with ice on top and custard on the bottom(forget what it’s called). Share with a friend! Makes the Italian ice even sweeter!

First timer so tried a gelati with sugar free mango-peach ice with vanilla custard. Oh my, soooooo good. The frozen custard is so smooth and the ice is a great consistency. A free upgrade to large if you check-in with Unilocal saves you .75! Perfect location right on Seawall as you turn to go to 45. Great way to end a day at the beach! What’s not to love?

I love this place. If its May through August and your in Galveston down by the seawall and you don’t get a sweet treat from this place there is something wrong with you. Its really affordable they have outdoor seating that faces the water just do it. Plan and simple, just go, stop reading my review and enjoy. :)

I love Rita’s! I always go after a beach day when I’m in Galveston. My favorite is the mango gelati. It’s custard at the bottom, ice in the middle, and more custard swirled to the top. You can choose what custard flavor — vanilla or chocolate. I especially love sprinkling tajin seasoning. It goes perfectly with the mango ice. Remember to check in on Unilocal for a free size upgrade!

Great service and great ice. I love Rita’s and this location is great. One day they opened a little late but, the service ended up really good. The ice flavors change sometimes and keeps things interesting. I like that they offer a sugar free ice! My favorite thing is the Gelati. It has frozen custard and ice. Sometimes I do one flavor of ice and sometimes 2.

First time having a RItas Italian Ice with some custard. YUMMMM! We came early morning for a snack. The man had just opened the door. I have to say he was really nice. We enjoyed what we ordered. This location is just right across the street from the beach. Small hidden Gem. 1 star for facilties 1 star for service 1 star for Italian Ice 1 star over all. The roads a a little difficult. Getting into the parking lot from a different location was hard. If you are coming southbound on the beach road its easy but anywhere else its hard to make the turn in such a busy intersection.

There is nothing better than Rita’s after a day at the beach. It is our family tradition! The custard and most of the italian ices are gluten-free. They also have a sugar-free ice option for those that want/need it.(Sugar-free mango and sugar-free dragonfruit are my favorites!) The same gentleman is there every time we go, and he is awesome! During our last visit, he explained to me custard has a larger egg ratio than ice cream which leads to its creamier texture. Regardless, we love Rita’s. Can’t wait to go to the beach again so we can have Rita’s afterwards!

This place was good for what it was. It’s like a sno come but it’s ice. It was nice after a long hot day but hard to wrap my head around eating a cookies and cream icee like product. I guess this place just wasn’t for me, not because it wasn’t good just because I’m picky.

2nd visit and it was even better this time. I tried a Gelati which had orange cream custard on the bottom, strawberry ice in the middle, and orange cream custard on top. It was a generous portion for a regular size yet I was able to finish it off. The ice is somehow smoother than anything you’ve had before and the thickness of the custard was delicious. It’s hard for me to fully describe so just heard there now. I highly recommend.

Deliciousness! A Gelati is great if you are a fan of dreamsicles. The Italian Ice is soo refreshing. Custard is very creamy better then regular in cream. We will make regular stops when we come down from Houston!

This place was great! It’s so different then your average snow cone/icee or ice cream parlor, especially on a hot summer day! The area to this location is packed. It’s across the street from the sea wall and there are a ton of tourist flooding the area, so it can be hard to miss… but make sure you map it and find it! I got the half custard and half coconut icee mixture. It was excellent! If you like piña coladas(insert catchy tune here) then this is the one to try! It’s sweet and creamy goodness! I also tried the mango icee, it was pretty good too if you are in the mood for something tropical!

I bookmarked this place long before coming down here. I am so glad I went to it. The Icee was so good. Excellent sweet treat after a long day on the beach. I had a cotton candy and my daughter got a Dr Pepper. Dr Pepper was mad sweet so I would suggest trying something else. Cotton candy was excellent. They will give you taste tests and the coconut was excellent as well. I wanna keep going here and try all kinds of combos. Did taste test the custard as well. Staff is super friendly and very patient in explaining the menu to new people. You can get a layered one where is custard, icee then custard. I am a fan now for sure.

Great refreshing dessert place. If you bring it with you to the fishing pier across the street, they let you go in free. If you buy something at the pier, you get 10% off at Rita’s. Good to see them helping each other.

Friendly staff. Quick service, despite my inability to decide from the millions of combination possibilities! Wish they were open a bit later, but it’s not too difficult to get there by closing at 8. «Ice» part had a slushie/ice cream hybrid texture. Custard was creamy and smooth. Gluten free options available.

Huge Rita’s fan — love the cotton candy, and can’t go there without getting custard! If you go, order a mix of custard and water ice. The milkshakes are sub-par, and obviously not their specialty. Wish there were more of these around Texas!

Neat place with the mix of frozen custard and ice. The combo sounds delicious! Wish they had a more extensive variety of frozen custards. Only 3 – 4 flavors. Ordered some for the kids and it was very good. Rich, smooth, and creamy.
