Not gay friendly. The front desk demands lots of Information and identity info like physical copies of drivers license. Guess you cant expect much for the price buy there are better places in Galveston so this would be my 3rd choice. Parking is terrible. Seems like a rough neighborhood. Rooms are OK.

This place should be condemned. Tiles are falling off the bathroom walls. The air conditioners are leaky. There was sand in our bed. The furniture seemed to be salvaged from some weird office. It smelled horrible. And it was 150 a night. We left after 3 hours. Do yourself a favor and shell out the extra money and stay at la Quinta.

Well where do I start? Owners are very friendly but that’s where it stops. They are trying to improve this old relic but it’s obvious they do not have the funds or means to do this. Any hotel that has a bared plexiglass shield in front office is your first clue second clue is the rubbers for sale behind the shield. This is or looks as they have four hour rentals why??? They should charge no more than 75.00 a night but have seen them go as high as 172.00 for what a old run down brothel. If you have kids do not stay here or swim in the toilet(pool). So they painted a small handful of rooms put a new tv in it a bed and call this remodeling which they are doing. They are also the maid service which all that is done is change sheets refresh towels and that’s ALL! This American Dream has long past its hay day and needs to be torn down to make room for something else. Only reason for two stars where the owners. I am a local and have stayed in just about every hotel on this island expect for this places competition which is the Surf Hotel even worse if that’s possible! So save your hard earned money and just say NO!

You really can’t expect a lot. The place is super old and not in a great area. The guys at the front were friendly. The parking is awful, the room was somewhat clean(we did find a condom and trash in a drawer) but the odor was unbearable. Something like mildew and it just gave me a headache. I can deal with old hotels with no amenities but the location just doesn’t make it worth it. Unfortunately it was the only place that would take a reservation for one night.

Omg, where do I start. My friend and I came to Galveston from Houston just to get away for a day. After being out all night, we found the Pearl Inn on Unilocal. It had 2 good reviews so we called to ask about vacancies and pricing. It was cheaper than we expected it to be located on Seawall AND have good ratings. My friend and I decided to go there and get a room for the night. Upon arrival while speaking with the front desk, a guy came up to us inside of the place asking if we wanted to purchase cologne or perfume. After I told him we weren’t interested, he began talking about Obama and gay marriage randomly. I was highly surprised the front desk guy didn’t tell him to leave and get off of the property with his solicitations. We finally received the key and left the random guy standing there. We drove around to the parking area which started to look more and more suspicious. We walked to the room around a dim lit corner and first passed our room because it was so dark and we couldn’t see the room number written in the door lightly with what seemed to be a magic erasable marker. We walked in the door and we’re immediately hit with the foul odor of mildew and mold. We pulled back the covers to check for bed bugs. …no bed bugs, but there were brownish spots on the sheets! My friend then noticed a random door towards the back. He opened it and it led to some dark alley/hallway with zero lights on! He hurried up and closed the door and looked at me surprised. The last thing we did before leaving was look at the bathroom which did not do a good job in persuading us to stay. We retrieved our belongings and drove around back to the office. We simply asked for a refund and told the guy the room was dirty and we did not feel safe staying there. He points to there sign saying«no refunds» and tried to make us believe the place was safe. I told him that he can tell us however many times he wants that the place is fine and try to give us a different room, but the fact is, WEDIDN’T FEELSAFE! After going back and forth with this guy, we finally gave the keys back and walked to the car. We called the bank and informed them of the situation. They told us the charge was still pending but afterwards, they would refund us the money if we were not happy with the service and gave us the number to call directly to have it done. In one last attempt to give the Pearl Inn a chance to correct the situation, we returned to the front desk asking for a refund. The guy says the manager told him that we can not have a refund unless we had a valid reason. …I have no idea what’s more valid than«The place is dirty and we don’t feel safe.» I ask to speak to the manager and he agreed. Knocking on a door in the office, this lady(who just had to be this guy’s mom or relative) wakes up from her slumber, trudging out of the dark room in her pajamas. I explain to her the situation and she begins to repeat the same nonsense that seemed to be well rehearsed. I inform them both, we have already called the bank and they are able to refund us the charges if they do not do so. The manager shrugged and I just said«ok» and we walked out being fed up with the Pearl Inn and its customer service. Unless places that are in every way similar to a «Crack House» excite you, I would highly suggest you stir clear of this place. I do not know why we even believed those TWO good reviews of the place. We were not satisfied at all and you probably won’t be either. At least ask to see the room before you make the purchase if you DO decide this review is full of fluff and go there anyway. Be careful guys. Your safety is more important than price and convenience!

Very basic room, sheets and bedding are old, there’s two flat pillows to sleep with. I think there was old blood splatter on the wall and the shower is made for really short people. The towels are stained with weird yellow colored spots so bring your own. And the pool is closed even though it’s the summer. Other than that it wasn’t too bad.

VERY budget friendly. The mattress was nice and firm and NEW!!! Did not see any prostitutes or drug-addled people loitering on or around the property. Very quiet the night we were here(a Sunday during the busy season). Close to beach and a couple local bars and restaurants.
