Nails By A and J

I’m not familiar with any nail salons in the Galveston area, and I needed to find one, so I turned to Unilocal.I came to this salon because I saw all good reviews… what a disappointment! Either other people have really low standards, or I came on a really bad day.
To start, they only have two employees. Fortunately I was the first person to walk in, so I was seen immediately, and then another girl came in shortly after. Then two other ladies came in, and they waited in a pedicure chair with their feet in the water the whole time I was getting my pedicure. Then another woman came in who had an appointment, so the other two ladies were still waiting when I left. In addition to four or five other people who came in and left after hearing how long the wait would be. You can’t operate a nail salon with only two employees. I even asked the girl if they were short staffed, or busier than usual, and she said no, that’s just how it is.
So let’s review my actual nails. The girl who gave me my pedicure and manicure was VERY nice. But she couldn’t figure out how to shape my nails (square with rounded sides — been getting them shaped that way for YEARS at many different salons, never had a problem with anyone not understanding what I was asking for). She only put one coat of polish on my finger nails, and my toes looked like a 1^st grader painted them. I don’t know if she was feeling pressured from so many people coming in, or if she was just that bad, but I was really disappointed after seeing all the other good reviews.
I did find out that the girl who worked on my nails only works on weekends… maybe all the other reviews were from people who went during the week. Either way, I’ll try another salon next time.

Stopped in while visiting Galveston for a conference. Was immediately attended. $ 35 for a pedicure is totally worth it especially if your feet look like mine. My heels were really rough, but looked great afterward.

Kim did my feet & nails while Linda worked on my BF. They did a great job, we only waited 5 minutes as we were walk-​ins. Very reasonably priced & very professional. Best on the Island for Manicures & Pedicures!

I would definitely recommend this nail salon. The staff is friendly and efficient and I was very pleased with my spa pedicure. The gentleman who trimmed my nails was extremely gentle and efficient and concerned about my concerns with thick nails. My polish job was flawless.

My wife and I had a wonderful afternoon at this spa. Great service and conversation. Kim did a great job on my nails and legs. I highly recommend

They were good, a little on the brisk side, but nice. I felt throughly pampered as long as I didn’t try to interact with them too much. I’m not sure if it is because of the language barrier (which I can forgive 100%) or just personalities. Either way, not enough to make me not go back. I got a manicure and spa pedicure for $ 35 and was in the chair for an hour. The massage on my hands and feet lasted for quite a long time and felt good on my sore muscles.
The reason I’m giving 4 stars and not 5 is because, while the hours say 930−7pm, they did not arrive until 940 and wasn’t ready for business until 950. Disappointed in that they didn’t honor their own hours.

This was a great find. I was in Galveston on vacation and arrived as a walk-​in. I was greeted with warmth and professionalism and my personalized service was reasonably priced. I would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE!!! I needed an eyebrow wax and this place was near my house so I decided to give it a chance. When I got there the lady asked me what I needed so I told her. She then responded in a very LOUD and RUDE tone «come back one hour very busy.» I don’t usually mind waiting but one hour seemed a bit too much considering I only needed a quick eyebrow wax AND she only had TWO clients that she wasn’t even working on. I’m never going there ever again !!

This is a great place to get a manicure and pedicure. There are only 2 ladies that work here, but they are really nice. The take appointments and walk-​ins are also welcome. I usually just walk-​in, but sometimes I have to wait. which is not that big of a deal to me. They have reasonable prices as well. A pedicure is $ 25 and a regular manicure is $ 10. I don’t know about tips or french manicure, but I am sure that is a little more.
