Guideaux’s Bayside Grill

Closed. :-(. New restaurant «ocean grill and pizza» already working on the same space. :-)

I wrote an honest review of our experience at this establishment. They responded to my review, saying «go somewhere else». Don’t worry Guideaux’s, Your response was consistent with your service and attitude. I definitely will be going else where every time I vacation there, and hopefully I can prevent others from suffering through the experience of your «Hospitality». Thanks for the tip.

I give Guideaux’s five stars for their great food and friendly service in a town that has very little dining options.
We have been going there since they opened and the food is consistently good quality and always delicious. As someone who originates from Philadelphia I have to say they make the closest thing to an authentic Philly Cheese steak that I have had since I moved south 15 years ago.
The owners work hard to ensure their guests are happy, although you should expect a wait in summer time simply due to the popularity of this place and the large crowds that time of year.
The wings and pizza are also some of the best I have had in Texas and I would strongly suggest experimenting with the «Kelly fries». This is hands down some of the best food in Crystal Beach…

I really wanted to give top review after my last visit which was good when I went during the Summer. I was there in May and went for an evening meal. Asked for their best recommendation and two men at the counter told me the hamburgers. I had expected something different, but I went with the recommendation and was not impressed. The hamburger was small, average tasting, even overly salted and I like salt. When the lady was bringing out my meal she set the basket with fries on the counter where you pay and accidentally dumped the fries across the counter. To my amazement she scooped them back up while looking at me with a smile and served them at my table. I immediately told her that I wouldn’t eat the fries because they had been where every customers puts their hands and money. YUCK! She brought new ones but I was so taken aback that she gave them to me that I was nauseous thinking what happens in that kitchen when no one is looking. I will give them another chance on another vacation.

As we’ve been spending more time down in Crystal Beach, and it’s the off season, we were concerned we wouldn’t have many options for good food and would have to take the ferry into Galveston. Thankfully, that hasn’t been necessary. Although the off season does lack much in the way of open eating establishments, between Stingaree and Guideax’s, I think I’m set for the most part!
Everything we’ve tried so far here has been great. They make great sandwhiches — even make their own homemade potato chips! The pizza is really, really good and worth the wait. Everything is clearly made fresh. Onion rings are great and they just started serving beer. Prices are low, too, so it’s more than worth every cent. Simple, no-​frills environment, but then again, you are at the beach…
