One of my favorite places to eat! Huge portions of food and very affordable. Also the discount when you pay cash is very convenient! I always order the teriyaki chicken and it comes with rice macaroni salad and a little cabbage salad. All of which are mouth watering. Can’t wait to be back! Also employees are always very kind and inviting.

Staff is always nice and helpful. Food is always fresh and hot. Occasionally the BBQ beef has quite a bit of fat. Otherwise always delicious. The macaroni salad is to die for! Highly recommend this place. Plus they offer sweet tea!

I really like their teriyaki chicken! It’s better than L&L for sure! I would give them 5 stars, but they don’t pick up their phone when I try to call in an order most of the time.

Good food. I’m always here. BBQ beef tends to have a lot of fat. Staff needs to be more happy and energetic. They look«dead» every time I come here.

Been driving by this place for a while, finally was able to try it today, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the bbq chicken. It was tasty and moist, very well cooked. I have never had Hawaiian bbq before, so this was new for me. Sides were fresh and tasty, restaurant seemed clean. Good portion size for the money. This place is definitely going in my lunch rotation.

I dont feel im an unfair critic of food or restaurants. I’m definitely not on Unilocal to slam restaurants. I just love good food and I believe that reviews are very helpful for people to distinguish what they are looking for. I’m surprised that this place almost has 5 stars. I was not impressed. The majority of the chicken fish and shrimp were dry. I would never make it a point to go back. If you do decide to eat here, I definitely recommend the pulled pork was the best item and the koala bear chicken had good flavor and was not too dry. Not the worst but definitely not the best

My husband and I knew of this place but were hesitant to try it. We weren’t sure how good a little hole in the wall place could be. One day we tried it and we were blown away. My husband and 7 year old daughter LOVED it. So much that we went back again the next night. The koala chicken is our favorite. Our daughter liked the oatmeal shrimp. Super fresh tasting and a great bargain!

Hawaiian bbq restaurants are a dime a dozen. Koala falls into the same category. All I can say is «spam masubi… NOT» this is rice masubi with a paper thin slice of spam. Very disappointing. Give Galt what it deserves. I will not support thus restaurant. There are Hawaiian restaurants in Lodi and Elk Grove. Koala, thanks for being cheap on a cheap dish!

Ok… who knew Galt could have a pretty good Hawaiian restaurant for a reasonable price too! I ordered the 3 item combo with oatmeal fish, oatmeal shrimp and koalabear chicken. The plate included macaroni and coleslaw salad and rice. I actually liked the oatmeal breading on the fish and shrimp. It gave these pieces a great crunch and different taste from regular breading. The breading didn’t actually taste sweet or anything, so it didn’t mask the flavor of the fish and shrimp. The chicken was actually tender and cooked right. There was a slight East Indian/curry flavoring on this chicken, but it didn’t overpower the whole dish. I did appreciate the sauce bar because I dipped the chicken in the katsu and teriyaki sauce for added flavor. The macaroni salad was actually pretty good with added flakes of tuna fish. I would probably ask for double helpings of this over the coleslaw salad if I came back. The coleslaw salad had a good peanut flavor but was so watery that I didn’t like it. I wish the rice was a little more tender and sticky. Being Asian, I am picky on my white rice and I felt like the rice was still undercooked in some parts. I will probably be back to try other items on the menu!

Had nothing but compliments on the food we ordered for family get together. My family are a bunch of hungry opinionated people so I was a little worried about getting food from here since I never tried it before. I took a chance, it paid off. I called 3 days prior to place the catering order. The employee confirmed I ordered enough food and took a 50% deposit over the phone. I ordered medium size of the following; BBQ beef, teriyaki chicken, white rice, Mac salad and green salad total was $ 210 after tax. The order was ready at the time we agreed on. The employee that took care of me was nice and helped me take the food to the car. The food was very good and fresh. The teriyaki sauce and salad dressing was given on the side. I did find a quarter size bone in the chicken. Thank goodness it was on my plate and not on a kids or someone else’s. Minus a star. It was plenty of food for 30 people and 5 kiddos. We had some left overs too. My mom and brother live nearby and are hooked.

Don’t expect any thing great from this place. Chicken was below average. Shrimp was ok. Rice was way below average. And if your going to bring food out to the table for people you should do it for every person! Never returning to this place.

Service here was good. As for the food it was pretty mediocre. I got the chicken katsu and it came with rice, salad, and macaroni salad. The chicken katsu was a little dry and bland. As for the sides, they were just average.

This place reminds me of L&L Hawaiian BBQ, however, the food isn’t as tasty. I got the chicken Katsu plate and it came out slightly overcooked. The breeding was too hard and crispy it made the roof of my mouth hurt. I got a spam musubi as well and that tasted alright. The teriyaki sauce needed some work since it was slightly too sweet/bland. I haven’t tried other plates on their menu and this review is simply for the Katsu plate. The atmosphere of the restaurant and logo is extremely cute though and they had little bumper stickers for your cars. Will update my review if I ever stop by again to try other items on their menu.

Today was our first time here. Small little place, but very updated and clean. The young lady helped us by explaining their menu. We both ordered the Katsu chicken. Crispy and very tasty. We shared one side order of the spam masubi. Very good. I have to say that this place is very affordable with nice portions. The employees were very nice. Checked up on us, too. We even ordered a to~go order to share with a friend. We will be back to try out more entrees. Oooooh… they have a reward for the loyal customers, too.
