Great service the staff is very attentive, the pints are ice cold, and the food very reasonably priced and tasty. We had a wide range of choices made; burgers, wings, salads, pot pie, chicken bites w/rice, and lots of pints, no one had anything but great things to say about the food service.

Honestly, this place is an absolute dime. My party ordered two lots of wings, roast beef sandwich, and shepherds pie and I can honestly say the food was spot on. The wings were some of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was perfect and the staff were extremely welcoming. I would definitely recommend visiting this place if you get the chance. I can’t wrap my head around how this place could receive a bad review. Thank you and Happy St. Patrick’s day to the Mcgettigan’s!

The waitress was pretty awesome however I can’t say the same for the food. My friend had to return his steak and not even then could they get it right. It was raw(barf) I would definitely recommend this place for drinks but that’s pretty much it. We had good customer service.

My husband and I have a timeshare across the street at the Fairway Villas, so McGettigan’s is VERY convenient. I am frequently at Smithville for craft fairs, so I find it easy to roll across the street to this place when I am absolutely exhausted. I went there this past Saturday night, Oct. 4th, and was really looking forward to it. The three things that deserve 3 stars were the bartender(I think he had 10 hands and roller skates considering how fast and well he handled the bar) and the waitress was very good. The Guiness onion soup was amazing! That’s it for the pros. The Irish nachos were actually good too, but they weren’t supposed to be the main part of my meal… just a guilty pleasure at the end of a long day. I ordered their Buffalo chicken strips, and what I got was GROSS! They seemed to have been tempura battered and were deep fried ’til they were DARK brown, and incredibly greasy! I took one bite and stopped there. I nibbled a couple of pieces of the meager serving of carrot and celery sticks on the plate, and asked for a box to take it with me. I had intended to scrape off all that crappy batter the next day and just warm up the meat. If you hadn’t read the menu, you wouldn’t have been able to tell that they were supposed to have SOME spicy flavor, because all you could taste was grease! The next morning, I just decided to throw the mess in the garbage. I had ordered a spinach salad(to go), intending to eat it while I was conducting business at Oktoberfest, the next day. When I opened the container(when I was starving) and, again, looking forward for something good to have come from a less than stellar experience, food-wise, the night before, I found that they had completely left the goat cheese off the salad!(I LOVE goat cheese!) I called the restaurant to see if I had misread the menu, but I hadn’t. The cheese was supposed to have been there. So, now when I return to the area, I’m afraid that McGettigan’s will not be my «go to «place, because food was always a REWARD at the end of a long, hard day, and they blew it this time! I will go to Gourmet or Fred and Ethel’s instead. Sad.

McGettigan’s 19th Hole Small Pub off the Bay Course at Seaview has been there a long time. Typical golfers bar with sandwiches, cold beer, tv’s burgers etc. Just 3 for lunch today as Alex took care of us. Variety of specials and prices are very reasonable. Burger was a bit dry and not quite sure the bun used was as it sort of looked like some bagel bread. Bottom line burger has seen better days. Chicken salad not sure if they make it on premise but some of the best I’ve ever had. Comes with bag of potato chips fries $ 2.00 extra Special of soup(Potato) and sandwich of the day pork roll egg and cheese was fine and the soup was excellent. As taverns go this one is fine… loved the chicken salad, could do without the burger but other items looked good as well.

Ok so we arrive around 6pm on Sunday, just yesterday. A party of 8. We are seated at a booth table and a table close but not attached and we are instructed to not join them together to make one long table. So we didn’t. The waitress, Melissa, has one other table. A 4 topper. A total of 12 guest at this point. We order drinks, check the menu, order our food. All is well. As I mentioned there is 8 of us. 5 of us order a order of fries, corned beef sandwich, chicken fingers x2, chicken sandwich, a liverwurst. Another prime rib meal and lastly, Chicken Parm. Pretty simple order. However this waitress brings our meals out one at a time for a total of 24 minutes, When asked about the chicken sandwich that we are all standing on ceremony waiting for so we can eat.(We wait for everyone to be served to eat in my family), My daughter asks the waitress Melissa about my fathers meal and the answer destroyed any possibility of us returning. Melissa responds with a very rude, «It will be out like I told you in a few minutes.» Now this might not seem ignorant to some but considering that 4 people at that table are Chef’s and one works the front room of a high end steak house. You don’t serve the food until the food is ready for everyone. Not one meal at a time for over 20 minutes. If the cook cannot handle 8 plates then why are they the cook? If the waitress cannot serve 8 plates then why have her working there? Now this isn’t bad enough, but this waitress knows she is getting a 20% tip for her 4% service because we are a party of 8 and its a requirement of this place. So she had no problem over talking to the bartender, hanging at the bar with customers and not meeting her table guest needs. After being called over to get boxes, even that was one at a time and was another 10 minutes. Here is the biggest issue, My parents live up the street and are very predominate in the area, and after going there and getting a bill for 151.84 which includes a 23.94 dollar tip that this waitress far from earned, we wont be going back ever. I would rather spend 200.00 and get good service because this was probably the worst and anyone that goes there should ask for a waitress that is better than Melissa will ever be.

Family owned and run, seriously from Ireland. Play a game of golf and get some real Irish food. You can’t go wrong! I got the Shepards pie and a Stella, and it was done right. My buddy ordered a sandwich(custom made) and both where great. Get on it and get some great grub. Talk some banter at the bar with a relative

Only drank here, drinks were good and reasonable. Food I heard is good, haven’t tried it. This place is inexpensive and has a divey bar feel, which may turn off some people. I liked it. It is a good stop-off if you are at Seaview and want a cheaper meal. Don’t expect them to be the most polite, kindest folks in the world, this isn’t the place for that. It is a family establishment for 50 years and they have seen it all. I would recommend paying in cash — speeds everything up. This is a divey bar and you should know what you’re getting. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but it is what it is.

I’m staying at the Seaview for a week and walked over to the 19th hole for some food and a beer. When you walk in it seems like a good little sports bar. Then you sit down at the bar and that’s where the experience goes down hill. The bartender is an a-hole. I waited 10 minutes before he even acknowledged me and it’s not a very busy place. The ordering process is weird you have 2 bills one with the bartender and one with the waitress who wanders over to take your food order, then when you do want to pay and can get the bartenders attention you have to settle 2 separate checks. The food was decent bar food nothing special. I won’t go back, and If you ever stayed at the Seaview you know there’s not to many other choices in walking distance!

I have never been so insulted at an establishment in my life. It’s funny, because boyfriend and I had been discussing that day how we typically hit up the same local spots over and over again for drinks, and haven’t really tried anywhere new in a while. «Why do we do that?» I asked him. «How about McGettigan’s?» he asked me. We both excitedly agreed this would be a cool place to check out for a celebratory drink(I just got hired for my first big girl job!) Since neither of us have been here before, we weren’t really sure what to expect. The building itself is pretty cool looking, inside and out. It looks like a big house from the outside. Actually it kind of resembles Oyster Creek Inn, minus the dock and sea vessels. The inside had a country theme… but like apple pie, Patsy Cline, old country. Not«my girl left me, my dog died, and my tractor needs a new engine» country. We found 2 seats at the bar and the bartender took our drink orders pretty quickly and made some small talk with us while giving us some menus. It was Mexican Thursday(weird to have it on a Thursday in my opinion), but their specials didn’t impress me too much. 3 tacos for $ 4? Everybody knows you can get 2 tacos for $ 1 at Gregory’s! Anyway, we ended up ordering the nachos grande. I had a glass of house white, which was disgusting and tasted bad. Not bad like I wasn’t a fan of that particular wine, just… bad. Boyfriend was drinking Coors Light. Who goes to a bar to drink water? ;) Apparently there were margarita specials on Mexican Thursday, but the price wasn’t listed(even for a house margarita), while prices for every other special were. The waitress finally came over after the bartender had to flag her down to do her job. The nachos were not impressive in the least. I hate when only the top layer of chips has any toppings, and the rest is just plain Tostitos. That was this batch of nachos. The ground beef tasted like the kind used for tacos at my Elementary school. No joke. I had a flashback to 4th grade eating these. The best part was, the waitress dropped off this plate of nachos… and nothing else. No separate plates, no silverware… just a plate of nachos. We had to ask the bartender for some forks. This could have been a 3 star review if the next paragraph never took place. A group of about 20 Stockton kids came in and basically took over the bar. They were loud and obnoxious and annoying, but not a big deal in the scheme of things. The bartender earned McGettigan’s its 1 star review when he came over to refill drinks for boyfriend and me. Halfway through us telling him what we wanted for our next round, he stopped us: «Hold on.» He turned his back to us, went over to the opposite side of the bar, and proceeded to fill drink orders for literally every other person at the bar EXCEPT us. We had already been sitting with empty glasses for about 20 minutes. We waited another 10 minutes(that was me trying to give this jerk the benefit of the doubt) before bolting. We also stiffed him on a tip, which I have never ever done before. I realize he was busy, but if someone’s ordering a drink from you, and you’ve made it clear you are standing in front of them so you can refill their drinks, you don’t tell them to hold on while you wait on the rest of the bar. Beer and a glass of wine. Doesn’t take more than a minute to pour those. So long story short, boyfriend and I figured out why we tend to always go to the same local dives over and over again. We left McGettigan’s and took our money to Hi Point, where we were served our drinks within 2 minutes of arriving, despite the bar being packed for Quizzo. Obviously we’d never go back.

I stayed in the Seaview for business and wanted something simple and easy that I could eat in my room, without dropping $ 25 on room service for an ok-sandwich. I got the French Dip sandwich. It was pretty good, the meat was flavorful, the bread was really good, and they gave ample dipping sauce, although everything was salty. I got a baked potato side and they went really light on the sour cream… not even enough for one side. It was cheaper than the hotel and a good spot. I did takeout and it was quick and easy. I recommend it, especially for happy hour, but don’t expect much more than typical pub fare.

This is the place to go while staying at the Marriot Seaview or Smithville. An Irish Pub /Country house atmoshpere with separate dining from the bar area. Grab a pint and have one of the delicious Home Cooked dinner specials. Great prices and Home made meals. Afterwards, chew the fat with the locals at the bar. A real nice place to chill.
