This used to be one of our favorite restaurants! I started out giving this restaurant 4 stars when I first wanted to review it last year. While the food seems to be consistently good, and the menu features a lot of variety, my husband and I have been a little disappointed with the changes as dine-in customers over the years. We have become carry-out customers over the last year. About six years ago there was a family who ran this restaurant — — a husband and wife team raising their two young daughters. They were a pleasant family who ran an efficient and courteous business with very good food. Their oldest daughter was put to task on the dining room floor, I suppose, to learn the business. No problem… We kept coming back, and since we live out of town, sitting down in a restaurant would be our first choice when we are in Galion. And then one day they all disappeared! A new family seemed to replace them. Now I will say that the food was still good. The doors never closed & the menu didn’t change. When we went to dine last fall, the restaurant was extremely cold and we kept our coats on while we placed our order. While waiting, we decided to change the order to carry out. The lady waiting on us was compliant and it was no problem, but I can’t understand why they think anybody would want to eat there in October or November with the thermostat at 62°! Additionally we noticed that the traditional Chinese music that had been played in the overhead system had been changed to a radio blaring a heavy metal station from the checkout counter. Very tacky. We went back again to dine in on a warmer day, but again the tacky radio was blaring, and while the restaurant wasn’t cold so much, the people running the restaurant were all schlepping around in winter coats. Every time the server came to our table she had her hands stuffed in her pockets and was scrunched up like she was freezing to death. This just made for a yucky, unprofessional dining experience and that’s the last time we will dine in. The food is still good, but we’ll be carrying out from time to time. We miss the disappearing family that used to be there as they were more personable and knew how to run a dining room. I would actually give the food 5 stars, but the dining room experience gets 2 stars, thus the near average of 3. Maybe«Papa» is still cooking in the kitchen, but that other group of people is going to kill the dine-in segment of their business, which is not unimportant if you are running a restaurant. Also, in a previous review, someone mentioned that the high-back chairs where uninviting. Jade Palace does not use those chairs. They have all booth seating.
