Sweetheart Bakery

Just visited, smelled amazing, got a drink only because I was so full from lunch, got a taste of one of their chocolate chip cookies. The cookie was amazing! It was soft with a good cookie to chip ratio. The owner was very nice as well! Will hopefully try to come back and get sweets for later!

They offer a cozy sit down area, along with plates, napkins, and of course COFFEE. You are more than welcome to do a take home as well, but the atmosphere is beyond passing up to stay a while.

A++++ to the employee/​owner (?) that stayed late to give us the donuts we bought and left there to pick up on the way out of town later because it was so hot. I didn’t realize they closed at 1 or 2, so when we strolled up at like 2:45 to get our donuts and the door was locked, I was bummed. There goes the goodies I paid for… NOPE! The man was nice enough to open up and give us the loot ;)
The bad news is that the donuts really were not to our liking, even thought the flavors sounded out of this world (apple pie and smores, come on!). Would try something different next time.

This would be zero if that option was available. Our group traveled from Chicago for the weekend and we ordered a cake for our friend’s 30^th birthday. The owner offered to deliver it to the restaurant where we had dinner reservations. Being a small town, the restaurant was only 8 doors down from the bakery. We show up to dinner to discover the cake was NEVER DELIVERED. Obviously, the bakery was closed at this point so all we could do was leave a message. This was completely UNACCEPTABLE. Once the owner returned our call (2 days later) all she offered was an apology, a picture of the cake, and a coupon! We live 3 hours away– the coupon is a joke! Our money was refunded, as it should be but this completely ruined the birthday surprise for an important birthday. Imagine if they forgot to deliver your wedding cake… Want a coupon? Do NOT trust them with your special occasions!

What a cute, fun place. Cozy inside, with comfy seating outside that is away from the busy traffic of the street, but still with a bit of a view of what’s going on around. Had some lemon tea, and a pastry. Also bought some sauerkraut rye bread that only lasted a day and a half for my family of 4. Yum-​O! Will be making this a regular stop on my trips to Galena.

Walked in just to check out this place and get something quick and sweet. The woman behind the counter (I believe the owner) and the gentleman were both very friendly. Carrot muffin was delicious and they offered to add some cream cheese frosting if I desired. Told them we were chocolate-​lovers and they suggested something called «Da Bomb.» Mini chocolate cakes with nuts and ganache. Yummy!
