Just writing to correct the latest entry that says this place is closed. Maybe it was closed when they visited but it is not closed permanently. This place gets 3 stars because the owner overcame the failings of the staff. Owner 5 star, staff 1. Chai tea was adequate for the $ 4 price(2 star). Interior was lovely(4 star)

So so sad to see this place is closed! I loved sitting in this comfy little coffeehouse sipping amazing coffee. Very sad day for me in Galena :(

Quaint little eclectic find in historic downtown Galena. The espresso is robust and flavorful. Rendezvous looks like it would be good for studying or a meet up with friends. On weekends there’s live music in the evenings. The staff was friendly and fast. I almost rated Rendezvous 4 stars, because the baked good selection is very limited, but decided that the ambiance, coffee, and location were enough to earn 5.

So glad to find a coffee shop that doesn’t follow in the footpath of Starbucks. The coffee tasted great and the service was excellent.

Beautiful little shop. Killer espresso drinks, tasty morsels, nice barista, lovely art, guitars and other musical instruments hung along the walls, locally roasted whole bean for sale. What more could you want? A real gem.

Had two scary looking chocolate croissants. Sometimes looks are deceiving and we were craving chocolate. At the last minute we got our treats to go. Later we found that she had microwaved them and they were a melted gooey rubbery mess. Inedible. And they were $ 4 apiece. MAD! Who would microwave a croissant?! Makes me wonder where they got them and the rest of their treats if they are that clueless.

A delightful little coffee shop. They have great coffee and plenty of herbal teas for my wife. A few regular tables, but mostly nice comfy sofas. The staff are friendly and helpful. Delicious pastries, brownies and cup cakes. It is a very convenient stop on Galena Main Street. We liked it so much yesterday that we went back there again today and had some of their wonderful pumpkin cheesecake with our coffee and tea. Very yummy!

Pretty standard for me — some of the drinks taste on par with what I would expect, and some of the drinks that they’ve added their signature on are not really my taste. I stick with what’s a bit more basic when going here, only because it’s not cheap to buy something to experiment with and then find out that you really don’t like it. I appreciate them having wireless in this area since phone signals aren’t the greatest in this part of town.

Horrible! I love Galena all the restaurants and small bakeries and all the times I’ve been here I’ve never had such a horrible experience. They have a sign on their window that reads«stuffed croissants» so my fiancé and I stopped in for a ham and cheese croissant. EPICFAIL! The kid who attended us was very nice and attentive and packed our snacks to go. Our croissants tasted about a day old even after warming them up at our B&B they were still so stale they were inedible. For 2 croissants and an elephant ear I spent $ 10, and I might as well have thrown those $ 10 in the street for what I got. It’s insulting that they would even serve these pastries as old as they were. NEVERAGAIN!!!

Love the look of the shop, the owner stayed open later than usual so we could sit and get a break from the cold. What a nice guy. The mocha I had was pretty yummy as well. I walked around the shop and checked out the art and my husband played some of the guitars that are hanging around. A really nice place, comfy and good coffee.

Friendly staff, free wi-fi, don’t really remember the selection well, we kinda just ducked out of the rain as we Unilocaled something for lunch. The iced coffee was nice and the latte was good too. It feels like an independent coffee shop(as it should). Like any coffee shop nowadays, it was $ 6 for two regular drinks. Nice ambiance and music and overall feel when relaxing and playing a card game together.

Spent the day here to work and had a pretty nice time. There are a few tables up front and antique couches in the back. I was kind of afraid to put down my coffee for fear of ruining something but I guess they must be used to watermarks and stains. The owner and employee were friendly and we got to talk to them about the local vs. tourist population for a little while which was nice. Seems like it has a lot of potential. My blended latte was only meh but I’d come back just for the ambiance.

Shabby chic victorian + coffee/tea + art/music = one of my favorite places to chillax in town! We stopped in for a late afternoon pick-me-up and was pleasantly surprised to find they offered Intelligentsia beans and leaves. We chatted with the owner-barista and found out our iced latte was a local roaster’s, which he assured us, was better. My jasmine peach tea came with a nice tray adorned with a pot and dainty cup. We settled in on one of their couches and enjoyed admiring pieces from local artists and browsing through their collection of art books. Great place for a coffee break and convos. They also have certain nights of the week with live music!

Intelligentsia coffee in small-town Illinois? YESPLEASE. Reminds me of the glory days in the big city. The owners are very friendly, and the service is more personable and a bit slower than other coffee shops in the area. But the coffee is so much better. My only complaint about this place… why, oh why are you using styrofoam cups? Please think about being kinder to the environment! Lastly– I’m giving this place a $$ rating for price– last time I was here two lattes cost me $ 12 Totally worth it though.

My wife and I stopped here on a miserably rainy morning, and it took the misery away. A more-than welcoming seating area in the back was a comfortable place to enjoy our coffee and cider while playing a quick game of Scrabble. The manager(possibly owner) was very friendly and chatted with us for a bit about the weekly Scrabble tournaments they have. If you ask me, it says a lot about a business that enjoys hosting little community events like these. When we come back to Galena, we will definitely make sure to stop in here again.

My husband and I LOVED this place. We were looking for a great coffee drink on a cold afternoon, and we were not disappointed. I ordered a latte and my husband got a cappucino, and we loved both drinks. If you are used to crappy coffee or espresso, the drinks might taste extremely bold, but we loved the intensity of the beverages. They were both served with a little bicuit/cookie(I forget the name) that was a nice extra touch. My husband and I loved relaxing on the couches in the back, looking through some of the great art books they have out, the art on the walls, and listening as the owner/barista played beautiful piano music in the background. It was a wonderful little escape from a rainy afternoon! We will definitely be back when return to Galena.

I found myself in Galena this past weekend — getting away from the city is a necessity now and then — and in the walks around town waiting for restaurant reservations or what have you, we found this little coffee shop run by ex-pats from Chicago(a family run operation) It hasn’t been open long(so we were told) but they seem to have a great handle on what makes a coffee shop great. There are sofas and tables for lounging or what-not. While I was there, one of the owners started playing guitar back-up for a friend with a mandolin. All the art in the place seems to be by the wife, who seems to be — in my eyes — an expert in charcoal. This place just feels cozy. it’s a great escape from the other tourists. All in all, great coffee brewed by people who care. Love that the owners sit around and play music an chat. This is a very relaxed atmosphere, even if it’s for drinking highly caffeinated drinks.
