We looked forward to eating here the whole trip. We ordered the deep dish pizza. Some people may like it but it just wasn’t for us. Some spice in the sauce was over powering.

Absolutely the best Italian Beef!!! Hope they never change. The beer nuggets are so good, I can eat a dish of them myself. When I said the Italian Beef was best, I have it from Florida to Denver… hands down in the top 5!!! My wife loves their salad.

I’m not sure how this place stays in business. Their host who sits people is the rudest person I have ever encountered in my whole life going out to eat. We stopped in January 1st to get a table. The host told us it was a 45 minute wait. We said we would wait at the bar and he told us that they bar was full. The bar wasn’t full we were looking right at it. He said we would have to leave. We said is this a bar and why can’t we just have a couple drinks in the bar. He said we have to leave now. We said fine and we vowed to never return to this place again.

This place came recommended by a friend. We stopped by for lunch on New Years Day after 1pm and were seated promptly. We ordered buffalo wings and thin crust pizza as waitress said thick crust pizza would take a while. They brought us family-style salad(lettuce with blue cheese crumbles only – kids would not eat it and they love salad) with raspberry vinaigrette dressing and DELICIOUS beer nuggets(bite-sized bread sticks). I love wings – their wings were okay but mild was VERY mild(bone in). I’m not a fan of thin crust to be fair but everyone thought it was okay – nothing spectacular. Not sure about the hype. Yes, TVs everywhere but somewhat cramped everywhere. Staff seemed friendly. Warning: parking is an issue so be prepared to pay to park in a lot and walk.

Staff is great! Food is great! Atmosphere is great! Outdoor patio is by far the nicest in the state! Then you give me razor thin silverware? Invest in some flatware to compliment this great place. Please.

Been here numerous occasions, food and staff consistently good! My spouse and I split a 14 inch thin crust pizza, ½ georgeos, ½ gyros, excellent! Salad is also very good. Bottled beer could be colder and/or served in frosted mugs, so negative there. Still above average considering how busy they were.

So much food. Go hungry and you’ll be satisfied. We had the Italian beef sandwich and gyro plate and could not eat it all. Very good.

Food was good. Burger, Chicken sandwich and a pizza was ordered for the table. Went there to watch the Cubs game since its a Sports Pub. No volume on the game. Quick eat and left for a tv with volume.

Ay yi yi. We had a good experience with Blake, our server. Good food, great outdoor patio. Enter Jimmy, the«manager» at the greeting and seating table in the front of the restaurant, who attempted to refuse to seat our group on the outdoor patio. He had a negative attitude and was abrasive to our group. Allegedly, according to Jimmy, there were«too many bees» on the patio. Then, inexplicably, and INFRONTOFOURGROUP, he turned to the woman assisting him and stated that he did not want to sit our group on the patio. Anyway, once we finally got seated *on the patio* the total absence of bees was observable and obvious… and tons of other guests were already seated on the patio. Jimmy’s attitude was both unprofessional and annoying– and hilariously, his ignorance was on display for the whole crowd waiting to be seated, who also commented that his attitude was inappropriate and disrespectful. Sadly, won’t be back due only to Jimmy’s diva attitude and narcissism. Advising Gobbie’s to take remedial action. What an @hole.

The only way I rate a place as good or bad is their service!!! When you are running an establishment in a touristy town, make sure your staff knows how to be polite or even fake a smile! Our bartender Brittany was RUDE!!! She had the worst attitude and didn’t even bother pretending to care ! She had an attitude when we talked to her about a specific drink– talking condescendingly like we didn’t know what we are asking for ! She was outright rude after that and next thing we know, our drinks were just slammed in front of us while she walked away because she was mad!!! All of this while we were being polite! Let me give you some suggestions a) don’t have an attitude when your job duties primarily focus around customer service and b) don’t forget you work for tips!!! We are extremely social people and we live in Chicago now and have lived in New York before that, and not even in the classiest of bars/lounges and night clubs have I ever seen this kind of attitude from a server/bartender! We were in Galena celebrating a birthday and this incident just ruined everyone’s right! I have been to Gobbie’s several times in the past, and haven’t experienced anything as bad as this!

Outside patio seating is awesome! Nice setting :) Just keep in mind, you cannot eat while seating on the couch… Only drinks are allowed. You need to try their deep dish pizza. It’s Really good! I didn’t expect it to be this good(better than some places in Chicago!).

Okay okay, yes this place is hokey and touristy and looks like the owner bought out an entire store of cheesy wooden signs and neon lights for decoration. But they have great pizza and a really nice bar inside, so I give this place 4 stars. Walking in, sometimes it’s crowded and loud, but you can usually get a table. They have amazing deep dish, and you have to try the beer nuggets. They are on the menu as one of their«must try» items, and they are really good. Deep fried, beer battered, and covered in Parmesan cheese. Need I say more? Their salad is just okay, but does the job as a basic side salad with the pizza. Again, if you’re coming in here to eat, you’re clearly not coming in here for a salad. After all, this place is known for beer nuggets. Newish outdoor beer garden which we haven’t had the chance to try yet, I know it was under construction for some time, and it seems really nice. Definitely one of the few places in downtown Galena with an outdoor eating area that large, besides Campeche’s. This is probably the only real sports bar in downtown Galena. Yes, you can watch games at other places, but the downtown area has a lot of sit down restaurants versus bars. Come here for a pizza and a game if you want something more casual, and easier on your wallet.

This 5 starts is all for the deep dish pizza, the beer bread nuggets, and their better than the rest pizza sauce. I drive to Galena to eat the deep dish here. Service is polite and fun to the right kind of customer and the setting is pretty nice.

Ok so I have to say… food options in Galena are kind of limited. We had been before and already ate at some of the great places so we were looking for more bar food… well look no further… Gobbie’s was delish. We actually got the pan pizza. It was pretty damn good! Great butter, doughy crust… which I love. Think kind of like Giordano’s(Chicago folk). We also did the app combo platter… HUMONGOUS fried apps… YUM! The staff was EXCELLENT! We had stopped in several places were people we meh, or cranky or just rude… not here. They were on top of their game and super nice. I guess they also have an outdoor patio in the summer months… maybe next time we will be able to check that out. This was just the place we were looking for. Middle of the road, inexpensive bar food that is good… not gastropub, not ghetto or gross… this was perfect for us!

This place has ended up as my go to spot for a burger and a beer here in Galena. And that is mostly because the burgers are consistently good(my favorite is the Mushroom Swiss.) It always tastes very fresh, it’s always moist, and it has that right-off-the-grill taste. It comes with a generous house salad, and for some reason with these superfluous carbs or little fried dough pillows you can dip in marinara(see pics here.) In short, you will not go hungry with this meal! The seasoned fries are very tasty. A burger with salad, pillows and fries and beer with tip was around $ 19.00. There are a few choices of domestic and craft draught beers which are reasonably-priced. The staff behind the bar are always friendly. Last time, one of the servers called me «Dear.» That’s probably the next best way to keep me coming back. Love that«hon» or «dear» treatment anytime! As far as ambiance or local color goes, let’s just say it’s good for that if you are perhaps missing Schaumburg. Nothing special there. It’s your standard-issue sports bars with lots of TVs. But fun on a weekend afternoon if you’ve been cocooning out in the woods all week, as I had. Great outdoor patio when summer rolls around. Besides, burgers, everything else you’d expect as far as pub fare. A pleasant and reasonably priced option on Galena’s Main Drag.

Comfy environment. Good food. We spilt a mushroom & pepperoni calzone which is a thin 14″ pizza folded in half. The crust was delicious and their tomato sauce is one of the best i have ever tasted; it’s a little more sweet and smooth than others who I consider zesty and tart. The service was decent. Salad and beer poppers came with the calzone and both were alright. Price was real nice at just over $ 20 including the tip. We’d eat here again ;)

We recently spent two nights in the Galena area and stopped here both nights nights for a beer. Thus this review is only for the bar. The bar wasn’t crowed either night and I found both bartenders to be lackadaisical. For a sports bar nobody in the place was paying any attention to the games on the TVs. This just seemed weird. The prices were fine and they had a nice selection on tap of local brews. Someone did tell us that this is one of only two places that stay open later than 9:30 for a beer.
