My parents and I walked into this establishment today. My father and his lady friend went to the counter with another couple(not with us) to sample gelato. Both couples had a few samples. Then an older woman, who appeared to be the owner or manager, told the other couple that there was a two sample maximum. They left. Then the older woman told the younger girl working behind the counter that they didn’t really have that rule. She just felt the other couple had too many samples. They had no more than my father and his friend. And my father’s friend had a couple more after the other couple left. The only difference between my father and his friend and the other couple was that the other couple was younger and African American. The way the older woman treated the young couple was horrible. She was rude and condescending. I would not give this store a penny of my money after what I witnessed. There are plenty of other candy stores and spas in Galena. Keep moving!

It’s such a cute little place. You walk in and there’s a chocolate/gelato store Nd on the other is the reception area for the spa. The massage services are on floor 2nd the mani/pedi is on 3rd. I’ve had a lot of massages but this was one of the best massages I’ve had. Linda was great. I also had a mani from Olivia. She was very sweet and professional. My best friend also got a facial and mani and really enjoyed herself. I highly recommend this spa.

My boyfriend and I recently spent a weekend in galena to escape the stress from work and home. After an hour long couples massage we left feeling completely stress free and incredibly relaxed. The atmosphere is insanely relaxing with a warm temperature and soothing aromas. We had the pleasure of getting worked on by Ed and Gina, both extremely nice and enthusiastic. I personally thought Gina did a wonderful job targeting my problem areas as well as making me feel calm and comfortable. After the massage she showed us to another room where we were served water and were able to sit and unwind before leaving. Overall, my experience was AMAZING. Not to mention how reasonably priced our package was. I highly suggest this for anybody traveling to or through Galena.

I had my hair & makeup done here along with my bridesmaids, Mom & Mother-In-law the day of my wedding. They were so accommodating to our group, scheduling the appointments with me to keep all 8 of us moving through in just a few hours. We loved our hair & the makeup stayed on all night. I wish the hair & makeup trial I did with them was a discounted price, but oh well. Happy overall & I would go back! Bonus: the main level of the salon is a sweets store :)

My boyfriend and I got a couple’s massage here. We should have cancelled the appointment when the innkeepers at our B&B told us that the place has a bad reputation, but at that point our massage was in a few hours and we thought a massage is a massage, right? Wrong. The reason I’m leaving a negative review is because the overall«spa» experience was so poor. I have received many massages from various places around Chicago land and they all have a similar tranquil theme. In this one, you walk up 3 flights of stairs into a salon rather than a spa. We were greeted by two massage therapists and while one of them was really nice(Sharon), and asked about areas she should focus on, pressure, etc., the other masseuse didn’t care. You could tell she didnt want to be there and I felt like we were inconveniencing her by dropping $ 200 for 2 massages. There is only 1 massage room on the floor and it is right next to the salon. So throughout the entire massage, I heard people talking, laughing, full conversations, hair dryers, water, and cabinet doors opening and closing. The massage therapists tried to drown out the noise by blasting the ocean water soundtrack, but that just made the experience that more disturbing. Every other massage place has a quiet area with signs posted on the doors saying to «please be quiet, massage in session». Not here. The masseuses didn’t have that relaxing, whispering voice either. With all the sounds going on outside of the room and the music blaring in the room, they were shouting at us to flip over or move our arm, etc. Also, a minor point of contention — she used lotion rather than oil. And probably an entire bottle of lotion since it kept drying up. I could have scratched off a layer of white lotion from my body when I left there. This was the first time I left a massage NOT feeling relaxed. The locals were right — this place is not one that I would want to venture to again.

Do not come here unless you want to be taken advantage of! As a tourist area, there is always the unfortunate possibility that business owners will bank on the fact that their customers aren’t regulars. Clover is one of those places. My mother and I had the WORST mani/pedi experiences here. I received both the longest and most terrible manicure — the polish was ancient and chipped off completely within a day, plus the manicurist nicked my cuticle until it bled. My mom, on the other hand, was dispensed with in just 15min — a 15min pedicure?! Needless to say, her polish was a mess — color on her toes instead of the nails, and chipping within a day. The women who did our services were clearly not regular employees but rather weekend temps — didn’t know how to turn up the lights, work the hot water kettle for tea, or adjust the pedicure chairs. The whole afternoon was a total mess. The cherry on top is that we were UPCHARGED for the«signature» services, which are supposed to include a massage, a warm wrap, and other«relaxing additions.» When I complained that I had been incorrectly charged, the owner agreed to refund half the cost — but then I never got my refund! I’ve been fruitlessly trying to contact her for over two months now. I’m willing to bet money that the positive reviews are from employees, not real customers. DONOTGOHERE!

I only wish I could give this place a negative amount of stars. I chose Clover on Main because of all of the positive reviews. My mom recently moved to Galena and I was going to drive to Galena from Chicago take her here for a spa day on her 77th birthday. I called them on Tuesday and scheduled our appointments. Then I visited their website. There is a place on their website where you can buy gift certificates. I had some Visa and Mastercard gift cards and used those to purchase certificates for our services. All of the transactions went through. I received confirmations of all of the transactions. I landed on a page that either lets you print out your gift certificates or email them to yourself. I printed them out. The total cost was $ 340. Transaction completed, I threw out the gift cards. The next day I receive an email saying I need to call them with the three numbers on the back of the card. I called them and said that I threw the cards out, they were gift cards. The day after that I get a call from, I believe, Annette(sp?), who tells me that none of the transactions went through, that the cards I used had expired expiration dates, and that I entered the same number for all of the cards. For anyone who has ever shopped online using a credit card, debit card, or gift card, you know that it is not possible to do any of those things and have the transaction go through. And the gift cards had expiration dates of 2021 and 2022. She said after this occurrence they realized there was a problem with their website and immediately changed their procedures. But, as for me? I was told, pretty much, «Too bad.» No matter that I’m out $ 340, or that I have no place to take my mom in two days on her birthday. What Annette said was, «I don’t know what to tell you, we don’t have any money from you.» Really? Because I’m out $ 340. I would NEVER do business with people like this. If you are a business, and a transaction goes wrong because of an error on YOUR side of the table(I did nothing wrong, I have transaction confirmation emails AND the actual gift certificates), then YOU eat the mistake, not the customer. I am beyond disgusted with these people. I am not only out $ 340, I have two days to scramble to find some place to take my mom for her birthday. Thanks Clover on Main. Great way to win and keep clientele, and spread goodwill.

My best friend and I came here for a couple massage. We were so excited since we had heard from her mother in law that this place was great. We got the hot stone massage. I don’t regret a second of this massage. It was truly a pampering. The massage therapists made us feel comfortable and relaxed. I would go back here in a second.

My girlfriends and I came in for facials and massages. They were great. Very peaceful, calming and wonderful. I kept thinking my 60 minutes were going to be up any minute… but it kept going, so happy about that!

We were in Galena for a girls weekend, and all of us had massages at Clover. Theresa did my massage and it was truly the best massage of my life. I don’t get to Galena often, but will definitely return here and ask for Theresa when I can. The atmosphere is very calming, soothing and relaxing. A great experience all around!

I had a deep-tissue massage here, and it was the best massage I’ve ever had. Even better than ones I’ve had at famous spas in Napa. Kara was my massage therapist, and she was incredibly knowledgeable about muscles, ligaments, tissues – you name it! I sit in a chair all day at work, so I have some crazy stiffness in my shoulders and upper back. After Kara was done, I melted off the table.

Clover on Main is my FAVORITE pedicure spot! I used to frequent only those spas which had a whirlpool basin and massage chairs before I had a pedicure at Clover. I never realized how relaxing a pedicure could be without all that noise. I have had pedicures at a number of spas in Chicago and other cities and none have been as good as Clover on Main. The nail room at Clover is warm, inviting and very relaxing. The chairs are rattan with great cushions, a lovely throw blanket to curl up with and the chairs recline with a full leg support for the massage portion of the pedicure. All of the tools are thoroughly sanitized and the OPI and Aveda products are excellent. They also use warmed towels and give you a warmed neck pillow for extra relaxation! While the location and surroundings at Clover are excellent, the best thing about it is the professionals. Everyone there is very friendly and very good. My husband and I usually go together for pedicures and they even let us bring a bottle of wine to share-and they provide the wine glasses! Stop at Jamie’s first(fabulous wine bar next door), pick up a bottle of wine and then indulge and enjoy at Clover!

This was a great experience! A friend and I were in town forthe Galena Wine Lover’s Weekend this past weekend and decided to pop in for some girly pampering. We each received a 30-minutes massage, an Aveda facial and a mani-pedi. This place is brand-spankin’ new. Some of the doors didn’t even have doorknobs, lol. The carpet is still cushy! The walls upstairs are exposed brick and the paint on the walls is at once muted and noticably pretty. I was AGOG at Mary the Masseuse’s skills. Girl’s got SKILLS. That little 30-minute massage was one of, if not the BEST, massages I’ve ever had. She even rubbed my ears and did pressure point stuff on my face! The facial that followed was also pretty awesome, inclusive of a relaxing scalp massage and more light tapping on pressure points. Then we went downstairs for the mani-pedi and were greeted with a glass of red wine, in honor of the wine fest — sweet! The process was fine; our nail techs were appropriately talkative and focused. I was a little concerned about the low light in the room, however; how could they see? Unfortunately, at lunch right after we’d left, I saw excess polish globbed around my cuticles. Also, the polish bubbled and peeled not 2 hours after leaving the spa, which was disappointing. Overall, however, I would go back here every time I’m in Galena. I’d likely stick with the massage and body/facial services, but this place is so, so new… I’m sure everything will get even better. Thank you, Clover!
