Great little restaurant! We were in town from California visiting family and looking for a place to all meet up for an early dinner since we had alot of kids with us. They were able to get a large table ready for us with a phone call ahead of time. Very attentive, friendly staff and good food! I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I visited this tiny spot for the first time a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. can’t speak for how authentic or not it is, as I don’t have much experience with Greek food, but it was delish.

Charming ambiance, waitstaff, and patrons. Food is nothing short of extraordinary! The menu has a lot of range — gyros, salads, sandwiches, pasta, seafood, cold and hot apps. It’s suitable for a casual dinner or to celebrate a major milestone. Will definitely be coming back to this place!

I was craving a gyro pita and they delivered! I dined alone and even though the restaurant was packed they took great care of me. My first time here and I loved it.

After managing to grab an open parking spot on the street right outside of the restaurant, my friend and I were excited to try the food. We’ve been eyeing this place for a while, especially since some of the Greek places we’ve been to in the area have been pretty disappointing. We were greeted and seated promptly by our waiter, Yianni, who had a charming personality and kept us entertained while juggling a few other parties… Talk about setting the bar high for service! The grilled octopus was perfect. It was soft & tender, served over a bed of beans that had a refreshing, ceviche-like taste. The beans were harder than what I’m used to, but very addicting. I couldn’t help but pick the remaining few beans off the plate. The side salad was very light. I liked how it wasn’t too heavy on the salad dressing. The feta that was sprinkled on top was out of this world! It wasn’t too clumped together or soggy, and didn’t have that overpowering saltiness that I’ve tasted in most fetas. I ordered the Kotopoulo Koronis over pasta & added some shrimp. The vodka cream sauce is what makes this dish. If the rich, creamy flavor doesn’t make you fall in love with the first bite, then the generous bits of chicken(and in my case shrimp too!) will. The pasta was al dente… the perfect texture. I like my pasta to be a little more firm to the bite with a slight chew. They also served it with a spoon on the side — a very small detail that most restaurants forget when serving pasta. It’s really hard to shy away from that pasta dish because it’s done so well. Even though I’ll feel a little guilty saying this, but… it’s worth the carbs. Seriously SO worth it. My friend and I came in another time for dinner and the experience was a little different. The service was still friendly, but not as interactive. The restaurant is small, so at dinner it’ll feel cramped. I know eating in close-quarters promotes«togetherness,» but not if you’re trying to have dinner for two lol. After a large party was seated right next to us, we decided to skip dessert and bounce because it got a little too hectic(even though some Baklava would’ve been a great ending to the meal: P). Although I do prefer the more relaxed/chill vibe of the restaurant during the lunch hours, it still is a solid choice for dining in the Kentlands during dinner. Despite the small hiccups during their dinner service, they’ve hit all the marks here — food, atmosphere, service. They’ve totally won me over.

I came here for the first time today for dinner. The host was so welcoming and the service there is amazing. My dinner was great and I’ll be back there very soon! The place is very small but they have outdoor seating which will be nice in the spring.

If you are looking for a great gyro, this is it! Fresh ingredients, not overstuffed with filler and juicy, flavorful meat. Not a fast food place so put in your order in advance if you are doing carryout.

I have been going to this restaurant for several years now. This authentic Greek restaurant serves multiple traditional, and, not to mention, flavourful dishes ranging from the ‘infamous’ Gyro(pronounced similarly to ‘Euro’, which is a European Currency) to a variety of mezedes and much more! The Positives: 1. The family who owns this place is extremely friendly! And the servers are very pleasant as well! 2. The restaurant may be compact, but it holds a large collection of vivacious Greek paintings and murals,(and many friendly people!) 3. I have had the Paithakia many times, and these lamb-chops are freshly-cooked, tender, and very juicy!(even though it doesn’t hold a lot of meat! Still worth-it!!). 4. I know! I know! When I venture there to eat, for dessert, I usually order the brownie,(even though this is not Greek!) which is very soft and delicate. To balance out the richness of the chocolate, it is served with some ice cream as well, so you don’t feel overwhelmed. 5. They have terrace seating, and I recommend dining outside if the temperature is warm enough of course! But not only can you dine under the sunny-skies, but paradoxically, in light rain! It’s actually fairly romantic!(And yes, they have an awning:)) The Negatives: 1. Their take-away food usually comes in very small portions. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Vasilis is a small place, artfully decorated & great for a date night! The waitstaff was always very friendly and attentive. My date and I started with the hummus, which was good — it came with nice warm pita and vegetables too, which was a nice touch. However, you almost don’t need it, because they also give you complimentary bread & oil! Although entrees range from $ 12-$ 24, they definitely don’t skimp on the portion size. My date and I both ordered pitas(1 chicken, 1 veggie), but they also came with a nice small Greek salad(could have had less dressing, but restaurants always do that) and a generous starch side. I couldn’t resist the sweet potato fries option and I wasn’t disappointed.(I don’t know if sweet potato fries are traditional Greek, but I’m not complaining!) Overall, a very nice place. Would definitely go back! We arrived around 5:15, but it definitely got more crowded later on, so I would suggest going early if you go there for dinner.

Awesome greek food! I came here with my coworkers for lunch and the service was great. Try the saganaki(they light cheese on fire). It’s amazing with lemon and you can even eat it with the bread. Overall great place for lunch!

We started with an appetizer of saganaki. This is greek cheese(kasseri) fried! It comes flaming hot, literally, it is set on fire for a final crisp and put out with the juice of a lemon. It was amazing. The outside was a thin layer of crisp to protect the oozing cheese inside. The cheese itself was very creamy, but dense. It was similar to a mozzarella. The lemon added some acidity to a flat taste. It was exceptional!($ 10)
For dinner, he could have taken the easy road(like I did), but he didn’t! He went outside of his safety meat box and ordered something we were both intrigued by… it was a proud moment for me! He had the pastichio. The best way for me to explain it to you is think of lasagna. It was baked of ground beef and noodles and topped with béchamel sauce(white sauce made from a roux, French origins). He loved it and I did too. He said every layer had a unique interesting flavor. It came served with green beans and a Greek salad.($ 16) I wanted to go outside the box, but I was having a strong pull toward the lamb kabobs… so that is what I ordered. The tzatziki was wonderful, the cucumbers were finely chopped and mixed in. The lamb was also very delicious. It was marinated to bring out the natural lamb flavor. It was tender and done to the perfect temperature. The vegetables were grilled and still crunchy. The rice was nothing fancy, but still a good texture and taste. It was a wonderful dish. I am disappointed that I did not order something else(like the moussaka), but this was a great choice. It also came with a Greek salad.($ 20) We didn’t need dessert, but our wonderful waiter sold us on something anyway. We ordered the special of the night, bougatsa. The only words word I have for you is WOW. We kept saying it over and over. It was absolutely amazing. A flaky pastry with warm creamy filling topped with blueberries and a sprinkle of powdered sugar and cinnamon.($ 7)

I was in the mood for a traditional Greek Gyro but wearing a suit so didn’t want to risk soiling it before the big meeting. The Vasilis Rocket salad with Gyro meat & a side of fresh pita bread cut into wedges was the perfect compromise! The ½ salad was more than enough for lunch & the Tzatziki was amazingly garlicly — exactly the way I like it.

I’m a regular customer and was compelled to share my overwhelming support for this fine establishment. I have been going to Vasilis for years and the food is consistently at the highest level of quality. The service and atmosphere are both great; albeit a bit small(I was very excited to hear that they will be moving to a larger space down the block). The owner and his family are a delight and it is refreshing to see such an exceptional, family-run restaurant. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in delicious Greek cuisine. Also is a great place for a romantic dinner for two.

Excellent! The Best salad! Um restaurante pequeno, um pouco escondido, mas, vale muito. A comida é ótima!

Fantastic staff(loved Caitlin), authentic Greek food. Lamb wonderfully seasoned. Can’t wait to try everything! And when they move to the other street in Kentlands, there will be even more room. Excellent. So glad we found it! Catt

An amazing find! My husband and I wanted something new but close to home. The atmosphere is great here, when you are here it doesn’t feel like you are in Maryland but as if you’re actually in Greece. I absolutely would recommend to all friends. We started with the saganaki:) the bread and dip is great too! Then we got gyros, k, koronis and the dolmathakia. Great food and service!!! The waiter was pretty funny and very nice.

What a nice experience! From the moment I walked inside the door, I was greeted by 2 different people. The 1st was perhaps the Hostess & the other the Floor Manager. There was a nice crowd yet no wait, so after I was asked for my seating preference, to the patio I went. As soon as I sat down, my server Augustus popped over. He was welcoming & very expedient in his service. He knew the menu pretty well & was able to suggest he selections I could consumed. I ordered a glass of Malbec, he told me the brand & was on his way to the bar area. He came back pretty darn quick with my wine & asked if I had any questions. I decided on the Hummus dish as my appetizer & a nice salad for my entrée. The Hummus was extremely delicious as the homemade ingredients was very present & to have a choice of white or whole wheat pita bread was a treat. There was a little spicy oil infusion drizzled on top with a few olives & I consumed it with a very happy stomach. I opted for a plain salad, nothing elaborate & really enjoyed the dining experience. The interior had a nice ambience of «the village» café with white table cloths, dimmed lighting/candles, an opened kitchen & serving station. Everyone I passed to & from the Ladies Room was just as friendly. Not to mentioned the cleanliness & décor of the restroom was staged perfectly. The price and portion was well balanced, which it made very easy to end the quick dinner on a very positive note with a generous tip. I’ll be back to explore the menu very soon, thanks Augustus and team.

A low key restaurant tucked away near the residential part of Kentalnds, Vasilis is a fantastic place to grab a casual lunch or dinner. The menu is large and the portions are huge. On a nice day there is sidewalk seating, but the interior is small and fills up fast. The three dips appetizer, which is perfect to share, and the falafel I ordered later were both great. I would definitely come again! But beware it is a little hard to find and parking close by can be tricky.

Three and a half stars. Polite service, small interior, slightly competitive street parking if you don’t want to walk over from the nearby plaza lot. Pork chop was aggressively grilled past medium, and came with a side portion of the Village salad as well as skinny fries that were more conservatively seasoned, but evenly cooked. The eggplant purée had a nice smoky flavor from the roasting, and was accompanied by more than enough semi-plush pita quarters and cucumber slices. Pricing is on the high side of par for this neighborhood, but I’m willing to overlook the minor execution issues and try more of their menu: baby octopus, dolmathakia, falafel, Greek lamb sliders, gyro wrap, moussaka, sea scallops.

Right when we entered, a very friendly waiter greeted us. In fact, he was hugging one patron right before. Big smile and crackin’ jokes(«I’ll hug you guys when you leave, too.») His enthusiasm and charm was infectious. After we were seated, he took our drink orders. I’m a health(and cheap) freak, so I always get water. I was pleasantly surprised when they brought waters with no ice. It’s a small detail that matters a lot in the winter. 90% of restaurants seem to miss this. We started with the hummus($ 8). It had a slight kick to it, which was a nice change of pace; and when we ran out of bread, they brought us more. My salmon($ 19) was a bit saltier than I’ve experienced, but otherwise good. It came w/sauteed spinach, which was good; but could have been jazzed up with a sauce or glaze. This cozy, authentic place is definitely worth experiencing.
